This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

It has all the bells and whistles- ABS,6 in dash CD changer, moon roof, etc. This is the 3rd Nissan we own. After only owning the car for about 6 months, the car would not start because of vapor lock because it was cold outside. The climate/heat system keeps the front window foggy if the A/C is not on. The front defroster takes a too long to work. If you are stopped at a light and you have the heat on, the air starts blowing cold until you start moving again. The moon roof only has one button to open/close it and it is very cumbersome to close it. When Ive had problems with the car and brought it in for service the dealership can never replicate the problem and is generally unhelpful.

I like the speed and the acceleration of the 3.5 liter engine. The Bose sound system is excellent.

As soon as I got in the car it felt right for me. First of all it is roomy and it looks real nice with the black leather and sunroof. I traded in my Honda Civic. I was surprized at the price of this car. My payments are about the same as the Honda was, only a much better car. When I need power I have it. Just love the way it drives. It is also quiet. And looks great in the driveway. Ps: if you want better milage, try to keep the tack @ 2500 rpms or less. I was able to get 30.5 mpg in this manner.

Excellent car for your money. Usual Nissan dependability. Better looking that the more expensive Maxima. The 4 cylinder more than sufficient for city driving and saving gas with almost the matching power of a V-6

Ive had this car for 18 months and put 17330 miles on it and I like it. It gets 25 mpg in mixed driving and over 30 on hwy! I had a lot of problems with wheel shimmy/vibration from the time I drove it off the lot and let me tell you, Ive been to five dealer to get it fixed with most of them acting like I was the problem. I replaced the HORRID continentals with Michelins at 1000 miles. It should be a great car for you as long as you dont need service since it seems a lot of others report the same customer service issues with Nissan dealers. Mine is actually for sale since Im going back to school full time.

I beg you please, please, please go look at all of the problems with Nissan Altima on the internet. On a 2005 2.5s there are over 400 Technical Service Bull (TSB). They do not back their products. They have people from the Phillipines trying to answer your questions, you cannot understand them. Never, Never, Never buy a Nissan Product

  • Great Car, Overall - 2005 Nissan Altima

I love the car. It looks great, feels great, and drives great. I am a little disappointed by the absense of standard ABS. I even upgraded and have SIDE airbags ... but still no ABS? I also dont like that when you click the lock button on the key fob one time the horn honks. You must press twice in most cars for this. Its bad when I park at 2:00 am in my apartment parking lot. I do think, however, that this car is terrific for the money. If youre looking at a Sentra, dive the Altima first... a lot more car for not a lot more money.
