This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

  • Good Car, Needs some Care - 2005 Nissan Altima

Bought the car from route22 nissan. nice car for a good deal and everything was smooth until I found out the AC is not blowing cold air. Called up service and they said its air conditioner and not air cooler and will only go 30 degrees of whats it outside.if its 90 outside inside will cool to 60 but I dont know if the AC has sensors as it turns off by itself and blows air and again it starts blowing cold air.The car is excellent other than AC.

I had a 2005 Altima for about 2 1/2 years until it was just totaled in September. I loved this car. I had some issues but she would get up and go when I needed her too. I was having to replace some things but I had to remember she was almost 10 years old and had 208,000 miles... it was time. Not sure I would buy another nissan due to the fact during my wreck I received 2nd degree chemical burns from the airbag. I called the main number for Nissan to find out what chemicals in the airbag were, they had to call someone else to find out. A week later they called me back and said they couldnt give out that information to consumers. Really ??? Its a secret?? I went back to a Chevy..

I am a college student and I firsat laid eyes on this car in 2002 when my friend convinced his mother to buy it as her new car. Ever since, I have been in love!!!! Juat watching him make a U turn in that car made me say DAMN!! Now this year I got my license and the first thing I did was rent the car for a week. That week turned into a month!!! The only reason I gave it back is because like I said I am a college student and plus I was mainly driving it to keep up my driving since I had to drive in Miami for vacation. Anyway the car is ridiculously sexy for one. It is definetely a head turner and just plain sexy.

I have the 2.5 SL. I bought it brand new with 4 miles on it. I get about 24.5 mpg in the city. It has a good size trunk and lots of leg room in the back seat. Knock on wood, I have had no problems with this car. I have about 65,000 miles on it. I just had my third set of tires put on. For a four banger engine it is pretty peppy. Leather interior has held up great!!

  • My blue Altima - 2005 Nissan Altima

I really like my car. I live in TN and I have already drove it to MI and I was very comfortable except for such a long drive I wish I would have had a more substantial seat. I love my blue color and with the way the lights are it makes it lots easier to wash. I almost bought something else but I sure am glad that I bought my blue Altima.

  • Nissan Altima 2.5 S is worth a look !! - 2005 Nissan Altima

I thought the car drove excellent,,,I thought i would miss the V6 option,,,But it wasnt sluggish at all,,,the 175 HP was plenty for a 4 cyl. When driving it, with windows up you could hardly hear the road noise, let alone the engine whinning up thru the gears....I was trying to buy a new car and to stay around $20,000 or so on a 4dr sedan....Im glad i chose the Altima , over the Sonata, Mazda 6, Camry or Accord,,,All these cars start over 23,000 except for the Sonata and thats standard,,,But the upgraded exterior is for the younger driver in his/her 20s n 30s...I car fit my buget and im very happy with my purchase

  • Great All-Around Car - 2005 Nissan Altima

This car offers a great driving experience and provides excellent practicality. The brakes hall it down from speed very quickly and have proven to be fade free on multiple trips through mountain roads. Steering is quick and neutral, and the suspension controls body motions without being overly harsh. The engine has a broad powerband, and the automatic transmission almost always shifts at the correct times while holding gears when appropriate. There is a lot of room in the car, even for tall people, and the seating position is very nice. The car has had a bad engine mount, loose rear window, and broken moonroof visor (my fault), all covered under warranty.

  • Worth for the Money - 2005 Nissan Altima

I bought my nissan altima 3.5sl in march 2005. I like the interior & exterior. Fun to drive. Had a very minimal problem on wheel alignment, where i had a tough time communicatiing the same to the dealer. Finally took to another location of the same dealer to do my alignment. Not sure what caused this, it might be the stearing or something to do with the tyre itself. Otherwise great car to drive. Thank to Edmunds for excellent information about the cars
