This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

I had an Altima 03 but I think the interior design/quality is ok. So, when the 2005 is out, I went to see both Solara and Altima. The layout of Solara is as good as Altima. However, in my opinion, the quality used on Altima is better than Solara despite others comments. One of the obvious examples is that Solara just used all hard plastic on the door trim while Altima used leather with pad underneath of it. At last, I traded my 03 Altima for the 05 Altima.

After 4 yrs, 35,000+ miles, very roomy, nice exterior, enough powerful, good MPG. Very noisy, twice changed shock absorbers (on warranty), over 3 yrs something knock in right front area, no one knows what is that, gaps around headlights, askew bracing of trunk hood, bumpers are very easy to markup after that looks cheap.

I wasnt really looking ot buy a new vehicle, but with the gas prices being so high I started to look (owned a 2001 Ford Escape XLT 4x4 - gas guzzler). The Altima caught my eye because of the exterior design along with the many features it has. I instantly fell in love with the Altima and it handled with ease on my first test drive. Like all the safety features along with the Homelink remote.

I bought the car brand new in 4/04 as an 05 model after reading reviews about how much fun it was to drive. They had just refreshed the interior and exterior and added 10 more hp for the v6. Over the 2.5 years I owned it, I had 3 sets of struts replaced, 2 radiators, 1 alternator, and always had the dealership chasing rattles and squeaks. When it wasnt in the shop I loved it, always got compliments and it was a blast to drive. In 09/06 I rolled it on the highway dodging some debris in the road. It slammed into an embankment and rolled twice. The passenger compartment held up very well and my friend and I walked away, but the car was totalled. If nothing else the car is safe.

The first day I got my car we took it to Montreal for a weekend and did it all on on tank of gas from Central NH, there and back. Its comfortable and peppy. 175 hp is plenty, even if you can get another 75 in this car. it rides very smoothly. Mine has a Bose system, leather, moon roof and everything except the navigation system. The stereo is wonderful and everybody is jealous of it. I have just registered my car so it is still new to me, so for reliability I cannot testify. I got my car for $15K and it came with a tully rack that was very loud and ugly, which I took off quickly. My car was in a crash before I got it but it was repaired perfectly, which may be why I got it at a good price

  • The Ultimate In Altima - 2005 Nissan Altima

Went looking for a black Altima 3.5 SE that was loaded, but left with only the 3rd SE-R this dealership had that year. Ive got the only one in town like it. It is soooo classy yet soooo fun to drive, excellent performance, stylish, comfortable, sporty and quality built. Its everything you want in a car and all in one great package. The Honda Accord cant match its comfort or ride and the Toyota Camry cant match its style or quality. I get looks everywhere I go, because it is definately an eye catcher. I did it right this time. One classy unique car for one classy unique lady...ME !!

My altima is very fast! I use it for fun and for commuting. If my husband and i ever have children, there is plenty of room! I dont plan on selling this car ever! I love how fast it is and how smooth the ride is. I will definitely get another one like it if this one ever breaks or god forebid it gets hit. I love the navigation system, the bose system, and all of the power accessories.

  • This car is way under-rated - 2005 Nissan Altima

I am a huge Nissan fan (my last 5 cars have been Nissan). My last car was an 02 Maxima 6spd, and I loved it. This car is every bit as nice, and cost me $2k less. Nissan made huge improvements on the interior for 05. If this interior would have been in the 02 model, I would have bought it instead of the Maxima. The engine is powerful, refined, and nice to listen to when revved. The design if very attractive (I have the Sonoma Sunset with dark smoke tint windows) and gets lots of looks. On the rare occasion that I let my wife drive it, she doesnt want to give it back. Nissan did a great job on this one. So far quality has been excellent (as I knew it would be).

  • Fantastic car - 2005 Nissan Altima

I bought this car a year and a half ago. It served me well. The only issue was that the clutch would drop a bit once and a while, but never hindered my driving. I added an iPod player to the bose sound system and it worked amazing, never heard anything that sounded so good. And this car loved to be driven hard. 0-100 km/h in just over 6 seconds, and everything was stock. Take turns hard and it would continue to grip. Suspension is harder than a normal 3.5, so ride was a bit rougher with semi-bald tires, but smooth with good tires. The car was also rolled into the ditch off the highway, side airbags went off, not front (which was good). My wife walked out of the car. This was a great car!
