This Year's Model Updates:

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class receives numerous styling changes, including a streamlined front end. There are also interior tweaks, a new suite of safety technologies and an auto stop-start system. On the diesel front, the four-cylinder E250 Bluetec sedan replaces last year's V6-powered E350 Bluetec. Finally, a more powerful E63 AMG now features standard all-wheel drive and an available S-Model package with more power still.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 engines
  • Smooth and efficient four-cylinder diesel
  • Superb ride
  • Extensive safety features.
  • Wide variety of body styles
Cons:
  • Less involving to drive than many rivals despite potent engine lineup.

  • Bit disappointing - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Just picked up a loaded, ordered spec 2014 E250. Selected this primarily for the Distronic Plus with Steering Assist, diesel range and AWD. Cost not a particular concern. M-B USA definitely miss the point here for all their marketing prowess - international versions have smarter equipment choices. As everyone notes: no power folding mirrors!? Forget the rest of the gizmos, not being able to fold in mirrors easily in NYC in a luxury is incredible. Tiny nav screen, no available rear heated seats, old fashioned Apple 32-pin connector on s new 2014 model).. cmon how much are the bean-counters at M-B USA really saving here? Not a good first impression compared to my BMW Porsche or Range Rover.

This is my first Mercedes. Have owned BMW740 ( perhaps worst car I have ever owned) Infinity Q45, and Lexus LS 430. This car is as fun to drive as any of them . As far as ride quality goes, however, the Lexus is leaps and bounds in front of this car. However, I got this car for the performance and it has not let me down. This car jumps when your doing 40 and step on it. It is flat out fun to drive. My older Corvettes were to old to compare but insofar as fun factor, yea its right there. Seats are a little stiff, sound system is okay, nothing great. The nav system is so-so at best, seems like most in cars are years behind the cell phones anyway, but it does work.

  • CPO E350 4Matic - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Bought this car CPO with 2 years and 20k left on the original factory warranty, and 1 year unlimited mileage after thats done. Paid less than 31k for a 65k car that is less than 3 years old. Having been driving it for a month with no issues. Great car and great value for the luxury youre getting. Ill never buy a Merc new, Ill stick to the CPO route due to the ridiculous depreciation. The best cars though!

  • My 2014 E350 Sedan Sport not a quality machine - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Car in shop too many times for too many issues in first month of ownership. Long time loyalty to brand to the tune of 1 new MB a year for several years. Asked them to buy car back before the issues grow. Two systems they still cannot fix - 360 camera and Sirius radio. They told me they are happy to honor the warranty but will not take car back. So much for loyalty. MBUSA customer service is under trained and incapable of client retention. 3000 miles on car in shop two times for two weeks with the service area working on items and not able to fully repair. MBUSA aware of factory 360 camera issue, Sirius - no clue. 30% chance that something will not work when driven.

  • By Far The Best Car Ive Owned - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is my third Mercedes-Benz, but my first E Class (I am coming from owning two C Class 4Matic models). While the C was reliable and comfortable, I now understand why the E Class is always described as THE quintessential Mercedes-Benz. Even in the 350, there is an abundance of power, yet the car shifts and rides so smoothly; this car is consistently comfortable and enjoyable in which to drive and ride. As far as styling, I feel like Mercedes nails it. Other cars in this class either seem to go too modern, and the interiors end up looking like some Frankenstein monstrosity, or too conservative and stodgy. The E Class is a perfect blend of modern tech amenities and understated elegance; I love little touches like the analogue time piece in the center dash. I have seen others complain about the use of the COMAND system, but personally I find it very intuitive and user-friendly. While I am averaging about 29.0 MPG, I have achieved as much as 36.0 MPG on the highway, a nice perk I was not really expecting when buying the car. Also, even though I bought CPO with 28500 miles, the car looks, rides and smells brand new (always a great idea to find a CPO that was a personal lease; at 3 years old and with much of the depreciation hit already taken, I saved about 30K off MSRP). Ive had this car for about a month now, and I continue to look forward to each time I get behind the wheel.

  • Much improvement is needed - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The front standard seats are miserably hard and un-conforming, plus being too low at any setting. Road noise isolation is also poor and worse than the Toyota cars I rent on flying trip destinations. The engine emits rude noises on initial cold start up, a problem which is euphemistically referred to in the owners manual as "a different sound." Pluses include a smooth and effective engine stop-start system at stoplights, ample power, excellent initial reliability, and good body finish and fit. Overall, I would rather have the new Kia K900 as it offers me more luxury and features for the same or less amount of money.

  • Great ride, great looks, great performance - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Even with the sports cars Ive owned, Ive not received as many or as frequent comments about the great looks of this car. In nearly 40 years of driving, this is easily my favorite car. Whether it is a trip to Home Depot by myself to load it with project materials, or filled with 2 parents and 5 munchkins for a birthday outing, this car really does it all. From both a performance and luxury standpoint, it is everything that you would expect from Mercedes. During inclement weather, this is absolutely one of the best snow-fighters Ive ever driven - and thats just running standard all-season tires. Im not the best one to quote gas mileage figures because I often run it in Sport mode in a very spirited fashion. And it does that very well, surprising quite a few other drivers at the stop lights.

  • What fun! - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Sporty yet comfortable. Better than expected mpg. Standard sound system superb. Switched from Audi because they did not have comparable coupe. This is nicest car I ever owned

  • A sophisticated 1969 GTO - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Recently bought the Mercedes E550 Coupe. If you miss the open air feel of the a 60s muscle car coupe with no B pillar and gobs of horsepower and torque, then seriously consider this car. In fact, it is the only mid sized coupe with no B pillar and a big V8 engine currently available. Think a 1969 Pontiac GTO built by Mercedes; you would actually pay twice as much for a restored like new condition GTO and get half the car. I know, I owned one, and this car puts most any muscle car to shame including the new comparably priced Shelby Mustang; I had one if them too. 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, conservatively rated at 402 HP and 443 ft/lbs of torque, out handles any 60s muscle car, >20 mpg city/hwy.

  • Love this E250 Luxury model - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

If you can, order the active multi contour drivers seat. It makes driving a real pleasure. The 40 plus mpg highway adds to the experience. Diesels are making quite a resurgence in the states, and for good reason. The suspension on the Luxury truly provides a much smoother ride than the Sport model. I highly recommend it and, at a minimum, try to drive both before you buy. It is becoming more difficult to find this type of "your fathers" luxury car ride. Look no farther than this automobile. Buy one and enjoy the ride!
