Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

After owning 5 Mercedes I opted for a change 3 years ago (Lexus GS430) as quality issues plaqued the brand. I have just brought myself back into the Mercedes fold and I must say..this vehicle is AWESOME!! Performance, fit and finish, styling is perfect. The car is solid, comfortable and fun to drive. This car is a KEEPER!

  • The E550 Coupe is sweet! - 2012 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I purchased the E550 coupe in early December 2011. I absolutely love this car. I feel like I am driving a car that should cost $20-$30 thousand more. Great acceleration. This car will go 50mph to 80mph like a bullet. Passing slow pokes on 2 lane roads is instant and extremely fun I get looks and compliments everywhere I go. The interior is very well built and high quality. The seats are made for driving and are quite comfortable. The console could be a bit larger but I have no real complaints about this car. The back seats are basically nothing but a place to put a coat or purse. Unless you have a couple of 6 year olds the back seats are a nightmare, but I bought this car for two.

  • Worst car ever bought - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

We have spent over 6,000 in the last 10 months for problems we shouldnt have. some repairs started at about 65,000 and I mean major repairs. This year, front end, sensors of all kinds at about 90,000. Just keeps on. Cant buy another car for awhile since were retired and the crooks at the Feds did a good job of evaporation of our IRA. Our other Merc was just fine. A 1998. We thought this Mercedes would last us awhile.

This car was great from the start. The driving experience is best on the highway, as in city driving a driver might feel a bit disconnected from the road. Controls are easy to use while driving, although using my iPod proves a bit tricky to navigate through.

  • Excellent car, but for the little things - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I love the powertrain and the engineering they put into it. I also love the smoothness of the ride. Now, why cant they do some really little stuff and not so much overengineer the car? Baubbles:1. If you didnt buy car with rain sensor wiper... you dont even have the regular car intermittent wiper! 2. The joke of a cup holder in the middle and not even a good one for the passenger.. only cans? 3. Sluggish 20 to 50 mi.accel.. Whats up with such good accel between 50-80 but not 20-50? 4. You pay for MB parts or service. EXPENSIVE.175 $$ key? 58 $$ oil change.go figure! 6. NO LUMBAR Support lever! Anyway, rest of the car.. I love it... :)

  • E500 Excellent Value Vs. BMW 5 Series - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This car has rear drive and a fast, smooth V-8. Together with Benz build quality and luxury interior, the E500 represents the best dollar value in this segment. Yes, its better than the upcoming 04 BMW 5 (who needs a computer mouse on their center console, anyway)! Only downside is the need for just a bit more rear legroom, but why would I care, I always drive! Thanks MBUSA.

Very responsive and reliable. Has great appearance. Really powerful car with safety features matching engine capacity. Comfortable, sporty and I like the functionality of the car. The car has distinct character.

  • Stay away - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Car now has 10,000 miles. Has been at the shop 5 times. 3 check engine lights. I get same brake problem that everyone else has a problem with. Engine knocks and was told this is my problem due to California does not sell 93 octane gas. Rough starting in the morning. I have contact the dealer manager he tells me dont bother until the car has 12,000 miles. Mercedes direct says you have to get these issues resolved with the dealer. Has spent a total of 28 days at the dealer. Buy a M5.

  • Sweet Car - 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Have not had this car long, bought it used with 60,000 miles as an alternative to a larger SUV. So far it has been perfect and fits our 3 kids just right. Three car-seats easily fit across the second row of seats and the 3rd row seats provides added seating versatility. The car was in excellent mechanical shape when I bought it. I did have to pay for sceduled maintenance and replace a few items due to normal wear and tear. Mercedes maintenance and replacement parts CAN be very expensive.
