Overview & Reviews
A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.
Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

An amazing ride, an amazing vehicle! - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Ken - September 13 - 3:30 amThis diesel engine marvel is everything others have said about it: quiet, clean, LOTS of torque, and great gas mileage! Driving the car home from Texas I drove from Amarillo, TX to Holbrook, AZ on less than a tank of gas. I then drove from Snowflake, AZ to Salt Lake at 75-80 mph via Flagstaff (625 miles) with fuel left over for a few days of driving around town. Climbing mountain grades and passing other cars was effortless. The ride and handling were amazing. This is my first Mercedes and first diesel powered sedan. Given my experiences so far, Im not going back to a gas powered car. It has the navigation system, which is nice, but easily outdone by my iPhone. It also has the Harmon Kardon audio system which is great. While its almost 10 years old now, you wouldnt know it by how it handles. Later: Ive had the car for 8 months now. In that time its had a few rather expensive repairs. Ive had to have the o-rings in the oil-cooler replaced, the turbocharger has been replaced and there was an issue with the valve-body controller of the transmission. None of these have been cheap. I was fortunate I could swap out the turbocharger when I had the engine torn apart to replace the o-rings. I winced at paying $2000 to replace a $10 o-ring. But that said. I still consider myself money ahead on the vehicle. In real world driving Ive gotten as much as 40mpg on one leg of a trip and average about 30-31 mpg between commuting to work and driving around town. The body and interior are so nice, people are surprised to learn its a 2007. Would I buy this car again? Probably. Will I drive anything other than a Mercedes? No way! When I ride in other cars, I can tell the difference, both in noise levels and ride quality. Its superior to any Japanese or American-made vehicle.

Smoothest gasoline engine of all time - 1995 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Hirnbeiss - September 7 - 10:00 amAt 143000, this car has had no more reliability issues than other cars. The ride is still unsurpassed by new cars. Good luxury feeling. These cars are great for the technically minded - theres plenty of info on internet websites. If you cant do a lot yourself, though, many simple maintenance/repair items will cost you. Repairs since 100K: ignition lock, neutral safety switch, water pump

Whoa! This is the one for the ages - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By no mickey mouses - September 7 - 10:00 amIve had them all- vette,Beemer,GTX,442,GTO and this is the finest rocket ship of all. It is simply the fastest and finest 4 door sled on 4 wheels and the panoramic roof really covers it with class, dignity and amazement. Hand built 469 HP engine. There is no comparison even an M5. Headrests are a must on acceleration! Stuttgart,I hate to admit it but you did it...RIGHT!

Awesome! - 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By ejdiablo - September 1 - 10:00 amMy wife and I wanted a car that was safe, fun to drive, and that would last a very long time with minimal maintenance. This car is awesome! 1998 E430 Sport w/ESP and many great options. It is the 210W Chassis (95-99 model years?), one of the best series of M-B ever. Two MB mechanic friend both directed me to this year and model.

2014 E550 Cabriolet - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By gstahl - August 27 - 5:02 pmThis is a dream car come true. I love the performance, the build quality, the technology is amazing! My wife and I have 2 children and love top down driving! With the windows up and the air cap all four of us can talk with the top down doing 70 mph on the interstate. I have researched convertibles for 2 years before I ordered this car. I looked at BMW 6 series convertible, Audi RS5 convertible to mention a few. Without question, none of them come close to the E550 cab. If you are looking for performance, comfort, technology, cruising for a family of 4 this is it! I enjoy the driver assistant package. In stop in go traffic it does the driving!

German Beast - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By golfdino - August 26 - 2:01 amI have to say this car is best all around for commuting and long travel trips. Its not the best handling of the competition but it out accelerates all others in its class including BMW. I was in a 3 car crash at 70 mph once and walked away with no scratches. The bodyshop said if I was in a chevy, I would have lost my legs. Car is like a tank. The chassis is strong and stable. You feel very safe driving it at high speeds - but not as much as in the rain. Bose system is great- which is worth the option upgrade. The paint holds up for years and is strong against scratches and dings. I have had BMW, Lexus, Caddys, and Porsche - and I have to say the build quality of MB is the best.

Buy It - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Traildriver - August 26 - 2:00 amThis is a very important model---The 2000-2002 series is the last of the masculine, broad-shouldered, zig-zag shifter, well-tuned brakes and steering, E320s --also faster than the 2003 model (150 lbs lighter). The classic lines with the deep fender-hood sculpture is more MB than the current model. Absolutely no problems.

Lovin it - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By CDI Impressed - August 25 - 8:43 amThis is an amazing car. Luxury, power and economy. Our test drive sold us on the CDI. It was more powerful than an E320 gas model.

Would Buy It Again in A Heart Beat! - 1995 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Jojos Baby Blue - August 17 - 7:16 amI purchased brand new and it has been a gem. The price was definitely justifiable, for I probably wouldve had to purchased at least 2 other cars within this 10 year timeframe if I didt have my Benz. I have had no major problems and have kept up with routine maintenance. Most maintenance can only be done by the dealer which isnt pocket change, but is "far less" than a car note. The most has been $900 at the 90,000 mile check-up. At 10 years, Im embarking on my 1st major service with the engine which will be about $2500, still less than a carnote, so Im going to keep it instead of trading it in. Its a classic. The body still looks like the day I purchased it.
