This Year's Model Updates:

The E-Class sedan is completely redesigned this year. A more elegant body, along with more power for the V8 model and more luxury (including four-zone climate control and an optional massaging driver seat), bring the latest midsize Benz up to date. Last year's E-Class station wagon, however, carries over into 2003 virtually unchanged.

Pros:
  • Legendary solidity, effortless performance, state-of-the-art safety features.
Cons:
  • Firm ride for a luxury sedan, touchy brakes.

  • This car cant be over $60,000. - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I have read the reviews and cant believe that no one has commented on how small the new E500 is. I had previously owned an E320 and loved it. The car is supposedly an inch bigger everywhere but the trunk and backseat are so small that I could not use it to take customers in. I just traded this car for an S430.

  • So far, so great - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Have had this car for only 3k miles, but it is truly a joy to drive. I have encountered none of the computer/electrical problems-but its still early. Interior fit and finish is remarkable and upgraded wood grained steering wheel really dresses up the look. Drove 700 miles straight and instead of feeling like a whipped puppy, I played 9 holes of golf when I arrived!

Fell in love with it at dealership, all the cool features and gizmos. Worked for a while then I realized it was a lot of gadgetry, poorly thought out and designed for a good first impression. Than reality set it. Electronics worked about a month, then started going caput, one thing after another. Never even sure the radio will play till it does. Cheap plastic parts breaking etc.Not near the quality I expected and not near as reliable as or functional as my old99 Navigator or my wifes 03 Navigator. That is a real car! God help the person who gets it after the warranty expires!

  • great!!....but... - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Had it for three months now. Really a nice car, beautifully designed in and out, but with some annoying glitches. Clicking noise when accelerate. Lost of radio signal, error messages of ABS,ESP, SOS tele-aid failures, but mysteriously corrected itself? Annoying vibration from the electronically controlled brake. Otherwise, it drives great. I am keeping my 1990 E300 just in case. That old car was built like a tank and without the aforementioned glitches.

  • Forget the 5 series! - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is the best e-class ever! I have been a BMW fanatic for the past 20 years but I just converted! This is a STAR from Stuttgart. Quality, design, comfort, driving dynamics better than the current 530i (that says a lot to people who know about beamers!), low road and tire noise & torgue.

  • Definitely nice! - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

While my ML320 was in for scheduled maintenance, I received the E320 as a "loaner". I was skeptical since a significant snow storm was predicted. But it turned out I had nothing to worry about. The traction control was outstanding, and the antilock did its job. The car felt confident and performed extremely well. Ride quality excellent, and the car just feels SOLID. The engine is spirited (thats a V6 underhood?), quiet, and refined. I found it kind of odd that the car had a motorized headrest, but a "push open" fuel door. Huh?

  • Mercedes Benz: Number One - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The Mercedes Benz E320, is by far one of the most fun, and one of the most neatest cars on the market. The exterior is beautiful, but I think tht the interior is what makes this car extra special. So clean and crisp!!!

Very satisfied - no major complaints.

  • This is my third Benz - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This is my third Mercedes E320. I had an 86, 97, and now this 03. The car is as excellent as it has always been. My only complaint is the size of the interior. I find that this model is a lot smaller inside than the previous models, and so is the trunk, even if Mercedes claims it is not. Apart from that, it is strong, sturdy, reliable, and as good as always. Its just a wonderful car to drive and have.
