Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

My E-500 has been in the shop 5 weeks out of the last 52 weeks for radio, telephone problems and to replace windshield and rear glass due to scratches at delivery. The shop then scratched the paint and it had to be repaired. I think theyve finally solved the radio/telephone problems just last week. Otherwise, the performance of the engine and comfort ride are great.

  • Nice car with lots of bells and whistles - 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Lots of technology but the interface falls flat... most of the functions of the car require you to look away from the road in order to activate them or shut them off. I also own a BMW and their technology is (most of the time) centered around the driver and are much easier to use.

  • Dissapointed - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This $50K car has spent too much time at the dealership for minor repairs. I feel high tech has gone too far with this vehicle. For example, rain sensor windshield wipers, automatic seat adjustment, these two things have never worked and dealer has not been able to fix. Oil level too high, this keeps appearing as a malfunction on computer screen. Gas cap has to be frequently repaired. Winshield wipers make awful scraping noise even when wet, dealer also unable to fix. Very dissapointing auto

  • Great vehicle - 1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I have had no major problems with it. It is continuously pleasing to drive and admire. Its hard to get sick of it. The features of this car are great. I personally think this is the greatest sedan made in its price range, a perfect balance of elegance, safety, luxury, reliability, and safety.

  • Still new. - 1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I purchased the car with 26,000 miles and have driven it for 3 1/2 years. It now has 84,000 miles and still runs, drives, and looks like a brand new car. It has been the most reliable car I have ever driven and I am amazed at how a V8 can have so much power on demand and yet still get great gas mileage around town.

Bought new for my wifes 60th birthday, this was her 5th Mercedes and 4th E-class. By far the best E- class ever. Very comfortable on long trips, 32-34 mpg avg. hwy and 19 to 21 city. Just under 30K miles and no problems. My wife absolutely loves her 2007 E-350 as much as I do my BMW Z4.

  • What a GREAT car!!!!!!! - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

OK, Im going to say it right up front - This is my first luxury car and I WANT to like it, not pick it apart! And like it I do!! From the stylish looks, to the bells and whistles, to the high-tech brakes - - this is a nice, fun car to drive, and it turns plenty of heads! For the life of me, I cant figure out the 3.4 rating the other Reviewer gave it, unless he was just trying to make a statement. This is NOT a 3.4 car - its a well-made, comfortable, quiet ride!

I bought this car in July and in less than one week the dashboard started rattling. Few weeks later, the check engine light came on with less than 80 miles. The car was with the dealer for more than three weeks and several trial-and-error attempts were made to repair the check engine light. Finally, they diagnosed the problem and it was repaired by replacing some computer parts and some other parts in the transmission. This should have happened in any brand new car, especially in a luxury car. I have driven two loaner cars of the same model and they all had the dashboard rattling which is a manufacturing defect. This is my first Mercedes Benz and I am very disappointed with its quality and reliability. I had a 2014 BMW 528i and several Japanese cars and never had check engine light coming on.
