Overview & Reviews
A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.
Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

Outstanding Car from Benz - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Jman430 - November 13 - 8:16 pmI have owned numerous Mercedes but nothing come close to the jet-like acceleration of this Super Sedan. I had an 02 CL55, E500, S500, CLK55 but nothing compared to this car, power on demand and handle well in every situation. Sweet car!

The worest Mercedes-Benz I ever had - 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By voice1 - November 8 - 9:46 amThis car I bought new 1998 , as soon as it went over 95000 Km the oil add oil started , in a 300 miles trip I would have to add at least two quarts . Then the electronics started to fall , the headlight the tail light light bulbs almost every two to three week. Rust in the trunk around the key lock . I would say my 230 1988 or my 200 D 1973 were million time better built cars . I lost intrest in buying another Mercedes .

Love my car when it works - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By joerider72 - November 8 - 9:06 amDO NOT BUY! I currently average about $6,000/yr or $500/month in repairs to drive this car. The quality of the parts is shoddy, primarily due to poor engineering (its not engineered for longevity). The bottom line is that the car has WAY too much electronics that control and monitor everything. Those electronics do not have the life expectancy of the mechanical parts. Heres my list of repairs; front struts, rears are leaking, radiator, (damaged transmission - see TSB), control unit for tranny, suspension compressor, air hoses relating to suspension, tires because suspension was messed up. What I still need: brake accumulator, new motor mounts, new tranny or torque converter, rear struts

Another Amazing Benz - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By RI N8TIV - November 2 - 8:23 amWhat an amazing vehicle. = Picked up in Wisconsin and drove 630 miles back to Kansas in sheer comfort and style getting 27 mpg the whole way. Seven-speed transmission is as smooth as butter and the 268-hp engine provides ample passing power. Car is Platinum Blue over Ash leather and is downright stunning. This is my fourth MB. Currently have this and an 04 C230 Kompressor. I have also owned an E320 sedan and an E320 wagon.

A Quantum Leap - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Jim G. - November 1 - 10:40 amThe E Class car has always been a "boost" to the MB line of vehicles...but the new E550 is a quantum leap. Fantastic is the one word to capture what describes this car. I traded a 2007 bmw 750i, and the Benz shuts it down in every respect. I recommend it - unqualified.

2004 E500 AWD wagon - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Pavlin - November 1 - 2:00 amThis AWD wagon is fantastic. The driver gets a choice of sporty or cushioned ride at the touch of a botton. And the V-8 engine delivers power when needed. The Nav system is also very useful. This is a definite upgrade to the 1999 E320 I used to drive and also loved. My only disappointment is the relatively low number of miles per gallon.

Best in Class - 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Joel - October 30 - 3:59 amSuperior styling, excellent technology, spacious interior, seats and ride more comfortable than prior E class, dont even notice the change from 6 to 4 cylinder in everyday driving but notice the mpg improvement. The only negatives I have noticed to date is the electric brake release can be glitchy and exterior noise.

Mercedes Money Pit - 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By or_cagirl - October 27 - 3:21 pmI bought this wagon in Portland from a European used car dealership a few years ago. It only had 105 thousand miles, interior and exterior in great condition. My previous car was a 91 Volvo wagon and lasted 20 years but with teens being over 62, the Mercedes wagon has more leg room than the Volvos. Car ran well for the first year, then the mechanical problems started one after another. The cost for just an oil change is minimum $200.00. I paid $6000.00 for the car in 2010. Since then I have put over $10.000 into it in repairs. I spent less on my Volvo in the 20 years I owned it. I love the room of the E320 but the cost has been a nightmare. Caution before you buy!!!!

No more good Mercedes - 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By d r - October 26 - 4:33 amConsidered many cars in this segment including Hyundai Genesis. However picked Benz just based on badge and low price. Yes, although MSRP is high you can buy E class much cheaper. My version was with 18” wheels so suspension feels quite stiff and handling is reasonable well. Small turn radius. First look inside gives feeling of luxury. Exterior is the best looking in the segment. However if you look more closely to the car you will find that Mercedes is slipping. Standard seats are just vinyl. Leather is expensive option. No right hand rest place. Awkward storages. A lot of modern electronics which has buggy software and cumbersome user interface. Sound quality is reasonable good.
