A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades.   Until recently I had a MBZ C230 and E350. After 5+ years of owning my C230 I started having problems with it. I am not the kind of person who complains after owning a car for more than 5 years. This latest incident, though, with a newly leased 2013 E350 with bells and whistles has actually ended my relationship with Mercedes for good. I have already traded in my C230 for another car from another luxury car maker, I intend to trade in my E350 in due time. The 3 year lease on the E350 has more than 2 years left on it (so the incident described below happened with a car that is only ~10 months old).See below.See "suggested improvements" for incident

  Total Package - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

  This is my first Mercedes and I love it. It has everything. I was deciding between the E430 and the BMW 5-series and I just think the value is better with the E430. Also it looks better.

  Buy a Volvo Wagon - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

  Very comfortable, excellent turning radius, spacious rear seating. Sacrifice reliability and quality for luxury. Loud brake squeak from day one Mercedes advised would diminish with use and it has not. By 15000 miles the window washer pump, a/c fan, CD changer, vanity mirror/light, cup holder all had to be replaced. Owned a Volvo wagon wished we had purchased another (Volvo T5).

  The car is technologically incredible. The 350 engine has plenty of power in all situations. The 550 is really an overkill. Blind spot works perfectly. Lane assist is well engineered. All the driving and safety electronics including night vision work as you expect them and superior to BMW, Infiniti and Lexus. Really! HK sound is a perfect 10. Navigation, phone and voice command are good but not great. About the same as my BMW 550, but not as good as Lexus and Infiniti. Gas mileage is what it is. Its a Benz, not a Honda. Plenty of luxury inside. Panoramic roof is great, but the mesh cover is really a bad idea. After driving the car for a month, you really appreciate it does,

  1st Benz after 3 infinitis - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

  I just leased a new 07 E350 with permium and sport pacakge. This is my first Benz and I love it. The sport pacakge is smooth and tight at the same time. Has a very nice feel to it. The 7 speed auto is very smooth, but downshifts late and sometimes does a little gear hunting.

  Worth the extravagant price - 2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

  This was a perfect buy even though the 65k total cost is excessively priced. The car has utility, style, power, comfort, safety and AWD making it the most practical car my family has ever ridden in. The E350 wagon is one of the very few cars that has utility for a whole family w/ luggage and the ride quality of a sport sedan. 4MATIC is very grippy and 3.5L V6 is powerful and sounds very classy when revved up. While its no gas guzzler, I average 18 mpg wherever I go and thats not exactly great considering premium fuel can cost over $4 a gallon. But the car is so comfortable and the drivers post is excellent. Piloting this car is truly a pleasure. Styling is gorgeous!

  My first MB and most likely the last! - 1996 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

  This car was my first MB and due to the problems and quality most likely my last. At 100K the engine (in-line 6) began leaking oil at the head. I have also had electrical problems with the dash and rear tail-lights. I could live with these issues but the other day while driving down the road my front left spring fell out! The spring pearch had rusted off. If I was going faster someone could have been killed as my spring went bouncing down the road!

  Swapped the SUV - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

  Family of 6 swapped the Expedition for the wagon. We had nothing to tow and make up for the cargo space with a Thule cartop carrier (when all 6 of us are in the car). We avg 23 mpg hwy and 21 city (10+ better than the EXP.) AWD (4matic) is a must for us in Alaska and performed great last winter in the snow and ice. We used Nokian snow/alpine rated studless tires. The kids love it(11,9,5,6mo)it is wide enough that there is none of the "Hes touching me!". The third row seat is big enough for the 11 and 9 yr old to sit comfortably. Well drive it til it dies.

  Fun Fantastic Car - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

  Have 2000 miles on my new coupe and love it! First road trip this weekend thru the mountains of western NC. More strangers walk up & ask me about this car than any car Ive ever had. The ride is smooth yet the handling is awesome. I can get in & out comfortably unlike my partners BMW 335 coupe. Nav worked great. Sound system is superb. Its just an all around FUN car to drive and turns lots of heads. Cant comment on reliability and maintenance as its still too new. So far, Im not disappointed with my purchase. Wheeeee!!

  My first E - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

  My first E is everything I expected, pure luxury and performance. I waited eleven yrs to finally buy one. I test drove the new BMW 2008 535xi, very nice car, fast no turbo lag but felt large and heavy. The E350 was not as quick off the line but if you want luxury with performance this is the car for this price range. I got the sports package with dual tail pipes, larger tire. Looks very sharp, plus no cost for the upgrade. The cabin was very quiet. Love the sports looks! This is a keeper!
