Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • minor issues - 2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I traded up from a (06) CLK 350 in the spring of "09". Love the car with the exception of two minor issues. Firstly is the impossible task of keeping the mags clean, drives me crazy. The other is dripping of water into the trunk when the body os wet, either from the weather or just washing.Minor issue bur when you spend this kind of money you would expect these issues to have been solved.

  • A diesel MB charmer - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

When 1) Premium gas goes north of $2.30/gal; 2) you change jobs and started commuting 50 mi/day roundtrip on one of Atlantas most congested roads and 3) the tranny in your 2002 Lincoln LSE is replaced at 26k miles, you buy a Benz turbodiesel. The new diesel technology is going to tramp hybrid into the ground IMHO. Its not the road warrior the LS was, but its darn close. Cabin is much better suited to the long commute - better seats, stereo, NVH isolation. Torque spoils you immediately; HP has no meaning when the car locomotive pulls you to an easy 80mph cruise with no sign of power dropoff. I try not to subscribe to societys definition of success, but I feel like Ive arrived in m E320 CDI.

Very nice and still feels updated even at 5 years old. MB put features on this 1997 car that are just now showing up on 2002 Japanese and American vehicles. Ride, power and comfort are a perfect blend between sport and high end luxury. Safety is of upmost importance and all you need is in this car.

  • Nice, but not a Lexus - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Ive way more issues with the 06 than my old E55 (2002 W210 E55) although, yes, the 2006 is a rocketship in comparison. MB has lost the "tank like" build quality of the older cars, and doesnt seem to care what the buyer endures as far as problems, but the car is scary fast, and is still the best 4 door hot rod money can buy. Get the build quality up to Lexus standards, and there will be no room for BMW in this market.

  • Fun Car and Great Appearance - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I moved up from a CLK (which I loved) to the E-Coupe 350 2010 and thought they would be comparable. They are not; the E-Coupe is far more advanced. The two optional packages load the car with great technology that is easy to use. I decided not to get the sports package and Im glad I did because the ride is smooth and comfortable without it. My CLK had a hard ride. This E- Coupe is a dream to drive.

  • Good Car - Could Use Some Improvements - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Had car for just under 2 years and 27000 miles. Love power/acceleration and AWD system (with Blizzak snow tires, car will go anywhere in any weather). No mechanical problems to date. Car is relatively anoymous and yet it commands a certain respect. Need improvement: 1. Front seats - in order to get lumbar support, had to order a special seat; worst drivers seat that I have ever experienced (and have had cars from many manufacturers including, Jaguar, Nissan, Saab, Mitubishi, VW) 2. Not having a separate dash insert to play a CD is ridiculous in a car costing this much

  • Great Mid-Range Benz - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Sold my S500 after 2 years because I wanted something a little smaller and sportier. This car is quick, agile and a blast to drive. The 7 speed auto is good, but shifts a little strange from standstill or slow start. Handling is very tight and interior is quiet - nice insulation. Stereo isnt as good as the "S" and the ride is not as cushy - but both are well within accepable ranges. Only problem on delivery was car needed slight alignment. If youre thinking of an "E", you simply cant go wrong with the 500.

  • Best Wagon in the world? - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Short of the E55AMG of course! Overall this is a great car, well thought out, good build quality and really drives well. Fuel consumption is OK for size and you get a lot of technology built in.

  • 5,000 mile report - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

So far this automobile is the finest I have ever owned. I had only one problem with the vehicle the first week I owned it: the Command unit (stereo/GPS/cell phone), blacked out on my while driving. The dealer picked up the vehicle and found a "software installation" problem. I havent had a problem with the vehicle since. Even though this is the most expensive vehicle I have ever owned, by 20K (the last was a Vette), I really feel I got my moneys worth.

  • The Best E Class Ive had yet - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Ive driven this car for two years, and it is the best E Class yet. It is fun to drive, and with four snow tires it is very good in the snow. I am going to get a E550 4Matic. I got 23 mpg on the highway with the air conditioner running and 16-17 mpg around town.
