Overview & Reviews
A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.
Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

Great car, expensive repairs - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Al - February 28 - 5:20 pmI have owned this car for about 6 months now - had 75K miles on it when I bought it, now has 83K miles. It feels solid and drives wonderfully. But shortly after I bought the car, it started breaking down; piece by piece. And the repairs are so darn expensive. All in all, I would not recommend this car to anyone as what you will pay for repairs will probably exceed what youve paid for the car itself. Unless you have saved up an additional $10K for repairs and you are willing to spend all of it, do yourself a favor and stay away from this car.

Back to BMW - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By HB - February 27 - 2:30 pmHow about 6 flat tires in 14 months!?! Have not had 6 flats in 30 years of driving. Low profile tires cant handle any kind of pothole. Major reliability problem. Also - quirkiness of accelration and braking makes driving experience less enjoyable. Strange buzzing and vibration from various motors also hurts the experience. Too many weird characteristics for a $60k+ dream car. Im selling and buying a Bimmer.

Stay away from MB - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By george219 - February 24 - 6:48 pmLong time MB owner, this E350 has had issues from when we drove it off the lot, the worst issue is the terrible transmission shifting, which is a safety issue when driving at highway speeds. There is an intermittent problem with a long hesitation when you step on the gas to pass or avoid something and the car accelerating. The "premium" leather seats (they are not standard and are not on most cars sold) are very uncomfortable because they pivot above the base, so if you dive in any position other than a right angle the bottom of the seat back pushes into the small of your back. Our brand new car had loose parts and noises which were corrected, but is that what you expect from this car?

Balance shaft - MBZ does not stand behind - 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By mbzpain - February 23 - 8:26 amGreat car, comfortable and great value. BUT be careful, as Mercedes does not stands behind their products. I have a MBZ E350, and at 63K, I got a check engine problem that required a balance shaft to be changed at the cost of $6K, because of a shaft that was not properly tempered. MBZ clearly built a product that was flawed, as about 20% of the cars that has the E350 engine had the problem. BUT they leaved us poor users to deal with it, and didnt stand behind their poor craftmaship product.

Best Car We Have Ever Puchased - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Bob Salvatore - February 13 - 10:00 amMy wife and I looked at BMW,Lexus, Audi, Jaguar and Cadillac. We test drove each car twice, on separate occasions. We recommend you doing this. It does talk a lot of time but if you are spending $50,000 plus, we think it is worth the effort. We consider the exterior design, the comfort of the ride, the interior design, the trunk capacity, and the interior noise level. The Mercedes E350 we test drove was our final choice and we are very happy we chose to purchase this vehicle. It is elegant, quiet and very responsive We thought the BMW was a nice car but the ride was not comfortable and the steering stiff. The Lexus was nice, but it did not have the luxury interior we wanted.

Stay away from the airmatic suspension - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By robert davis - February 10 - 8:26 amWith 1500 miles on my new E class a red message came on the dash, "do not drive-stop the car now" The airmatic suspension failed and the car looked like a "low rider" I had the car towed and four days later it was repaired. The control module failed along with a few other things. This module is approx. $3000 , what a nice thought down the road. The brake pedal squeaked, the door trim is a light color with no door sill so it is always dirty, (replaced once), the wipers were noisy and chatter and Mercedes doesnt seem to know what to do. I had to put white lithium grease on them to stop the squeak. Noticed this when I went to pick up the car after four days in the shop. Stay away from MB .

Best E Class Yet - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By krudolph - February 10 - 12:36 amThis has been a great car. Nothing has gone wrong with it. It is fantastic in the snow. I average 16 to 17 mpg around town and 25 to 27 mpg on the highwaway. Not bad for a car that can go 0-60 in 5 to 6 seconds. Im going to get a 2007 model.

great engine horrid HVAC - 1995 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By radicalpumpboy - February 10 - 12:33 amThe twin-cam straight six has always been a great engine, and the variable cam version has to rate as one of MBs best engines. It pulls like a V8 and roars when told to do so. The engine is also bullet proof, as is the transmission, brakes, and suspension. All work like new after 112k miles. BUT, the car is best suited to milder climates -- like San Fran -- because the HVAC is total crap. Ive lost heat in the winter and seldom had cold air in the summer, despite spending lots and lots of money on constant repairs. The locks are also a weak spot.

Much better than the last model - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Riven - February 8 - 2:00 amAfter a disasterous 2000 E Class wagon (windshield leak, ox sensor fault, aircon breakdown...), this one seems much better put together and of much higher quality. The dark grey exterior is striking while the interior is much improved. I acutally think the wagon looks better than the sedan. They might have got it right this time.
