Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Good Bad Ugly - 2001 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Good. Very powerful on highways. Excellent highway performance. Gets you there safely. Bad. Original tires were poor. AM Radio didnt work for 18 months. Ugly. Paint seems to chip easily. Style has gotten dated quickly in my opinion.

  • Great car. But poor engine quality - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Love this car, great cruiser, comfortable, great mileage and power. BUT, Mercedes has delivered a car with a poorly designed engine. At 62K, I got check engine light and taking to the dealer was informed that I have to replace the balance shaft of my engine for a cost of close to $6K. According to the advisor and validated by the many articles you can find on the web. Mercedes, E350 engine (this affects E350, ML350 and many other C class cars using the same engine) was built using a balance shaft that was not tempered properly. This affects 10% to 15% of the cars between 2006 and 2007 Worst of all Mercedes will not stand behind the poorly manufactured engine !!!

  • Best Ride! - 1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This car drives the best of any comparable cars! Smooth and stable cornering, solid feel, and impressive acceleration. Having owned Lexus for many years, I believe the quality of the details are more superior on the Lexus but the LS400 cannot compete with this one on the quality of the ride. Get used to more stares and attention driving a Mercedes compared to other luxury cars!

  • E-Class Not a Real E Class - 2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Traded in my fully loaded 2002 BMW X5 for a 2008 E350W. Should not compare apples to oranges. First Impression : After few weeks of driving the E Class, corner of my heart the BMW wins. As the saying goes, when you dont have it anymore is you will miss it even more.

  • Newer E320 Wagons - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

WE upgraded from a 2000 wagon. The 2004 model amazed us in the improvements both on the inside, but more importantly on the drive. The newer models start from a stop faster and they corner even better. Only negatives really are the price and the reduced head room for the rear (3rd) seat.

  • German Cars Not so Perfect - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

The car has less than 2000 miles on it and has been in the shop TWICE already. The first time, they replaced a sensor to correct an idle problem. Within 48 hours, the "check engine" light came on and it went back to the shop. This time they kept it overnite, replaced another sensor and now Im keeping my fingers crossed.

  • Good bang for the buck - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This 99 E 320 had 6500 miles on it when purchased. We have have averaged around 10,000 mi. per yr. and 32 MPG or better on hwy. Recommended scheduled maintenance by MB certified tech and that is it.What more could you ask for?????

  • A very solid car but horrible nav system - 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Bought car because of incentives (with premium I package paid only $39k AND got 2.9% financing for 5.5 years, plus sales tax write-off)! The car feels extremely solid and stable and has a remarkable balance of comfort and sporty driving characteristics that few other cars can match. Interior and exterior design are very nice and materials and assembly are first rate. However, vinyl seats are totally out of place in car with MSRP of 57k. They are extremely uncomfortable (sweat inducing and sticky when less than 40 degrees F). Navigation system is a nightmare, too. Nothing is intuitive or easy and even after studying manual for hours the system is still fury inducing.

  • Wanders on the road - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Car will hold a straight line. I have to constantly move the steering wheel to keep it between the lines. I have not driven drunk in 30 years, but I could hold a straight line in my old Ford drunk than I can the E 320 sober. I am VERY disappointed.

  • Expensive Fun - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I purchased this E430 Sport with 32k miles. Overall its a great car with a few minor problems that are somewhat a headache. All repairs were covered under warranty. Digital instruments cluster replaced due to faulty LEDs, dashboard cracked around the passenger air bags (very common problem)and window motor side replaced. This is our third Benz and I have come to realized that the Benz cars are not the trouble- free car everyone who doesnt own one think. But still a great German engineering at a substantial cost. But when you own a Benz, everytime you get in your car, your always getting inside a Benz.
