Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Is this a LEMON? - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

After saving $63,000 and waiting 3 months for delivery, Im not happy at all. At delivery, both seat backs was loose, AC auto makes loud noise in operation, engine noise is excessive, at low cruising car bucks and launches when accelerating, sun roof electronics are not functioning as designed, there is a shuttering sound coming from the out side of car at speeds over 60. All this and I only had the car 6 weeks! What happened to Quality insurance and delivery inspections. Im taking this car back to dealer calming I got a LEMON!!!!!

  • It is a good car..but expensive to keep - 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I bought it as a certified pre-owned. the dealer was great..deliver the car to my wifes office..Fed Exp overnight a spare key as soon as my wife it on 2nd day..my local MB dealer pick up and return it for service..need road side assistance three times..the good side they showed up in an hour everytime. great services again. drive and ride great last 3 years. Cost to keep it is not cheap at all. my last invoice to replace 2 sensors and a few small things came to $2000. In last 3 services, nothing under $500. Engine noise increase in last 6 months. Dealer say it is normal.

There is nothing like a Mercedes-Benz. Here is the bottom line. Mercedes-Benz, like all cars, must be properly maintained inside and out for it to perform and be relied upon during its long life. These are highly advanced vehicles which deserve much respect, and that means no cutting corners when it comes to maintenance and repairs. Most people complaining about their Benz either obtained it from poor care or have not been providing the proper care . I will admit, it does take a financial commitment to make this happen, but so does the proper care for a Honda Civic if you wish to have it running like new at 120K miles. I am blessed to have my 04 E320 Sport and its simply a great car.

  • Safe and fun - great car - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

We Starmarked this car when we bought it just to be safe, but havent had to use it more than once (cracked intake hose - replaced with no problems). Dealer has been outstanding. This car is very comfy and very safe - Im very pleased my wife and child spend time here. Factory Continentals stink, but thats a minor issue. Overall, were pleased. This is our second MB, and Ill continue to drive them as long as they keep the faith.

  • Well built tank - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This is my third benz but first of the 21st century. I stayed away after hearing about issues after the DM/Chrysler merge, but was convinced by my mechanic that the w210 chassis are well constructed and reliable vehicles. While I still own my classic MBs, this is a fine vehicle with modern amenities like powerful A/C, ventilated seats, side curtain airbags. Powerful V6, 4matic, stability and traction control make this an all weather warrior. Car is new to me so I will report back later on reliability.

  • What a Lemon - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Bought it 6/29. At 1000 miles, notification of airbag malfunction. Mercedes tells me not to drive it for safety. 600 miles after it got fixed, another notification of airbag malfunction. Mercedes has too many electrical problems. Never had problems with any of my Japan made cars (Lexus, Infiniti).

  • The "Water Buffalo" Just Keeps Going Effortlessly - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Weve nicknamed our E320 the "Water Buffalo" simply because its the work horse. She is as reliable as any car Ive owned (and Ive owned a lot!), just gets you to your destination effortlessly and smoothly, pretty comfy ride, handles well, and is all round a good solid car. Even in Los Angeles where everybody drives fancy cars, the valet still parks our E320 in the front. It just looks like an elegant and classy car.

  • Not what I expected from MB - 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I leased a 2013 E350 sport sedan about 7 months ago. When I picked up the car the door had a scratch in it. Great, band new car, already repainted. TThen the car developed a pronounced rattle at idle. The dealer fixed it by adding felt tape along side the "fuel line". (!?) 6 months later I test drove a C300 and noticed it had less exhaust system noise/drone. I took the E350 in and they compared it to other E350 sedans and agreed my exhaust system was make an unusually loud droning noise. They contacted MB and were told that there were other complaints on this issue and that a "case" had been opened but there was no resolution yet. I was told to check back in 6 months!?

  • Made on a Friday afternoon! - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

When purchased new, the E320 had too many adjustments and repairs that were needed. Replaced glove box,ash tray, drink holder, front seat bolts, dead battery, computer mod, str. wheel tilt switch, and loud/rough Goodyear tires from MB. This is not normal for MB to have this many problems. NOW, re-sale trade-in/value does not come up to what is owed on the MB Credit Corp. 4 year note. TIme to trade.

  • Slick and quick - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

The E500 is an exceptional automobile in that the ride is well controlled and yet it is not harsh by any means. It has ample power and the adaptive transmission is silky smooth. The style is not in your face so to speak, yet it is very tastefully executed.
