Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Best Car Ive Ever Driven - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

We purchased this vehicle over 3 years ago with reservations based on negative reviews from consumer reports. After purchasing and over 3 years of ownership, I can confidently say that this is the best car Ive ever owned or driven, especially for highway driving. Weve had a few issues..., new brake pads, and battery, but, overall the car has proven to be very reliable. The comfort level is like no other and Im almost certain, when the time comes, well be purchasing another one.

  • Solid Car - Great Value - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Bought a 07 CPO E350 Sport/ Premium 1, Blk/Blk with 21,000 miles for $31k Aug 09. The car is very solid and well-built - no chassis flex, creaks, or rattles, very stable (runs likes its on railroad tracks - smooth, stable and tracks very straight even at high speeds). Great value for a car with an MSRP of $55k. Acceptable performance; but its no rocket or track-day thrill ride. I also own a 06 BMW 330 w/ sport package - the E350 cant match the 330 in terms of performance but it is certainly a very comfortable, solid, spacious, safe and prestigious (if that sort of thing matters to you)car. Very happy with the purchase, a top-of-the-line Accord will run you about the same money!

  • First Car - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This car is an amazing piece of machinery and is the last year of the reliable Mercedes. This car having a 4.3 liter V8 just made the car a sleeper, especially considering that it had no badging anywhere. The transmission shifts almost seemlessly. It has great power and good handling, but this particular car stood out from the pack because of the real Brabus exhaust, and the replica Brabus 19" wheels. The car sounds fantastic and it isnt overly loud. The interior of this car doesnt have the flare of Mercedes of old, but its simple and functional, and thats all you should need. The exterior is much like the interior, simple but nice to look at, especially in the white color mine was in.

  • 134k Miles and counting! - 1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

My father purchased this car in 1999 at the end of his friends lease for $36,500. The car has been nothing but a joy. It has every single option that the dealer + merc had to offer at the time. In all these years shes been so good to us. Now with the economy i sold off my cars and started driving the merc which was sitting for 2 years. Issues? No. Creaks? Squeeks? Rattles? NONONO. I love this car. yes 91 octane BUT i Average 22mpg in mostly L.A. traffic. Note one thing that all these e-classes seem to need a new steering pump ONLY since it starts to leak. Other than that not ONE crazy repair unlike the other guys rant. Can you say LEMON? or maybe hes hard on his cars what can i say.

  • Fun, but - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I have enjoyed driving this car except for the electronics. Initially, I couldnt even set my clock. The electronics were changed, but now I get lots of false malfunction indicators. My dealer is terrible so next time my $60,000 goes to BMW or Lexus. For the money, I should have more horse power.

i know this particular model is not in your records yet, but just let everybody know that this is an umbilivable expirience, i purchase a new car every year for the last 15 years, i dont remenber ever been so taken by every aspect of a car , preformance 6.7 zero to 60, handling all you can dish for a 2 ton sedan short of an m5, looks (very personal i know )but i love them, an to crown it i just went round trip from miami to key west on half a tank of diesel ( $ 1.72 a gallon) and 33.2 mpg not on a freeway all for $50,000

  • Not what it used to be, but still good. - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

The qauilty of these cars is still great; and you are still getting a great car. Although Mercedes has been on a downward slide as far as quality-- they are still better than 95% of all other cars. BMW continues to narrow the gap when it comes to looks--and will probably close that gap, come the 2004 5-series. I plan on keeping my 2003 E-Class until the 2005 5-series comes out (that way all the first year troubles will be worked out). I would not call Mercedes cheap, or attack them the same way the other reviewer did--however I do undertand where hes coming from. BMW is on the up, while Mercedes is on the down...who would u choose?

  • Could Be Greatly Improved! - 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Recently retired and wanting something less expensive to operate, my Audi A8 was no longer under warranty and would be expensive to repair. After1 month I can say that this is a nice driving car but the COMAND system and voice recognition is vastly inferior to the Audi MMI. Such systems have become integral to todays driving experience defining to a large extent how the driver interacts with the car. MB COMAND requires much more input to navigate the menus than Audi. The voice recognition seems less intelligent and reliable compared to my past Audi experience. COMAND may have a shorter learning curve but will require more effort to operate than MMI. Miss parking assist.

  • Love car, HATE the electrical problems!! - 1996 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I love the car. I have owned it since 1997, and the style still turns heads. Hovever, the constant electrical problems reflect a Yugo, not a Mercedes Benz!! Nearly once a month something electronic fails. Thank God I bought an extended warranty. Next time, I am buying the Lexus LS430, (less problems).

  • Great Car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Ever since I first saw the exterior styling of this E350 Ive wanted one. The style was continued until 2009, and then changed in 2010 to a more angular look. So the 2006 looks exactly like the 2009 and the same model before it. This model has more pep than I realized, and I like the details and safety of the car. Very comfy.
