Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Cant miss! - 1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Bought this 97 model after crashing my wifes Altima, best thing to have happened! The wife thought it was too big, but she wouldnt let me use it now! Well built, luxurious and stately. People have a hard time believing it is 10 years old. No problems so far, but the fuel efficiency on premiun gas isnt great. Not complaining though

  • PHENOMENAL VEHICLE - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I only have the car for three weeks and love every moment Im in it!. The interior is super! Very comfortable seats for long trips, and the optional stereo system is A+. Did not experience any mechanical problems yet, and hoping not to for a while, since the built quality of this car is phenomenal. After my previous Lexus GS400, the E500 handling is like driving a Formula 1 car (especially in sports mode). Dontt get me wrong, the Lexus was one fine auto with a good heart, but this M-B is far superior!

  • Performance and Enconomy - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is my first MB and I bought it for reliability, economy and style and it has not let me down. Economy is amazing. I get 26 mpg in town and 28- 30 mpg on my 55 mile commute (at 80- 90mph!). Passing is effortless and silent, it really has quite a good mid- range punch. The 580 mile range is also great, a lot less time is spent at the pump. A 13,000 mile service interval is also a time saver. You can hardly tell that it is a diesel at all. The motor only rattles at low rpm, low speed with the window down. Ive had just one issue, a buzzing speaker which was fixed under warranty. One small gripe is turbo lag, but you learn to drive around it. Buy one!

  • Take the family in style - 2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

My E350 wagon was just broken in and it is such a smooth and refined family vehicle. The suspension is stiff, however the ride remains composed and luxurious. The car handles so well you forget the car weighs over 4000 lbs and it is actually fun to drive for a station wagon. Its not fast, however it has plenty of power for easy around town and highway driving. The drivers seat is so comfortable and piloting this Benz is truly a pleasure and a big step up from my previous Audi A6 Avant. It also gets decent 25 mpg while crusing at about 75-80 mph.(much better than EPAs 21 mpg estimate)

  • definitely not a Toyota - 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Nice ride, comfort & decent traction, reliability is lacking.I have had Japanese designed & manufactured cars for the past 10 years or so so I was expecting the Benz to be comparable - not so.The car is plagued with little annoying problems that I wont tolerate.Like an old set of Christmas lights I never know which light will not be out next. Sunroof broke just out of warrany $300, engine gives off a nice blue smoke cloud when it starts, CD changer broke(CDs entombed inside, various unexplained glitches in the stability control electronics & in the electronic throttle control. Low fuel pressure trips Engine Light too!

  • AWESOME - GAS GUZZLER - 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Awesome handling around the corners; great acceleration; quiet and smooth yet sporty ride; interior well-designed for ease of operation; looks great (sport package); guzzles gas (about 15MPG combined!). Opt for the 320 if MPG is important.

  • Very Good Car, Problem Free. - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

great exterior design, extremely eye catching. people stood around my car and kept looking while i was not near the vehicle. very quiet and comfortable ride. i traded my Lexus for this. i never received any attention from the public with the Lexus. however, with this MB, young women came up to me and complimented how nice the vehicle is. in some of these occasions. on another occasion, a highway patrol (a lady) stopped me for speeding but instead of sending me a warning, she complimented the vehicle and told me the road was slippery and requested that i drive safe. this is some experience i never had. no wonder, they said driving is an experience.

  • Drives as good as it looks - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Fell in love with the look of the car. Highway driving is a real pleasure. The car is smooth, comfortable, very fast and I get up to a suprising 30 miles per gallon. City driving is great, too, due to the comfort of the car. The only thing I dont like are the cup holders. They are not sturdy enough and the secondary holder is not big enough of the traditional large drink you get from fast food restaurants.

  • Almost Perfect - 1995 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This is the best (6th) diesel I have owned, bar none. Purchased from the original owner with 124K on the odometer. It is a very refined automobile with a simple, economical, engine. It is not a stoplight racer but will devour large expanses of highway with aplomb. Fuel economy is consistently 32-34mpg with mostly highway driving at 65-70mph. I highly recommend this model and this particular year. It was the last year for this body style. It has a larger fuel tank than the new models. So far (at 127K), everything works, though not always perfectly.
