Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Nice Car but only buy CPO buying used. - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I have driven BMWs for the last ten years and wanted a change so I went MB. I love the looks of the E350 and how comfortable it is on trips. I bought the car from an independent dealer with 48K on it. The car had been maintained by Mercedes since the day it was bought. Being the second owner and having a clean car fax, I figured I was ok. Up until last week the car was super. The car just turned 52K miles and the transmission had a major malfunction due to the electronics. I had to pay right at $2000 to have the Valve body of the transmission replaced. I am very disappointed that this happened exactly 2000 miles after the factory warranty expired. Not what you would expect on a MB this new.

  • Factual and Truthful - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Aside from a defective alternator @ 1,000 miles and a loose headrest, the E500 4Matic hasnt disappointed. It has handled superbly through 30"+ of NE snow thus far. Solid car, solid ride, good price/value correlation.

  • Looks good, poor reliability - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Nothing but problems with the vehicle. SRS light on and fixed seven times, three leaks, the list goes on. And the most disappointing fact was the poor customer service I received. I was treated like an outcast and MB did not care about resolving the problems.

    Dissapointing for a Mercedes Benz.

I traded in my 07 Mustang for this because it was an amazing steal. One word describes this car: heavenly. I cant stop staring at it; 10 years down the road it will be just as elegant and refined as it is today. The ride is amazingly smooth, you can hit potholes at 40mph and hear them but not feel them. The sound system is impeccable and the controls easy to use if a bit distant from your hand. The V8 is the most finely tuned Ive ever seen-easy to control yet quick to please. AWD is amazing yet does not sacrifice handling as so many others do. Gas mileage is awful but is to be expected and no worse than any SUV. The controls are in the oddest places and are sometimes hard to fathom.

  • "KLASS E" - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is our second Mercedes. Our other one is a 2006 CLS55 AMG. I bought this E500 this May with the Sports Package as well as the Apperance Package. I love the Sports package with the dual exhaust, sports suspension, and high performance tires. I live in a wealthy town, and I see Mercedes all the time. I wanted mine to be & look different and it does. I am yet to see another E500 with the Sports Package. From my understanding, not alot were made for the 2006 model.

Around 115k miles my check engine and ARS dummy lights came on, costing me aboiut $2k in repairs. Other than this recent problems, the car handles great and has acceptable acceleration qualities.

  • mercedes reliabilty - 1996 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

when we purchased this vehicle in nov of 96 we were so happy. then we found out it had a german smaller gas tank. the dealership replaced it tthe proper size tank. then we started to have a series of reliabilty problems, such as the following: glow plugs not working (8 times),care stalling while in motion (10 times), 3 blower motors, 2 control modules replaced, order pump for ww wipers.if you wish i can you copies of the work orders. It just to much effort to wrie here. MB did extend the warranty to 75,000 miles and the were good in providing a loaner car with no cost to me. The problems have with this car up to this writing. richard snyder

  • Dont buy early production cars - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

My last car was a BMW 5 series. After seeing pictures of the new 5, I decided to get the E class. The handling is better than I expected but still not as good as the bimmer. I did get an early production car that was full of little nagging problem, squeaks, radio that stops working intermittenly, heated steering wheel that only works a few minutes. Finally the Navi that was supposed to be retrofitted in March could not be done at all. A blessing in disguise because I did get a *new* replacement car with the Command system. The new car with the exception of misaligned Xenon lights has been much, much better than the old car.
