Was looking for an older s 320 and saw this e 300 and fell in love with it. Smokers car with 145,000 miles in show room condition. Bought it on the spot and took it on a road trip the next day. Battery problem that the dealer made good, replaced all glow plugs within 2,000 miles and it runs like a top. It is a dream car, excelent in all areas. I subsequently bought a jag xj6 since my wife claimed this car for hers. Excellent car, value, investment.

  • Been Fun - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The car only had one major mechanical failure which was under warranty. With the addition of a custom Remus exhaust system, it has been a lot of fun to own and drive.

  • Buying off lease! - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This car is great. 80,000 miles and still as smooth as ever. Most expensive MB Extended Factory warranty is a must though. Had several back window motors break. Other things from time to time. They came to ME within an hour and fixed it no cost each time. I drive it hard. Turbo really kicks it up a notch. Drove 4 maximas prior to getting the TD. Each one felt like it was falling apart at 35k miles. This car at 80K is just getting broken in.

  • My Best Friend on the Road - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I have owned this car 1 Year, and 30,000 miles. My wife is the primary driver for her 50 mile round trip commute. It is by far the most solid feeling vehicle I have ever driven. The 4-matic, and ESP traction control give me great confidance in all weather conditions. I live in Kentuckly and it is very hilly and snow is slow to cleared on our roads. It has great cargo space and is hugely versitile. I can haul my two dogs in the back, or fold up the rear seat and roll down the cargo net for 5 Adults and 2 8th graders to ride Comfortably. I have better safety and versatility than an SUV and have taken it off road, absolutely with no wheel spin. I will drive this car for many years to come

  • Enthusiasts best used car value! - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

After much research and driving most competing models, including BMW 5 series, Lexus LS 400, Mercedes e320, etc. the e430 proved to be the car for me. 30+ mpg hwy at 75 - 80 mph. Quiet, comfortable, most E320 options are standard. This car feels soft but as soon as you push it a bit in hunkers down and handles! Great stereo and seats! Find a reputable independent shop and maintain it well. Find a well maintained carfax certified model. Itll never be as care free as a Camry, but it will never drive like one either!

  • Love this car - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Ive only had this car for a few months but I have enjoyed driving it like no other. I previously had an 400E years ago and I couldnt wait to get another. I love this body style, even more so than the new E500. It is a very comfortable and family friendly car. There is plenty room in the back for car seats, DVD players, toys, etc. Also, the pickup is very good--it makes my last sports sedan, a BMW 528i, seem like a slug.

  • 315K and Going Strong - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I bought mine new in 99 and now has 315,000 miles and going strong. Replaced engine mounts about a year ago and shocks and struts a few years ago -- not that they absolutely had to be replaced, but it was a bit of an improvement. Body is close to perfect, as is the interior. Still has the original 16-year old battery, and last winter we had 10 consecutive days of below zero temps, and it started up every time without a hitch! This car was overbuilt (before Mercedes went to Chrysler and back). Basically, all that Ive done is change the synthetic oil every 10K miles and, of course, periodic tire and brake changes. If you can pick one up which has been well maintained, you will NOT be disappointed. Very smooth and powerful ride, and still getting 25 mph on the highway (and best cruise control of any car I ever owned).

  • Swapped the SUV - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Family of 6 swapped the Expedition for the wagon. We had nothing to tow and make up for the cargo space with a Thule cartop carrier (when all 6 of us are in the car). We avg 23 mpg hwy and 21 city (10+ better than the EXP.) AWD (4matic) is a must for us in Alaska and performed great last winter in the snow and ice. We used Nokian snow/alpine rated studless tires. The kids love it(11,9,5,6mo)it is wide enough that there is none of the "Hes touching me!". The third row seat is big enough for the 11 and 9 yr old to sit comfortably. Well drive it til it dies.

  • Crossing 275k - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Couldnt be a happier owner. Purchased a formerly leased car with 43,000 miles and have just crossed 275,000 miles with zero problems of any significance. Of course have had some things wear out that are normal, but the car remains powerful and absolutely dependable. Much better car than the 1990 Lexus 400 it replaced in 2003.

  • It doesnt get any better than this! - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

The E300 Turbodiesel is a great car. Have loved it since the first day we drove it home. The diesel gets between 30-35 mpg and there is no problem with power. Wonderful ride, am looking forward to many wonderful years of great service.
