Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Outstanding vehicle - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Incredible power (350 ho, 400 torque) fantastic handling, hard to believe it is a four door sedan. Also have an 02 E430 and this outperforms in every way. Im getting 22 MPG on the highway at 70 - 80 MPH average, better than my 6 cylinder 95 legend (which is also a great car). Most amazing thing is unlimited power along the entire power curve, no lag anywhere. Handling is fantastic, maintains a flat stance in any curve and super quick response.

  • My First Benz - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Bought this car for my wife as her retirement presents, 5 yrs to go before actual early retirement hoping this will be her last car. Fell in love with the new design and all its options. Got the P2 package, parktronic, and sports option. Other options are just not practical but add to the cost. A little disappointed with the trunk space, cannot accommodate golf bags in any directions without removing the long clubs but diagonally. It can accommodate 3 bags w/ big sticks removed and placed elsewhere(inside or in the trunk diagonally). The tint is not that dark compared to other cars. GPS is not text 2 speech. Overall, very pleased with the car: its name recognition, reputation, and durability.

  • great car, poorly built - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

love the ride, handling, features, styling, etc. this is my first european sedan-- friends warned me about quality problems but i bought it anyway because i really liked the overall vehicle ride and impression. however, its been recalled twice and the rocker arms need to be replaced. all this at 20,000 mi. mb needs to get its act together on build quality! if i were not now gunshy about quality/reliability, i d have almost nothing but good things to say. only complaints about performance and design are power/acceleration and the cupholders-- agree with other reviewers they are a little hokey.

  • Love my Benz - 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is my 3rd Mercedes. I bought this 2.5 years ago with 75,000 miles and have 120,00 on it now. Routine maintenance is more expensive, but at the end of the day, Im not driving a Honda and dont expect this to act/cost like one. I love the feel, the weight, and the safety. My gas mileage is getting better with time. (22/30 respectively) I could not be happier! Know what youre buying (good maintenance history, hasnt been abused) and know what to expect (its more expensive to maintain).

  • Love my 2013 E350 - 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

32,800 miles since previous review with no service needs other than routine maintenance. Because I drive more than 35,000 miles a year on business and typically buy a 3-year old car and turn it in at 300,000 miles, durability, reliability, comfort and safety count much more than the cache of a luxury auto. My previous auto, a 2007 E350, was great, but the added technology in the 2013 model - better fuel economy more safety features and better storage - is a remarkable improvement.

  • new owner - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

just bought two 4 matic 2014s in nov 2016 with 14 k and 11k miles. polar white and indigo blue colors are beautiful. really impressed with the cars. classic grille and tri star on hood-hate the sport package grille and placement of the MB emblem. traded 08 e 350 for one of them. the 08 was a fine car but this new model is better, at least for 2014. Both cars are cpo luxury models. thought both purchase prices were good based on original msrp. have most options but not all of em. great highway car. electric steering at 65+mph straight as an arrow with no vibration. dont buy sport package unless your roads are perfect, too harsh a ride. love the dash and IP layout, analog clock gorgeous, even the fake metal surrounds look good. ride is very good on bumps but not great. handling in corners sufficient, brakes high and tight pedal. must have radio ON to enable back up camera-dumb! leds are bright-love em. wife loves her car too.

  • Buyer Beware - Please read - 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Ive been a Mercedes owner for 10 years now, and loved my cars. I started with a C class and then three E classes after that. I just picked the 2017 E300. Ive never been so disappointed... First, let me say that Im a very experienced technology consultant. The COMMAND system is way too techie. Many features take multiple actions, sometimes 6+ if everything goes right, and it frequently doesnt because of the swipe action. This makes it incredibly distracting to the driver, I hate to say it, but I feel unsafe changing the song in my car while driving. There are way too many inconsistencies in the rest of the electronics to spell them all out, but I highly encourage any potential buyer to take the car for a minimum of a couple of hours and really test it out, especially the COMMAND system. A few small things to note. There is no CD player. The engine is a turbo charged 2.0, I was told 3.0. Voice control is fair at best, Id call it poor myself. On three separate occasions, the COMMAND system went blank, froze, and was completely blank. The dashboard clock continued to work and the COMMAND clock stayed at the same time. Remote features via MB mbrace, a whole slew of problems, again, too many to list. The dealership told me that its not uncommon to have some problems with a new car, but I strongly disagree. I bought a Mercedes Benz. There is an expectation that I have as a customer that they are providing a superior product, in this case, my expectations were not meet; not even close. Ive never any problems with my other cars, not even close to this. Last, but not least, my check engine light came on with less than 100 miles on the car. I would say buyer beware for sure, and trust me, I hate to have to say that.

  • A FINE AUTOMOBILE - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I have driven MBs since 1967. Every new model is better than the previous one. This is our sixth wagon. It is practical, economical to operate, and one of the most enjoyable cars I have driven. Have a E500 wagon on order.

  • AWESOME! - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I traded an 08 BMW535 for this car, (I also own an 08 S5504matic) and I have to say I am really impressed! MB has done its work with the new E. It really does compare to my S class in so many ways, it is hard to justify the difference! This car gets looks everywhere you go and it does stand out! If you are in the market, buy this car...you wont regret it. Dont expect outstanding mileage, but with 700 miles i am averaging 23.3..not bad

  • Full of problems - 1995 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

My experience was not good at all, I paid more in repairs in one year than the car was worth. I bought it with 113k miles and within one year I had to replace the transmission, head gasket, neutral safety switch, ignition tumbler, blower motor regulator, combination relay. Im sure there is more that I am forgetting. Of course, the previous owners might have played a big part in these issues, but after reading the online forums apparently most have these issues. According to my mechanic the wiring harness also crumbles but I never waited for that and sold it to buy a Honda.
