Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Best Car I Ever Owned - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

My E500 is the best car I have ever owned or driven. Since picking it up in Nov 2003 it been a wonderful machine to drive. It handles easily and has great get-up-and-go when necessary. I just wish that somehow auto engineers could do away with the ever so slight hesitency when accelerating - something every automatic has. There is also a safety feature I dont like. If you brake with your left foot (I do), you cant accelerate while your foot is even slightly on the brake. Overall though it is a beautiful, wonderful, fun car to drive. If youre thinking about getting one - go ahead and youll be glad you did.

The car is perfect. The car just goes once you put your foot on the gas. The GPS is amazing. The directions it gives you are way better than BMWs GPS system. Other features I like are distronic, its really helpful on a long drive.I also like the push button starter altough you could get mixed-up when changing the gears. Also the solar panels are great for hot days because when you leave the car outside for a long time the solar panel would use its energy to keep the car cool.

Since Dec 2002, Ive had 5 visits to Mercedes service. Once for the B service, others for a noisy break pedal, After the B service, I took it back for a dead audio system, and two days after a Flash update, I took it in for an error in the audio system, and defective SOS system. This is my 3rd Mercedes since 1999 and if things dont improve, it will be my last.

  • Wonderful Ride - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Recently purchased the E500 at several thousand under dealer invoice. This car is fantastic. It has great power, comfort, and with the adjustable suspension, a great ride for any occasion. The dynamic seats are a feature Ill never be without again. The mileage is good considering the power and my heavy foot. Better than 27 mpg highway and 22 overall per the onboard computer. Navigation makes driving in new places a breeze. Takes the guess work out of knowing where you are. The transmission is smooth, but the brakes are a bit touchy. Takes a while to get used to them. My other car is a C320 and it now feels slugish by comparison.

I read Edmunds reviews before buying 03-E500 Sport Pkg. I have 825 miles on car & like many others right out of the box it pulled to the right. If u buy tell dealer to put eccentric bolt kit in ASAP. Car washes- sharks fin antenna WILL CATCH - $300 to rewire. The electric brake pedal seems over stated, really no big deal.OEM pads black dust bad. Forget the COMMAND & NAV systems. Side view mirrows mount location seems odd to see correctly. Need to cover door sills & install dead pedal. Cup holders are dumb. I waited for late production car to fore go the early electronic bugs.Cant tune radio pre- sets from steering wheel.Buying, go w/ E500 over 320.

Great car, this is my third German Car, first was a new 06 BMW 325, then a 98 MB C230. I loved that old Benz so much I had to have a newer one. This car is wonderful on fuel, getting me almost 31 MPG on the HWY, and the driver side is nice and spacious. Im giving this car to my wife so she can experience how great a luxury car can be. I still have the 98 C230 and it has 200K on it now, and I plan to try and get at least 300K out of it.

This car is great! Very safe and comfortable. The handling really is amazing, and it gets great gas mileage. Navigation has been very handy and the Bose speakers sound good. Wish I had heated seats as they are cold in the mornings.
