Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • This should not happen to Mercedes - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

2007 E320 Bluetec V6 Diesel, Nothing major but bunch of small stuff that disables car for days. Cracked inter-cooler hoses, failed Mass Air Flow sensors, Failed EGR valve, Clogged DPF filter, scary one was when fuel filter clamp failed, sprayed fuel on hot turbocharger and ignited, my lucky day I was standing in traffic so I was able to see cloud of the smoke coming under the hood and can of soda put the fire out (I should let it burn). All this under 74K miles. This is my 8th Mercedes and seams that newer the car more problems with it.

  • My First Experience with M-B - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Bought this car with 32,000 miles on it, and have put about 9,000 on it since. Beautiful styling was the initial attraction. Overall pleased with ride and handling and fuel economy. Occasionally get over 30 mpg on highway trips. Transmission is unpredictably jerky at low speeds on occasion. Radio cuts off by itself, stays off for a few seconds, then comes back on in CD mode. Dealer not been able to fix. Brakes very touchy also. Overall impression is great design and engineering (except for the cupholders, what were they thinking?) but overall poor execution. Weve been more pleased with the BMWs weve had. The M-B has fewer features and not near the quality of my daughters 2006 Accord EX

  • Best Sedan - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This absolutely the best driving sedan I have ever purchased. The CDI is a awsome engine. On highway driving 85mph, I am still getting 35mpg, and in the city I am getting 24mpg, but again I have a lead foot!

  • 1st year in the shop over 2 months - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I have had a BMW, Lexus and really liked the 2010 E350...so I purchased a CPO one. And that is where the nightmare began. The navigation system randomly freezes, the stereo system/phone system is on but no sound. MB says its the software...hmmm but cannot be the hw according them them. The rear bumper was literally not fitting in properly...they said that happens?? WOW ok. The rear passenger door was not aligned with the car...they said that happens with time! The window would open on its own...they replaced the window, and said...its fixed...but it was not, they finally changed the motor and now its fixed. Worst experience I can imagine! Perhaps a Yugo would be better!?!

  • Great car - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Love the automobile. Tire wear has been good. I just recently replaced them. This is the best experience I have had with any automobile in this area. My first experience with a lexury automoble. Bad experience with light bulbs- I have never owned an automobile that burned out so many, Merecedes replaced all of them under warrenty except the last two. They were marker lights and were easy to replace.Total cost for both was $2.25. Experience with the dealership has been great except that a mechanic missed a bad tire once. Cupholder in front is not the greatest.

  • First diesel - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I wanted the performance of an 8 cylinder at the cost of a six and found it with the E320 CDI. Fantastic appearance and acceleration. Not crazy about Mercedes service. Warranty work seems hard to get unless their computer shows a fault even though mechanic diagnosed problem during test drive. The car "bucks" briefly when pulling out from a stop.

My E300D now has 205,000 miles - have replaced some wear items - front ball joints, 1 wheel bearing and the combo switch - but still basicly trouble free. I plan to put another 100k on and hopefully by then the new E320CDI (which is a fabulous car) will be affordable on the used market.

  • In the MB Tradition - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This is my third MB and has been the best thus far. I previously had a 97 C280 and 2001 C320, which I traded after experiencing the first year design problems for 3 years. I was reluctant to buy another MB, especially a new model year; however after test driving this car, I could not resist. I purchased the car used (40 miles) and currently have over 8000 miles on the car and havent had one complaint. This car has restored my faith in MB.

  • The true Mercedes-Benz - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I bought this car when it was less than 6 months old with 4000 miles on it. I have had no problems with it at all and the drive and fuel economy is excellent. My only problem is that it is a bit too conservative for me, but after all Im coming from a V8 BMW. But youve got to love the 37MPG for the 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. The interior is so much nicer than any of its competitors and there is enough space for 4 adults, even for long drives. I have installed the iPod option after market and it is the best thing you can ask for. Forget CD changers!

  • Awesome Driving Abilities and High Quality - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This car handles so well, it hugs curves and feels like its gripping the road. It fun to drive and very comfortable. Ive never owned a Mercedes before and I am thrilled with my new purchase. The interior is comfortable and is made of all quality materials. It looks and feels luxurious and I feel very safe in the car. The navigation is good but its not as good as my phone navigation. I can just type in a place and then click directions on my phone. On the nav in the car I need to go to POI (points of interest) and then find the place and/or know the address so its a bit more complicated than my phone. But once its in the car I can save it and go right to it next time so thats a plus. The car is just beautiful inside and out. Sleek lines and curves right where they should be. I love the side mirror "warning" lane change feature (or blind spot feature). If a car is next to me there is a small red light on my mirror, when the car moves out of my blind spot the red light turns yellow. It will beep if I try to make a lane change with someone too close to my blind spot. Its a very cool feature that I love. The rear view camera is also very nice and Im getting used to using it. Of course I still look back and check my mirrors as well but its quite helpful. I cant say enough about this car, Im in love!
