Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Luxury abound but underpowered - 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Full of luxury options but should have had a bigger engine option for the real drivers.

An outstanding looking car thats solid, sporty and fun to drive on the open road. The 350 v-6 is a little underpowered when accelerating, especially compared to my previous ride.....a BMW 335i ( 300hp, twin turbo) This car feels larger and more solid, and safer than the bimmer though, and its exterior design is sleeker and more attractive to my taste. Give Mercedes a lot of credit for upgrading its design and updating the technology in the E-class while reducing the MSRP by $5,000. This is an extremely good value in its class. My odometer just turned 1,000 miles and Ive averaged 22.4 mpg overall.

  • great!!....but... - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Had it for three months now. Really a nice car, beautifully designed in and out, but with some annoying glitches. Clicking noise when accelerate. Lost of radio signal, error messages of ABS,ESP, SOS tele-aid failures, but mysteriously corrected itself? Annoying vibration from the electronically controlled brake. Otherwise, it drives great. I am keeping my 1990 E300 just in case. That old car was built like a tank and without the aforementioned glitches.

  • First MB - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is my first Mercedes. Have owned BMW740 ( perhaps worst car I have ever owned) Infinity Q45, and Lexus LS 430. This car is as fun to drive as any of them . As far as ride quality goes, however, the Lexus is leaps and bounds in front of this car. However, I got this car for the performance and it has not let me down. This car jumps when your doing 40 and step on it. It is flat out fun to drive. My older Corvettes were to old to compare but insofar as fun factor, yea its right there. Seats are a little stiff, sound system is okay, nothing great. The nav system is so-so at best, seems like most in cars are years behind the cell phones anyway, but it does work.

  • Great Ride - 1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I acquired this car about a year ago with 62K. I knew the previous owner and its service history. Immediately had overdue maintenance performed by indy mechanic for about $700 (vs. dealer who wanted $1500). Have since put 12K on car with no new problems, and averaging over 25 mpg in mixed driving. The car is not without issues: LR window motor doesnt work, drivers mirror needs replacement. These are common problems with these cars. Essential to have service complete service history before purchasing one of these cars.

  • Are We There Yet - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The 2007 E550 offers many improvements over previous E models: 7 sp trans, 5.5 ltr motor and no electric brakes. I have just completed a trip to LV from OC and MB still needs to work on the air suspension. No setting works well. The AMG E-63 suspension (recalibration of the air suspension and thicker sway bars)which has had great reviews cannot be ordered on the E550, even though the 550 has 382HP? The E550 also comes with R rated M & S tires? The front rotors are cross drilled yet R rated tires? Per the owners manual if speeds over 100mph are anticipated the tires must be over inflated which may cause rough riding around town? If you like the styling drive a 550 BMW.

  • Great Design - 1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I purchased this car as a certified pre-owned 12years ago, it was my first Mercedes. Until you have owned one for a period of time, you can not appreciate the brand and what Mercedes about. Over the years, we have made some costly repairs rear seal replacement and transmission replacement, but the car now has 257K on it and when compared to newer cars, I will still take my chances with this car. I have given it to my daughter as a first car, we considered a trade for new more up to date car, only problem we could not find a better safe first time car. Find a knowledgable Mercedes mechanic and enjoy a great car.

  • Favorable - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is the second "E" class I have owned. The first was an E320 Cab. Both cars are first rate. The only slight disappointment has been the gas mileage. My hope is that this will improve by the end of its first year. This hope is based upon the belief that the car will break-in and get better. Hope this is true. The ride and handling is as expected -- and quite good. I look forward to many years of driving pleasure.

  • No thanks - 1995 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Not impressed with this Mercedes. The brakes sqweel when coming to a stop. No cup holders, glove box, or storage. At around 60K the fuel pump, steering pump, headlight switch, sun roof switch, mirror switch, and exhoust pipe failed. Constently replacing the tailight bulbs. The stereo sucks, the seats are too hard, the accelerator is too stiff, and I had to stuff foam everywhere in the back panels to cut down on the road noise! The car does drive nice however...

  • Beware of the E Class Defroster - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

The E Class defroster has no adjustment. Full temperature only on the windshield and interior of car. Makes for an oven when on. Doesnt cut off automatically. Had I known this, I would not have bought a $55K Mercedes.
