Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Fantastic Car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

After owning 3 BMWs, I decided to give MB a shot. My switch was mostly driven by the fact that I needed an all wheel drive car, a feature that BMW had neglected for a while. My first Benz was a 2003 C320 W4 and I loved it. This year I decided to upgrade to an E- Class and I could not be happier. This is the first car that combines the level of cornering, torque, stability, that I loved about my BMWs, added to amazing agility and impeccable maneuvering. The luxurious quality interior is MB dignified. The sleek, but classic exterior is sure to turn heads. Although the price was steep, it was worth every penny.

  • The best Ive owned - 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Ive owned a bunch of different nice luxury cars over the years including a Cadillac CTS, 3 Series BMW, 5 older Mercedes Benz cars and when I was trying to figure out what to buy I compared the E Class to several others like the Acura TL, Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series. This car is by far the nicest Ive owned or driven. It is very stylish and even with the 3.5L V6 it gets up and goes!!!! The Paddle shifts make you feel like a race car driver when you are getting on the freeway. Mine has the Sports package and the P1 Package and it looks killer in black with the low profile 18" wheels. I get compliments on it from any one who sees it or rides in it. Great car!!! 44k Miles so far so good.

  • Not Thrilled with MB - 1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I bought this car used and loved the style of it. I have had several problems with it including replacing both electric window motors in the back and constantly have light bulbs blowing out. The electric seats will move in the opposite direction when pushing the buttons. I took out a BMW 540 yesterday and couldnt believe the pickup vs. the E420.

  • Totaled one to appreciate it! - 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

A bit Boring. But let me tell you, this car is a life saver! I had the car for three, effortless, worry free years. That is until one day when someone took a left turn onto 45-50 mph oncoming traffic. She is fine (wiplash etc, lasceration but walked away)I walked away with very minor effect. No pain, No problems! Car: total loss! The E320 went into its Teutonic engineer mode and protected me admirably. The air bag deployed, yet never hit me, but was there "just in case". The passenger compartment integrity was superb! Crumple zones worked, absorbing the crash without serious or lasting injury. THANKS Mercedes!

Great car! Since new it gets 30-32mpg on highway trips and 21-22mpg on daily 14 mile comute on surface streets! Very quick acceleration and handles well at high speeds. Catalytic converters both expired at 73000 miles, just within the warranty. Front lower control arm had to be replaced at 70,000 miles and the cost is pretty steep.

  • THE E320 CDI LETS ROLL - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Undoubtedly the best car I have ever owned. The performance and handling even compared to the basic model is without comparision. So far Ive had 4600 miles of trouble-free driving. Its very quick with its 369 lbs of torque and will even squeal if youre too heavy footed all while still delivering outstanding fuel economy.

  • Looks good but stays in the shop - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

After 3 years of owning a C320 I decided to upgrade to a E500. My C320 visited the workshop more than any of my cars but I thought the new models might be better. Well within 24-hours of delivery the car was on a tow truck. The alternater had died within the 1st 100 miles of the cars life. The fact that the factory and dealer tests did not find the bad alternater scared the hell out of me. What can I expect from this car?

Sturdy and elegant ,if staid, this car surprises me in its acceleration and quiet manners. It may be only a V6 but it really GOES. The transmission is the smoothest I have ever seen.

I bought the car with only 87000 Kms on it and fixed a few things and put on new top of the line tires. The car runs beautifully and I have few complaints. But I find the steering is very tight and the car reacts immediately at the very slightest movement of the steering wheel which when on the highway at 75 to 80 mph can be disconcerting. It also doesnt straighten out by itself after a turn and you have to help it by steering it back. On the highway I found a sudden gust of wind or even passing a large truck can cause the car to swerve and in one instance almost move me out of the lane I was in. Is this normal?? None of the cars I was following swerved as much.

  • not practical - 2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Little disappointed with the car. I own a 2005 gs300 and that car shifts, rides and seems way better than this 60k e class. I was very disappointed. Burning smell coming from vents, car shifts strange, non-digital dual climate control, cheap interior, dash is not bright, no H.I.D headlights for 60k, Navigation is Not user friendly. Cruise control gets mistaken for turn signal. Too many unnecessary features. Does not ride as good as my 05 lexus.
