Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Great Performance with fair reliability - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The E500 is a dream to drive. The HarmonKardon stereo was impressive until my stereo system failed. It appears that there is a bug in the "communications gateway" and it will need to be replaced. This is a known issue (see other reviews) and requires a day in service. Besides a cracked glove compartment button, I have no other complaints.

  • Best used car for the money! - 1995 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I had a Subaru Sti and replaced it with this. This is truly the last great Mercedes convertible! More like a rolls than a BMW. Elegant without being flashy. Great smooth transmission without a too big engine. Plenty of power but really a luxury car, not a sports car.

  • Mercedes Diesel - 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Have been purchasing automobiles for 40 years, and this was my fifth(5) Mercedes. I have owned 1997 BMW740il, 1998 BMW328iC, Cadillacs, Pontiacs, 1961 Austin Healy. My 1998 E300TD is the best all around vehicle I have ever owned. Great mileage(>30mph), excellent handling and ride comfort, 0-60 in 8.5 seconds and 135mph top end with superb reliability. I have put on 91,000 road miles in 4 years with not one problem! I will sell this vehicle in the next few months because Mercedes has just announced they are bringing the diesel back to the US in the E class, a E270CDI, that will get 40mph.

  • Top Notch - 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This car is tight, controlled and the only car I have driven that has zero wind noise under any conditions. The only problem a first was the Goodyear tires that vibrated at highway speeds. Once they were replaced by Michelins this cars was like a jewel.

  • Incredible car - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I bought this car after having driven its larger, S-class, cousin in Europe. I rented one for a week and, after a week of driving in the mountains and highways of northern Italy was amazed at how few liters of fuel went into the tank before returning it. Impressed, I bought an E-class shortly after my return. I have not been disappointed. Its performance is nothing short of phenomenal both in 0-60 terms and when passing at highway speeds. Better yet it consistently delivers 37-38mpg on trips and in the high 20s around town. Coupled with its comfort and handling, its clearly the best car Ive ever owned. My only complaint is that the HVAC controls are needlessly complex.

  • Wow, nice car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Picked this up as a MB certified used car and I am much impressed. On paper my wifes Acura RL should drive better, but it doesnt. This car is amazing and fun to drive when ask it to, while at the same time being ultr-lux when you want it to be. The 7 speed auto keeps the car in the highest torque zone in sport mode, and makes it feel like a much more powerful car. Great work, my first Benz, it wont be my last.

  • My "Awesome E" - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I bought my CPO 2007 E350 just a couple of weeks ago. This makes my 7th Mercedes-Benz. I currently also own a 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK350. This car is just amazing! It is quiet, fast, sleek and so comfortable. Mine is black on black with the Sport Package and Premium 1 package. In a word, the car is stunning! My previous MBs have included another E class, two S classes, an SL and a C class. This E is just perfect...not too big and not too small. I cant wait to take it on a long trip. The build quality and workmanship is terrific and I feel confident driving it and very well protected.

This is an amazing car. It can beat Vipers and Ferraris at stoplights but still has the panache to check in at the Four Seasons. A great vehicle!

It is a great car. Design and execution is great. My only complain is the one feature which I purchase and did not get is the active lights option. MB should have informed their customer when they delayed a feature as I custom order this car.
