This Year's Model Updates:

The E-Class sedan is completely redesigned this year. A more elegant body, along with more power for the V8 model and more luxury (including four-zone climate control and an optional massaging driver seat), bring the latest midsize Benz up to date. Last year's E-Class station wagon, however, carries over into 2003 virtually unchanged.

Pros:
  • Legendary solidity, effortless performance, state-of-the-art safety features.
Cons:
  • Firm ride for a luxury sedan, touchy brakes.

  • Great car, fun, classy, smooth - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I was a bit underwhelmed when the new E- class came out last summer. The look seemed to "Americanized." But once I drove one, all my concerns faded, quickly. Powerful, smooth, and a blast to drive. The interior has to be one of the most classy and well designed interiors ever. Also - endless praise for the airmatic suspension. At the touch of a button you can go from a mild mannered stately drive to a hard, sport-infused suspension. Awesome. A few nits on these cars. There are some annoying bugs that have cropped up in the first year model. Most seem to be related to the numerous computer systems at work.

  • MB delivers the goods - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I have owned MBs since 1985 and this is by far their best mid-sized car ever. It offers exceptional performance, ergonomics and comfort in a beautifully styled package, with very few quality glitches so far (I bought the car in September 2002). The excellent service provided by the dealer adds to the pleasure of owning the car. MB at its best is in a class of its own. Although there is scope for some minor improvements, I give the car a perfect 10 to help compensate for the absurdly low ratings by some other reviewers.

  • Wouldnt Trade It For The World - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The New E class is by far, the finest sedan I have experienced. Roomy, comfortable, and smooth! If you havent, DRIVE IT!

  • E-500 - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

My E-500 has been in the shop 5 weeks out of the last 52 weeks for radio, telephone problems and to replace windshield and rear glass due to scratches at delivery. The shop then scratched the paint and it had to be repaired. I think theyve finally solved the radio/telephone problems just last week. Otherwise, the performance of the engine and comfort ride are great.

  • Dissapointed - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This $50K car has spent too much time at the dealership for minor repairs. I feel high tech has gone too far with this vehicle. For example, rain sensor windshield wipers, automatic seat adjustment, these two things have never worked and dealer has not been able to fix. Oil level too high, this keeps appearing as a malfunction on computer screen. Gas cap has to be frequently repaired. Winshield wipers make awful scraping noise even when wet, dealer also unable to fix. Very dissapointing auto

  • What a GREAT car!!!!!!! - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

OK, Im going to say it right up front - This is my first luxury car and I WANT to like it, not pick it apart! And like it I do!! From the stylish looks, to the bells and whistles, to the high-tech brakes - - this is a nice, fun car to drive, and it turns plenty of heads! For the life of me, I cant figure out the 3.4 rating the other Reviewer gave it, unless he was just trying to make a statement. This is NOT a 3.4 car - its a well-made, comfortable, quiet ride!

  • E500, Wow! - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I purchased my E 500 this past month. The ride is wonderful, insulating me from the dreaded potholes of Chicago. Acceleration is strong and build quality is excellent. Better than my BMW. Fit and finish is very precise and everything works as it should. This is a keeper!

  • Perfection with four doors - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The first time you dip your toe into the accelerator on this E55, you know you made the right choice. The engine howls and, if there is sufficient traction available, the car rockets forward. Leather quality is supreme. This is my third E55 and exceeds my expectations. I also drive an SL55 and the E55 feels tighter and a better handler.

  • Beautiful car - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Very beautiful car to drive. very reliable. I only send it to the shop every 12000 miles for check up. No mechanical or electrical problem.

  • 2003 - Sport Pkg going strong - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Great car & a joy to drive short or long distance. Could use more HP, but then fuel milage would also suffer. Better milage, lower HP. I think 8s is a good number for this cars power. Perhaps quality has suffered a bit since the merge, but overall well engineered.
