Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

This has been the worst vehicle for warranty repairs. I have had both outside mirrors replaced, one for a crack that appeared during the first Wisconsin winter and the second for a bad motor. I have had a water pump, a mass air flow sensor, an oxygen sensor, a fuel tank sensor, a window motor, a radiator bracket, both front end tie rods, the drivers seat leather cover replaced, and finally the passenger side visor (the automatic vanity mirror switch failed) replaced.

  • Every Car should be a Diesel - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Finally, after 30 years of dreaming of buying a Mercedes Diesel, I finally have one. I purchased a used 2006 E320 CDI in November of 2009. I am beyond impressed. First, the vehicles systems are easy to access, air, fuel and air filters all are easy to access and change. I am a bit of a technical nut so this is important and it should be important to every person as it makes repairs cheaper. This car is built like a panzer tank. It effortlessly cruises at 100 and the economy is uncanny. I routinely get 40 MPG in MIXED DRIVING. My best is 45 MPG on a trip on Maine. This car is Quiet, and remarkable powerful. It blows away my BMW 3 series. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!

  • Superb Style-Some bugs to work out - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

We purchased the 2004 E320 and have been driving it for 6 months now. Our Car is very stylish and fun to drive. It has fairly responsive performance, a very smooth ride and is very comfortable. Our car feels very safe and secure while maintaining a feel of agility on the road. One problem that it has been in the shop for, (4 times) is the auto exit feature. (Steering wheel and seat move back when you turn the car off) This glitch was very puzzling to the dealership. Luckily the service from our dealership with a loaner car etc, made this experience somewhat less irritating.

  • Not What It Once Was - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Ive owned several Mercedes Benz in the past, and I always loved the E Class. I really like the lines on the new E so I traded my 97 E 320 for this one. Its been in the shop far too many times, and I rarely drive it anymore. Ive replaced speakers, shocks, rear window, and have had several electrical issues. I traded my wifes ML430 for a BMW 5 Series, and I can tell you first hand, its a much better product. We liked the 5 Series so much, I bought a Z4 the next month. My lease is up in 11 months, and its by by Mercedes and welcome to another BMW. I hope Mercedes gets its act together; they have such beautiful cars.

  • This is my third MB - 1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

This is my third MB, and my second diesel, and I have enjoyed every one. Even though the 97 Diesel in a non turbo it has plenty of go. My fuel mileage averages upper 20s around town to low thirties on the highway. I bought the car with 106K on the odo and after two years and at 135K on the odo the only major maintenance required has been changing the glow plugs, which requires pulling the intake manifold. The car is a joy to drive, and I constantly get compliments on its looks. I guess I am just fortunate because I have not experienced the problems with any of my MBs that so many others in this forum seem to have. I hope to always be fortunate enough to own an MB.

  • Never again with RBM of Atlanta - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Way too many electrical problems and repeat visits to the selling dealership to continually repeat repairs and fix new problems arising from related repairs.

I had an Audi RS6 which was fast, but it doesn’t compare to the power, handling and overall performance of my new E55 AMG. I love it, I love every moment I’m in the car driving it. My Audi RS6 didn’t deliver the same for me. I can easily tell how much faster my E55 is over the Audi. I have my car at a race track doing 12.2 quarter mile.

  • Great Car - 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I have owned three Mercedes E Class cars since 2000. Subtle cut backs on quality, trying to keep the cost down, did not distract from the overall performance. The ride, handling and performance are still first class, making the car a good value for the money.

  • Mercedes-Benz diehard - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

They can get ALL they need to know by asking owners/leasers of this vehicle. Best $28K vehicle I ever purchased. Just a few goodies short of the 2010 E550 in Quartz Blue (why on earth did M-B drop that awesome color?) with beige interior and LOADED! Unfortunately, I totaled it on a mountain road in Northern California, rolling it over on the roof with 2 untethered dogs and we all walked away with NO injuries whatsoever! Thats Mercedes-Benz for you. My insurance company gave me $40,000, I paid only $36K. I then used that sum to purchase a 2009 Mercedes SL550 Roadster for $50K. Lotta fun, that one! But now, reality has set in, I am over 75 and am pleased as punch with the 2014 E350 4MATIC. "Nuff said!

  • The worst car ever - 2001 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Ive owned this car for almost a year and it is horrible. My 92 Lexus SC400 with 149k is better made and more reliable than my Mercedes. Mass air sensor went without any warning, air conditioning is terrible and makes noise, display on radio is distorted. Parts are way too expensive, and car is very unreliable. Anyone considering a Benz, I would strongly recommend a Lexus. Toyota puts out a much better product at a better price, with better quality.
