Model Overview:

A favorite in the midsize luxury car class, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided an appealing mix of comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and cutting-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class' great popularity among luxury buyers.

Over the years, the E-Class has been offered as a sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Contemporary E-Class models come loaded with luxury features and offer stunning acceleration in higher trim levels, with diesel power available if you want to maximize your fuel economy. The E-Class has never been the sportiest car in its segment, but its handling has improved significantly in recent years. Rivals are better in certain respects, but if you're looking for the complete package in a medium-size luxury car, an E-Class will be hard to beat.

  • Overpriced Chrysler - 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Road noise got to me, steering lifelless and too light.Good dart if you floor it & wait for 1 sec, otherwise, tiring in both S & C mode. Daft ergonomics. Steering column gear shifter and foot parking brakes are MB signatures that should be killed in the 80s. Signal stalk should be where the cruise control stalk is. And the turning knob for wipers is so Chrysler/Ford. Thirsty. Dash designs looks like a cross btw a Honda/Camaro - cheap. Cheap also applies to rear air vent plastic housing. BMW/Audi beater it is not. Maybe will give a 300M run for the money. Oh, sorry, wrong price bracket. Nav system display & voice command out of sync and that lifting intonation at end of sentence - AARG

  • Worst vehicle - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

After owning Lexus and BMW I was excited when MB offered the E500 4- matic. This vehicle has been nothing but a disappointment. The transmission is not smooth and overrevs. At times there is a delay when starting to accelerate that is unpredictable and dangerous. The braking system is noisy and very hard to adapt to in order to come to a smooth stop. The a/c system is a joke. When it starts to run on hot day it revs so loud people outside the vehicle stare thinking something is wrong. I have had this car back to the dealer numerous times and I am always told that is just the way the car is! I would never recommend this vehicle.

  • Will Never Buy MB Again! MB=German Lemon - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

First and last MB I will ever buy! Since I bought the car, I noticed that the car pulls hard to the right. Its like MB built the car crooked. Whats even worse is that MB tried to make me pay for alignment!Service has been poor and 2nd rate compared to Infiniti & Lexus. Even after alignment, car still pulls to right. CD player failed 3 times, battery was replaced, left speaker fell off, gas mileage not as great as advertised, climate control failed. Car is too heavy for the engine especially when accelerating from a stop & transmission jerks when shifting from 1st to 2nd at slow traffic speeds. Amazing how a $60g engine is less refined than a $20g Honda.

I own a E500 and it is not worth 60,000 dollars. The inside is cheap looking the braking it elctronic, the engine sounds like a civic and its handling is not the best. It is a nice looking car but I would not reccommend it. I have driven the 2003 540i 6-speed and man is that a nice car, its simple, fast, fun and with the new body work its still up there with the E in looks.

  • Brand New E-350 MB- DONT Do IT! - 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I bought a brand new 4Matic E-350 Benz in JAN 2011. The car needs a transmission. I have been fighting with MB USA to just give me an even trade. I now see I paid TOO MUCH for it because they want me to take a $16K negitive equity. Im very dissapointed in the customer service that I have received. I would never recommend anyone purchase an E calss or any other car from MB in Alex, VA. I needed a car with all wheel drive so I traded in my 2002 S-class for the 2011 E-class; BIG mistake. I went back the next day to get my car and they sold it. What does that say? All I want to remedy the situation is a fair trade in. They have offered to pay my notes for 2 months! NOT HAPPY.

The E350 is chintzy. It manfiests the dreadful consequences of the abominable decision MB made in the early 1990s consciously to debase the quality of the fine automobiles on whose splendid engineering and construction MBs century-old reputation had been built. Those of us who knew the quality that once epitomized MB can tell the difference with but a moments inpsection. The car has 2 batteries to support needless electronic junk; one battery has already failed. There is a bicycle spare tire. The barely used radio produces an echo sounding like crows cawing in the background. Just touching the "bumper" to a sleeping cat can cost $300. The Mercedes Benz we knew belongs to the ages.

  • 2017 Mercedes Benz E300 - 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Ive had quite a few E Class Mercedes, but just tested the new 2017 and wont consider it. It is only available with a tiny, 2.0 litre 4 cylinder, about half the size of the prior E Class models sold in the US. If you are not a car person this might be ok, but Im interested in the mechanical side of the car and this one is a loser! Under hard acceleration the car is "screaming" under the load. While MB is trying to trick customers by added two speeds to the tranny, you cant disguise the characteristics of the 4 cylinder. Open the hood, it makes the typical 4 cylinder noise. If I wanted a car with a tiny standard engine (no options) then why not get a Hyundai Excel or similar? There are AMG models coming, but only with the so called "sport" styling which is anathema to MB purists, not too mention who needs that much horsepower. A 300 HP six like Audi or BMW offer, in addition to their 4 cylinder offerings is fine. A smooth refined 6 is appropriate in a car in this class. I am aware that in Europe small engines are the norm, even in the E Class, but at least you can get a diesel that is better than the 2.0 "mouse motor". If you like cars, Id steer clear of the 2017 E Class. Wonder what compromises MB thought they were making to make this engine mandatory. One more thing, its a gas hog also. 24 mpg rating, my E350 with 61 HP more and faster acceleration gets 23 mpg, So what benefit does the buyer get to live with a new E class thats noisier and slower than the outgoing model? One mpg! Not a good trade off in my opinion.

  • It can stay in the garage - 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Have driven my new car for a few months now and I am not a fan of this car. The road noise is not blocked out by the body insulation. The various knobs and dials are from ten years ago as is the NAV system. Cant wait to get rid of this car.

  • hopeless mercedes benz - 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Never buy a mercedes unless you want to overpay for a completely unreliable vehicle. Buying one is like losing money, and keeping one is like throwing good money after bad! I bought a brand new 2009 E350. Six months of ownership, and 3 problems, 2 trips to the shop, 1 tow, 1 battery recharge...and worse of all, tons of aggravation and frustration dealing with Mercedes Benz.

  • Stay away from this car - 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Our car had issues as soon as we drove it off the lot, loose parts, noises, uncomfortable seat, rough/unpredictable transmission shifting, and vibration. We did not test drive the car beforehand because we are very familiar with the car having driven several over the years. The first week we had it (and if you have any issues, immediately turn around and get your money back) it was in service, loose parts fixed, two new tires, reprogrammed transmission. Still vibrated, still shifted poorly, so it went back again and again, all four tires have been replaced and the MB "expert" attributes the vibration to "road feel" which is most certainly is not. Car still shifts unpredictably at times.
