This Year's Model Updates:

For 2010, the Mazda CX-7 gets a refresh that brings a new SV trim level, a new base engine, higher fuel economy for the turbocharged engine, a revamped interior and a new face that shows off Mazda's bigger, happier grille.

Pros:
  • Sporty handling, strong performance from the turbocharged four-cylinder, solid build quality, attention-getting design, excellent safety ratings.
Cons:
  • Below-average interior utility, turbo engine is thirsty and its power delivery is not as smooth as that of V6 rivals.

  • 2010 CX-7 S Touring AWD Turbo - 2010 Mazda CX-7

After searching for 3 months for a crossover, I finally settled on this vehicle. The exterior is very sleek with its wide stance and cascading roofline that slopes downwards to the back of the vehicle. The interior is very comfortable with its heated leather seats. The controls and display on the inside are very nice and quite ergonomical as well. For the price I paid (just under $30K), the amenities it comes with cannot be matched. The turbocharged AWD engine provides the power you need at your beck and call and the AWD can handle any weather conditions here in RI. I have received numerous comments on the styling and how sharp it looks, and I couldn’t agree more.

I bought my 2010 Mazda CX-7 new. I was generally satisfied, though pretty annoyed with the fact that I was constantly being pulled over and told that one of my headlights was out - like every couple of months. This turned out to be a "known issue" for Mazdas according to one of the garage mechanics I talked to because I wasnt about to go to the dealer to have them replaced at several hundreds of dollars (they take off the front bumper or something) - the guy at the garage would sometimes have to spend 20-30 minutes fiddling around to manipulate the gasket to replace the bulb, but they never charged for more than the cost of the bulb. Anyway, I religiously change the oil with synthetic per recommendations and yes, it has 108,000 miles on it now, but just 2 months ago I replaced the wheel bearings in the rear drivers left side and put new front brakes in it to the tune of $800+ at the dealer. So, it would have been nice to have a heads up that is a significant chance that the turbocharger might fail and that if it does that it could lead to catastrophic engine failure. But no, instead that happens on one of the coldest nights of the year during rush hour. And they cant tell me if the turbocharger failure resulted in a blown engine which means the car is basically a hunk of junk or not. The dealer recommends that rather than spending the money on replacing the turbocharger since he doesnt know if that will fix it, I look to trading it in. Well, NOT on another Mazda! Grrrrr.

Purchased last day of September. Big time car buff and researched competing AWD cars for 2 weeks. Looked at Toyota Rav4 with V6, Santa Fe Ltd, Acura RDX. Mazda did a amazing job creating a sporty SUV for $2-5K less than above competing models. Read CX7 forum, had concerns with A/C, however, seems like kinks have been worked out for 2009 and above models.

The CX-7 is very sporty and fun to drive. The base engine has more pull than you would expect from 161 hp. It also gets decent fuel mileage for an SUV. I love the new exterior design and the upscale look and feel of the interior. The interior in the CX-7 is much more luxurious than the interior in the Saturn Vue I had test driven. The base alloy wheels look great as well.

  • Luxury feel without the high price! - 2010 Mazda CX-7

My husband and I test drove the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 but didnt like the feel or excessive cabin noise. Although those vehicles had nice features, we wanted something that offered a balance of comfort, smooth ride, and great fuel economy. We decided to test drive the CX7 and fell in love. We were both surprised at how smooth the ride was and the build quality was fantastic! The cabin is also so well insulated that we didnt even need to turn up the volume on the radio while driving on the freeway! Needless to say, we drove off with our new CX7 completely satisfied with our purchase.

  • Excellent SUV! - 2010 Mazda CX-7

Awesome SUV for the money, great options, awesome styling. Non-turbo motor has adequate power for most needs - strains a little w/ 4 passengers and luggage. Gets right at 30mpg on this highway, smooth quiet ride. OEM tires not the best in snow but excellent traction/stability control keeps the vehicle on track. iSport w/ convenience package is a terrific value. Adding factory fog lights makes the front end much better looking - too much empty black plastic areas on the front bumper w/o the fog lights.

Ive been driving the CX7 for 2 months. Its been driven through a foot of snow-no problem. Iced over roads- no problem. Heavy rain- no problem. The AWD has performed awesome. The leather interior is very comfortable, sound system is good, and the heated seats are nice. Been getting 19-20 mpg with 50/50 city/highway driving. The turbo is a blast. When I need it to move quickly, it does. Handling is as advertised. So far, its been great.

I picked up my CX7 2010 on November 13th, S Touring AWD. I did a lot of research before i bought it, and was very impressed with the reviews, You receive a lot for your money, and comparing it with the BMW, Audi and Lexus which cost a lot more, it was worth getting the CX7. Why pay more for just a name.

I kwow I have only own the car for 5 days but I believe it is one of the better cross-overs on the road. I test drove the CRV, Tiguon, Rav4, Rouge, Murano, Sportage, EX, Edge, Equinox, Forrester. and the only one that was better was the Infiniti EX, but it was $20,000 more. IT really is a nice car, I recommend at least taking it for a test ride. Its nice inside and out, drives like a car and has room like a suv. The improvements mazda made to the 2010 model also makes it very practical and affordable. All the cars that I mention were more expensive with comparable features and options.I purchased the I Sport with the convenience package. Definitely worth every penny I paid fot the car.

Researched and looked at all the rest including Honda, Nissan and Ford. Hands down this is the most bang for the buck. Very impressed. Great looks and very smooth and responsive.
