The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows.
- Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
- Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row.

New Owner - 2006 Kia Sedona
By skchut - April 18 - 4:26 pmWe just purchased our Sedona EX in July of this year. We made a switch from an 02 Windstar SE and already we love the Sedona. The Sedona has more leg room in the 2nd row. More power than the Windstar. The dealer was a pleasure to work with. We cant wait to go on a long road trip yet. We didnt get the DVD system. For the price they want to install one, we can purchase one installed at Best Buy with wireless headphones for half the price. That way I wont be singing SpongeBob Square Pants in my sleep.

Problems getting more frequent. - 2006 Kia Sedona
By Van driver - March 19 - 12:00 amIve driven this van for our work the last four years. Good stuff first, this van rides really nice, and is really quiet on the freeway. The engine is nice, refined. MPGs are pretty decent for such a huge vehicle- we get 22-23, pretty decent. Design wise, it works fine. I do wish the seat scoots back a little further, Im only 510". At about 12K miles, the front rotors warped. The rear hatch started leaking, we couldnt figure out why the car stunk so bad. We needed a new battery at about 19K miles. Now, at 40K, the rear hatch is leaking again, the a/c needs recharge, the suspension groans. The transmission kind of slips and cant hold gears sometimes, and the starter needed replacement.

By scottyace - January 24 - 3:10 pmI have owned a Honda Odyssey and a Town & Country, and this is a much better value, and is as good as the Honda and a whole lot better than the Chrysler for overall performance and comfort. The ride is terrific, and the new body gives more room than in the past. We traded our overpriced (way, way overpriced) Town and Country for this, and we are thrilled. It compares very favorably to the Odyssey (we owned one of those before the T & C), but with more options...fully loaded for around $30,000. Drive the Toyota, the Honda, even the Chrysler, but stop at Kia last...compare apples to apples, and you wont be sorry.

After being stranded three times and towed to the dealer who couldnt find the issue while it was under warrenty, I finally took it to a local repair shop who found the 1K plus issue that I had to pay out of pocket. Called Kia and was basically told oh well. Van felt cheap and made me question its safety on a daily basis. It was a true lemon and after spending about 3K in less than a year, I was done. Bought myself a Dodge and Im in love!

Love this car - 2006 Kia Sedona
By Sandy - July 4 - 6:50 amI love my new Kia. I traded in a Toyota Sienna because I was unhappy with it. Was looking forward to the Kia and I am so pleased. Nice smooth ride, nice looking car, easy to work all the features and plenty of room for a family of 5 and all our "stuff". We spend most of our time in our car and the Kia makes it fun!

Family Van Disapointment - 2006 Kia Sedona
By Kevin - June 25 - 12:20 amWe have 44,000 miles on our van. Since we have owned the van it has been in the shop for warranty work many times. The intake system went bad requiring a tow truck. The air/conditioning compressor has been repaired twice. Power steering has been repaired twice. Three different suspension repairs have been made. The fuel pump has been repaired, wiring harness replaced, brake light switch replaced, engine block oil leak, bad airbag control module, bad seals on windows, doors sticking, doors not latching, etc. Difficulty getting proper alignment. Left us stranded twice. Kia had paid for it all. Dealership has been very helpful. Wondering what will happen when warranty expires.

By Kevin - June 8 - 7:40 amI enjoy driving the Sedona. The sound and power of the engine is pleasing. The size is just right for my family. I saved money on a new sofa by avoiding the delivery charge and picking it up at the warehouse myself. It fit perfectly in the Kia. We get 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Good amount of standard features for a base model. Paint looks good and is holding up well. Steering wheel was crooked from factory, interior grab handle came loose, fuel line adjusted, a/c compressor noise fixed, rubber windshield seal came lose, driver side window seal folded under. All problems fixed for free by dealer. I did expect fewer problems from a new vehicle. We have 22,000 miles on our van.

Nothing but trouble - 2006 Kia Sedona
By DC - March 29 - 2:46 amWe bought our Sedona in November 2006. Since then its been in the shop 5 times. Not acceptable in a car purchased "new." First was a knocking sound when the engine was shut off, I was told it was a flap in the engine that didnt close properly? Next was a slider that stuck habitually. Then a fuse in the dash went out and my ABS malfunctioned. The brake light still doesnt shut off properly, I have to kick it, and its been in for repairs on that twice. Because its a large car assembled with the brakes of a smaller car, it wears through brakes super fast. My two year old car is on its third set of brakes. No wonder it has that warrantee, you need it. Im now looking elsewhere.
