Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Liberty gets stability control as standard equipment on all models for 2006. The four-cylinder gas engine has been dropped, however, due to a lack of consumer interest.
- Extremely capable off-road, economical diesel engine option, creative interior design.
- V6 is rather thirsty at the pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

too many problems/bad gas mileage - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Katymaeflower - July 25 - 9:56 pmI bought this Jeep used. Ive had it for 2 yrs. Its fun to drive but gets terrible gas mileage...15 city/20 hwy if youre lucky! Ive had to replace 2 window regulators so far. It is in the shop now for an electrical problem where it keeps blowing fuses. The bill so far is $800 plus a towing charge! Before the windows and electrical issues, my only complaint was the bad gas mileage. I agree with the one person who said we should start a class action suit against Chrysler but would it do any good since they are going out of business? I owned a 1996 Grand Cherokee before this and loved it...no problems. I sure miss it!

2006 Jeep Liberty : TOTAL LEMON - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Straycatstride - June 23 - 10:00 amI purchased the car new 4 years ago, theres less than 60k miles. I have replaced 4 window regulators and motors, and now 3 more broke. Thats an average of 1 every 6 months. The electrical system constantly shorts out and of course nothing is under warranty. The dealership wont stand behind their product, nor will the manufacturer. I will never buy another vehicle made by this manufacturer!

trade me cars - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By kd - June 10 - 12:56 pmI bought my Jeep liberty brand new in August 2006. While it was under warranty, I had the lower ball joints replaced, the manual shifter replaced a few other dumb things. When the warranty ended, I had to replace a 200.00 dollar idle air control valve, the rear window regulator needs replaced and the a/c is broken. The seats stain badly even with rain water and snow flakes. If I had known this particular car was a lemon, I would not have bought it.

Very Disappointed! - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Dont Buy it! - June 1 - 11:06 pmI have owned this jeep liberty for two years. I have always wanted a jeep until now! My windows keep dropping from poorly designed window regulators, the a/c sucks, has a lot of road noise, and the interior is a stain magnet! I am very particular about the inside of my car and rain drops from just getting in the car stain the seats! I dont know what kind of fabric this is but its awful! All of these problems are also very expensive to fix! The outside looks nice but the gray cloth seats are another story!

Jeep 06 Liberty - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Evelyn - May 12 - 5:13 pmMy 2nd Jeep liberty, this one has problems onset, drive belt snapped within 6 months. Rainwater gets in the passenger side window even with Windows shut. Dealer will not fix window. Just reached 30k miles called dealer for the 30k service, they say its $575+ taxes. My local mechanic charged me half of that. If you can oversee the above problems and the 17 mpg fuel. Otherwise its a fun little suv to drive, but my next car will not be a Jeep liberty, unless Chrysler will make it more fuel efficient.

Jeepers Creepers!! Windows stink!! - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Jeepers Creepers !!! - April 24 - 12:53 pmThe window regulators on the Liberty must have come from a Cracker Jack box! There is NO reason we (as owners) should be replacing these regulators every 6-8 months! Jeep KNOWS there is a problem with the quality of the materials used in the regulators & they need to step up to the plate & make a QUALITY regulator! I think this is a pretty sad ploy to have your vehicle back in to replace these EXPENSIVE regulators so often!

Well Built? - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Disappointed - March 12 - 1:10 amSince buying the Jeep Liberty, Ive enjoyed certain qualities of the vehicle and have cringed at others. The engine is unrefined and sluggish when accelerating. Sometimes when accelerating, if I hit a bump in the road...the car feels like it hits a dead zone and misses. Very bizarre? As an off-road vehicle its great but the poor interior design, annoying squeaks from the dash and caveman engine, its really not an overall good experience. I purchase the vehicle for the wrong reasons which at the time was off-road capability and looks. Both of those qualities hold up over the time Ive owned the Jeep (3 years), but the poor fit & finish, squeaks and overall cheap build is disappointing.

Liberty has room for improvements - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By r.manwarren - February 7 - 9:36 amIm an aircraft mechanic, I bought a Liberty for my wife to drive, and then everything went wrong one by one. Now Im stuck driving it. The window problem is an engineering problem. Who in their right mind designed a metal spindal rod to work with a plastic cradle. Hello the metal is obviously going to wear out the plastic and then youre stuck in another worthless Liberty with your window falling down at every bump, until the local dealership can get to it 30 days later! As far as the brakes and rotors OEM is junk. go aftermarket and do the work yourself if you are knowledgeable!

Poor Window Design - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Brandon - November 25 - 5:53 pmI have a 2006 Jeep Liberty with 47000 miles on it. Same problems as other owners with the windows. Rear drivers side window fell into the door. Dealer said that it would cost 1000 to fix. I called Chrysler and complained. They told me that I would pay only 100 to fix it. Well, dealer now says 200. This is a leased vehicle, needless to say, I will be returning it and will not buy another Chrysler. This company needs to stand behind their products!

Dont Buy Jeep - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By George Metaxas - November 23 - 6:56 amI bought this vehicle new in Nov 2006. It has been in and out of the shop so many times I have lost count. All repairs have been covered under warranty, but when the warranty expires Ill be on my own. One major problem with this vehicle is the power windows in all four doors. I have taken the Liberty to the shop three times to get the "regulators" changed. This is very frustrating. Im told by dealer service manager that the manufacturer is doing nothing to correct the problem. Im using the Lemon Law to resolve this issue. I would think twice about buying this product.
