This Year's Model Updates:

The Jeep Liberty gets stability control as standard equipment on all models for 2006. The four-cylinder gas engine has been dropped, however, due to a lack of consumer interest.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, economical diesel engine option, creative interior design.
Cons:
  • V6 is rather thirsty at the pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

  • Excellent Jeep - 2006 Jeep Liberty

Mileage is better than I thought. Needs more cup holders in the front area. Cant find front hitch receiver for after market add on for the CRD. This upsets me. But the Jeep Liberty can park on a dime. Has lots of power and it will get good mileage if you drive decent.

  • Fun to drive but... - 2006 Jeep Liberty

I bought a Jeep Liberty 2006 brand new, I love it but the window regulators went bad like 2 times in the back windows, the door handle inside got broke, went to the dealer they told me it cost about $500.00 for a new door panel, and the seats? omg i hate them even water will create a spot on them. other than that everything is fine.

  • STILL GREAT - 2006 Jeep Liberty

I have had this car for a little while now, and I have to say I still am in love with it!.... The design, how high up I am is amazing. This is my first SUV and I couldnt be happier with my choice. The 4x4 is great, I love selec tracs, hate when they are all time 4x4. The stearing handles on a dime and so far my windows have not given me and issue but I did get extended warrenty just incase. For how little it looks from the outside the interior gives the driver and all the passengers plenty of leg room. All around I do love this car, the only thing I wish it had was a sunroof.

  • Mines a GAS HOG! - 2006 Jeep Liberty

I absolutely love my Liberty -- I have had the best winter driving (in New England) of my LIFE this year! The Jeep is powerful and confident on snowy and slippery roads -- I rarely needed 4WD. However, I am only a townie driver, and I am averaging only 11-12 MPG. I am not kidding -- I tracked it. I am going to contact dealership to see if something is wrong.

After owning a minivan this is much better. I love it. My mom had a Ford Escape and the Jeep just blows it away. It handles on the dime. I cant wait to see it in the SNOW.

  • Jeep 4x4 sport 6spd - 2006 Jeep Liberty

I needed a small SUV that was good on gas, has a real tow rating (I have a couple of quads, thats how much I like getting off road) and could get dirty. Isn’t that what SUV’s are for? I’m not sure how they call the Honda CR-V a SUV? I narrowed it down to the Jeep Liberty and the Nissan Xterra. Jeep gave me the best deal! Nissan really likes their Xterra. I bought this Jeep Liberty in the middle of a snow storm (Denver Colorado) and it been snowing ever since. This Jeep will go anywhere you point it. Best snow vehicle I ever had! And I have had a lot of vehicles. My first Jeep and I love it. Can’t wait to take it off road in Moab this spring!

  • Please stay away from this vehicle - 2006 Jeep Liberty

I felt obligated to write a review when I saw the average rating for this vehicle was 8.2. At best this is a below average vehicle. At worst this ranks as one of the worst vehicles of all time. I feel I can provide an honest assessment since this is a company car and I am not tied to it financially. This was obviously an ill conceived car. I am 5’11”. On long trips my right leg cramps because the transmission housing protrudes too far laterally into the foot space. I get 20 mpg, which is bad for a small slow vehicle. The seats stain with water, seriously. There have been several recalls. Also, an odd "clicking" noise emanates from the from airbag area (dealer says this is normal).

  • Love my Liberty - 2006 Jeep Liberty

There is a kinship with Jeep owners... kinda like Harley riders wave and greet each other, so do Jeep owners. We are an awesome breed of drivers. There is a certain pride that one has when they pull up to a ball field, full of moms in their vans...and this mom steps out of her Jeep... love it. A friend of mine liked to razz me by saying "Id rather push a Land Rover than drive a Jeep", well we went out shopping in her LR and it broke down and we ended up pushing it... loved it! Needless to say, she now drives a Jeep. Nothing like driving an American made, dependable, cute, tough, child friendly, animal friendly, classy, Jeep. God willing Ill always be a Jeep owner! I love my Jeep!

  • Paint Job - 2006 Jeep Liberty
    By -

I am truly disappointed in the paint job, I purchased the 65th anniversary model with the dark military green paint job. All you have to do is breath heavy on the paint, and its permanently marked. Even minor scratches are scarred right down to the metal, its like theres a very thin dusting of paint on the shell of the vehicle.

  • Thirsty jeep - 2006 Jeep Liberty
    By -

I am 5 tall with a boyfriend of 66", we both fit quite well and comfortably to drive the jeep. I have had 2 recalls since I purchased ( no big deal). It drives great, looks good, the interior is designed very well. The 1/3 and 2/3 split back seats fold down easily. Leather seats with heater great. However, my mileage is 13 - 15.7 (15 on highway) per gal. I drive mostly highway and conservatively, no sudden stops or starts. I can see the gas gauge go down as I drive. The overhead says avg mileage stays at 14 - 14.8 MPG, manual calculations show it correct
