Overview & Reviews
Although the exterior styling may look familiar, Jaguar's historic sales leader, the XJ, has been completely redesigned for 2004.
- Supple ride quality, powerful V8 engines, roomier interior.
- Fussy interior controls, clumsy transmission shifter, CD changer is still in the trunk.

better than beamer - 2004 Jaguar XJ-Series
By rufo - January 7 - 2:00 amPrevious car was 740IL, and I was looking for something exciting (since BMW has ruined the 7 series from design and techno standpoints). My new Vanden Plas is all I could have wanted and more. Nimble, elegant, pretty and fast. Comfortable cabin, wizardry is functional for the most part, and truly fun to drive. Road feel a little squishier than 740, but still great!

aluminum road going spitfire - 2004 Jaguar XJ-Series
By georgek - November 15 - 10:00 amThe "I Love to Walk Up to It, Get In, Drive it Everywhere All the Time And No Longer Rent To Cut Mileage On Frequent Cross-State Trips" factor is overwhelming! It is the Worlds Best Car, for me. It has dramatically ameliorated if not erased my life long "Bently Thing" (the dash especially is that fine --and fun). I took a leap of faith they have, in this ground-up new vehicle, erased the incontrovertable Jag demons; with 12,800 HARD miles in 7 months and nothing of consequence wrong, I believe they have. Its brilliant, tough, fun, luxurious, complex yet intuitive; and blisteringly fast! An Aston Martin with a baby seat next to the rear door!

Very Satisfied - 2004 Jaguar XJ-Series
By XJ8 - October 25 - 1:00 amI went from a Carrera Cabrio to this large flagship sedan. I have had no issues and have been very impressed with handling and gas mileage. My 04 XJ8 is high mileage at 64k miles. It is like new, makes an entrance, not just another ordinary Lexus pulling into the office or valet. You do feel like royalty when driving. Style, quality, reliablity, handling, and gas mileage makes a strong package. Would buy again.

By Jim from NC - August 28 - 1:40 pmLuxury, luxury, and more luxury. having owned MBZ S Class, BMW 745i, and other Luxury cars, you cannot beat this car for the money. Very comfortable and luxurious, fast, great handling, and surprising gas mileage along with stand alone looks, make this car the leader in flagship sedans in my opinon. select Edition used is best program in the industry and Jaguar tied Lexus in recent reliability polls.

I love my JAGUAR - 2004 Jaguar XJ-Series
By sexyeileen - July 27 - 10:00 amThis is a beautiful vehicle, fun to drive, classy and just awesome. It is a car that needs to be kept in top shape as for getting service on it every 5000 miles. Getting the oil changed every 3000 miles, etc. If you take good care of it, it will take good care of you. Remember its not the "old" pre 90s Jag. These our a "Ford" product and WELL made.

Amazing! - 2004 Jaguar XJ-Series
By Peter - June 2 - 3:40 amThis car has amazing fuel economy for a 300HP V8, is deceptively light on its feet, and is light years ahead of its predecessor - all while retaining a characteristically Jaguar design. The downsides - the seat cushions are uncomfortable for my slender 62 frame, the automatic climate control seems to take too long to kick into gear, and the paint quality is sub par (worth noting is that mine is a black car that spent its first four years in Columbus). I bought a warranty with mine but question whether I really need it.

The Lightweight Cat is Great - 2004 Jaguar XJ-Series
By Virage - June 2 - 2:00 amThis is the eighth Jag for me in the past 10 years (have had V12, Convertibles, XJR and XKR) and this is by far the best yet. Superb interior, fit and finish are exceptionally good and the ride is tops.

Another Jaguar - 2004 Jaguar XJ-Series
By JonMI - January 25 - 2:00 amI replaced my 2001 S-Type 4.0 with the XJ8. When I drove it I couldnt believe the differences from the past XJs or even the S-Type. It is fast, smooth and handles incredibly well. In fact, believe it or not, you might even say it is too powerful. If its even a remote thought of a car choice, go drive it and see what you think. The only negatives rest with the brakes being too sensitive and a couple of rattles. It certainly doesnt have the style differentiation of the S-Type, but its a car I will be pleased to drive for three years.
