This Year's Model Updates:

Changes to the 2006 Honda Pilot SUV include standard side curtain airbags for all three rows and freshened headlight, taillight and wheel designs. A maintenance minder system has also been added to all Pilots. The optional navigation system now has a 7-inch screen and a reverse-parking assist camera. The EX trim level now has standard foglights this year, and EXs with leather seating get standard XM Satellite Radio. Also new this year is a front-wheel-drive Pilot with Honda's fuel-saving Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) feature for its V6 engine. Finally, stated power output for the Pilot's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.

  • Solid Car - 2006 Honda Pilot

I bought this car b/c are family was expanding to 3 kids. It is held up remarkably well and is a very solid car. It seats 5 kids easily. The ride in the front seats is good. The ride in the 2nd and 3rd rows is stiff (the bench seats are very stiff). I have had no problems with the car and I am up to 100k miles. For the money, it was an excellent buy. My one pain point with the car is the gas mileage...it is avg about 19 mpg which translates into a big fuel big for someone with a decent commute length.

I took one look at the workmanship in a 2006 Toyota Highlander and it didnt compare to the excellent workmanship in the Pilot.

  • Pile in the Pilot! - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

We love our Pilot! We have an 11 year old son who plays every sport known to man and a 3 year old daughter who still requires a car seat and a weekly McDonalds trip. Our family can easily pile in our Pilot for a trip to the city or just to the baseball field in our home town. We can even take our two labs if we want! I traded my Honda Odyssey for it and I no longer feel like the un-hip mom in the van. Its fun to drive the Pilot! It looks hip/cool and my kids love it too!

  • Safety ratings won me over - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

I bought my Pilot just 5 months ago with 42,000 miles on it. It lacked some of the exterior style elements of the competition, but the interior features seem to fit our lifestyle better. The determining factor was the safety rating. This vehicle won out, hands down! Lucky for me, because last week I totaled my poor Pilot. This vehicle did exactly what it was supposed to do. Protect the occupants. My cars front end was totally smashed, the hood was folded nearly as high as the roof and I was protected in the cab. Other than bruises from the restraints and air bag deployment I am fine and totally amazed. So now the painful part, finding another one.

  • This is my 6th HONDA! Love Them!! - 2006 Honda Pilot

Love Honda and love this SUV. I was sad when I traded my Accord, but so happy that I did. I do a lot of long distance travel and the ride is as smooth as the Accord and the extra space for transporting items is great.

  • Our first SUV - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

Pilot 2006 is our first SUV. We bought it brand new and put 40K on it and it is as reliable and dependable as it was on day 1. I love the way they equipped it with very cheap maintenance. We get family over a lot and Pilot hauls up to seven adults with no compromise on performance. Leather quality and color, touch screen navigation, very comfortable seats, roomy and classy.

  • Honda Pilot 04 - 2006 Honda Pilot

This vehicle rides as smoothly and quietly as any car and is a pleasure to drive. It is easily manuverable, corners well, and is not sluggish in passing situations. Gas mileage is acceptable for this type of vehicle and the interior features are easily utilized and convenient. It is asthetically pleasing and turns heads, which is uncommon for a SUV. It lives up to Hondas high quality standards and is user friendly, both for family and individuals. It is roomy inside and able to haul a lot of cargo, kids, supplies, etc. Seating configuration is good and easily modified and accessed. I really cannot think of anything I dislike about the Pilot.

  • Bought Pilot over Highlander - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

We had leased a Highlander and opted to not purchase at lease end in favor of the Pilot. We could not be happier. Definitely a better ride due to the weight of vehicle. Cant complain about the gas mileage, very good for this mid size SUV. Vehicle now has around 50,000 (21,000 from us). Used the 4wd this winter and it performs extremely well. Engine is very quiet. Make sure the VTM fluid is changed regularly. Overall a very nice vehicle.
