This Year's Model Updates:

Changes to the 2006 Honda Pilot SUV include standard side curtain airbags for all three rows and freshened headlight, taillight and wheel designs. A maintenance minder system has also been added to all Pilots. The optional navigation system now has a 7-inch screen and a reverse-parking assist camera. The EX trim level now has standard foglights this year, and EXs with leather seating get standard XM Satellite Radio. Also new this year is a front-wheel-drive Pilot with Honda's fuel-saving Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) feature for its V6 engine. Finally, stated power output for the Pilot's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.

  • Great SUV - 2006 Honda Pilot

Original owner with 85k miles. Other than routine maintenance, which is inexpensive, we havent had to spend a nickel on this vehicle. Previous SUV was an Explorer so the reliability was a nice change. Comfort is good although a telescoping steering wheel would be nice. Mileage is as advertised.

I have honda pilot 2006 with just 36000 miles and at 4100miles it starts giving me knocking noice from engine and few weeks later it stops on high way their is a big problem in engine and mechanics say they need to change the motor. I bought it because of reliability i didnt find reliability and it is a gas guzzler.

Love the pilot we had a range Rover, ml430 and a BMW x5 before our Honda every service was over 4k the Honda just turned 100k and the service is under 1k wow it runs great and doesnt need lots of maintenance like our high end suvs I am a believer in Honda and love it very practical money saving car

I traded my Silverado z71 for this pilot for better gas mileage. The truck got better gas mileage than this Honda! I have owned many suvs and this is the most uncomfortable one yet! Do not buy this car if you have to drive in snow above two inches. The brakes lock and you MUST turn off the stability control to make it safe. There are a lot of squirrels where I live but this car is the squirreliest thing on the road in more than two inches of snow. Thank God I kept my Suburban so I can drive it in bad weather and feel safe! I wish I had not listened to my wife and bought a Landrover Lr3. Know anyone that wants to trade?

  • Very Happy owner of my pilot - 2006 Honda Pilot

I wrote a review about my Honda Pilot last year of May, and wanted to write another review again because I am still very happy with my vehicle. When I brought it the odo was reading 44,500 miles on it, and now its has 69,500 miles and its been a great vehicle with no problems nothing. Took the trip to Colorado from Texas and I was getting 26 to 29 mpg on the Highway. In town still getting 19 to 22 mpg with a little highway mix in. The best mpg was 32 and its only happened once and the road was flat and getting tail wind coming home from Florida so it was almost 650 miles on a tank. I change the oil every 4 to 5000 miles and change the transmission fluids twice. I am planning to keep it long.

We bought our Pilot brand new and we love it! We are a big trip family and have put about 71k miles on it. We love the comfort of the seats, and being able do car pool. The quality of the interior is great. Honda did a great job building this SUV

  • No Hidden Problems! - 2006 Honda Pilot

This is my first Honda. It has far exceeded my expectations. It has everything I could ask for in an auto. The inside is roomy, yet can handle any cargo. Fuel mileage is great. Ive had this for 3 years now and never had one problem with a thing!

I have never owned an import, but on a whim I took the this used Pilot for a test drive. I have owned several Yukon/Tahoe and Yukon XL/Suburbans. I wanted something smaller with better mpgs but that I could fit 3 kids in and still have room in the back for hockey gear or golf clubs. To my surprise the Pilot drove excellently and with the 3rd seat down had lots of storage space. My kids are young enough so that all 3 can sit in the 2nd row with 1 car seat and one booster. Average 14.5 mpg with 100% city driving(lead foot), and average 20 with 100% highway driving and about 17 with mixed driving. Which could be better but I think is not bad for a AWD vehicle. Rides great and is comfortable.

  • Hondas You gotta love em - 2006 Honda Pilot

We are a Honda family, we went from the Accord to the Cr-V then lastly to the Pilot, the change too a short minute to get used to, the size of the vehicle is a jump up from the CR-V, and the power is a great big leap of fun, the power of the v-6 and the ease of the excelaration to merge onto the highway is for lack of a better word "Cool".. The vehicle feels solid going around turns, has a smaller turning radius that the Accord, which surprised me. I live in NYC and we all know of the snow drifts from the sanitation trucks that gets pushed next to your car, they were no problem at all, to climb over with the power the Pilot. I would recommend it to any one.
