This Year's Model Updates:

Redesigned last year, the Expedition offers few changes for 2004. Option packages and trim levels have been slightly revised, and in some cases, renamed. The XLS replaces last year's XLT Value trim level, while a new NBX trim level replaces the FX4 off-road package. And there is now an XLT Sport trim level. A tire-pressure monitoring system is now standard on XLT, XLT Sport and Eddie Bauer, while the previously standard limited-slip rear axle is now an option.

Pros:
  • Well thought-out interior with plenty of room for passengers and their belongings, handy fold-flat third-row seat, impressive handling for its size, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Needs more power, ride quality suffers on rough roads.

  • 2nd One, and Loving It - 2004 Ford Expedition

This is my 2nd Eddie Bauer 4x4. I havent had a problem with this SUV, and I would recommend it to anyone. It has more torque than GMs, but less horsepower translated, tows more but wont win a light to light. Who wants to race something this big anyway? I have used it to tow 5 or 6 cars to the crusher...I couldnt tell they were even behind me. There is also plenty of ground clearance, incase you want to hop a curb or two. Tire Pressure Monitoring System really, really works too! Headlight illumination well above average...brights light up the horizon and foggers do their job. Powerfold 3rd row a plus, especially on rainy days when you need the extra room. DVD system great for kids!!

I stepped up from a 1988 Bronco and what a differance. It has lots of gizzmos and you will find yourself going back to the owners manual quite often. The 10 MPG Im getting could be improved. The ride and handling are great. Some switches and indicators are blocked by the steering wheel or the shift and signal levers. Front and rear climate control system takes getting used to. Otherwise, a nice truck.

We made the mistake of purchasing a new 07 Wrangler and what a mistake, sold it quick and found this Expedition with 4WD cheap with only 31k miles. Had to replace the Contrac tires because it sat for over a year until gas came down. I purchased it to tow cars that I purchase on craiglist. I have even pulled a 36 foot motorhome (15,000 pounds) to a garage with no problems.I have put about 12k miles on it now and I love it. Passes everything but the gas stations. The new tires make it really comfortable. Did not want 4X4 but they gave this thing away when closing the dealership. I will put over 200,000 miles on this like all my other Fords one with over 435,000 miles. Do your own maintnance.

Love the fold flat third row seat with actual leg room to allow for adult passengers. For all the options/features pricing is much better than on the Tahoe/Yukon for the same things. Have not had a single complaint about the vehicle in 1 1/2 yrs!! Its great.

This truck has been a joy to drive. Feels very safe and easier to park than my 97 explorer. Power fold down seats are awesome!

80,000 miles and have never had any mechanical problem. This is the way to travel for a large family (>4). Kids and wife love it. DVD system and premium stereo are great. Very comfortable seating, even in the third row. Long interstate trips allow a significant increase in gas mileage. No problem towing large (6500+ pounds) of boat. Have never been stuck in snow and often pulled others out of the ditches.

  • Love it & will buy my 3rd one soon - 2004 Ford Expedition

This is my 2nd Expedition and I love these trucks. Im about to buy a 3rd one. This one has been a rock - totally dependable and solid. I feel safe on highway or in town. Had someone turn in front of me recently on a highway and the brakes did exactly what they were supposed to do - again, its solid. Put the Michelin LTX/MS tires on it and the ride is great. Ford has treated me right all along - with the 1st one and the 2nd one. It stinks on gas mileage, but it does everything I need it to do. I love this truck.

I have 3 kids ages 6, 2.5 and 3 months old i am able to put all car seats in the second row with out over lapping placing the kids in the car is easy as well as taking them out the power fold seats are very handy when going on outings i can lower one side and still have room for 2 friends or the other side and have room for one other person i only have a problem putting the strollers in the back of the 3rd row the space is limited but i do have a very big stroller which would give me problems in a minivan as well however with the power seats i am able to place the seats up just a bit and fit every thing in fine. i love this truck.
