This Year's Model Updates:

Redesigned last year, the Expedition offers few changes for 2004. Option packages and trim levels have been slightly revised, and in some cases, renamed. The XLS replaces last year's XLT Value trim level, while a new NBX trim level replaces the FX4 off-road package. And there is now an XLT Sport trim level. A tire-pressure monitoring system is now standard on XLT, XLT Sport and Eddie Bauer, while the previously standard limited-slip rear axle is now an option.

Pros:
  • Well thought-out interior with plenty of room for passengers and their belongings, handy fold-flat third-row seat, impressive handling for its size, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Needs more power, ride quality suffers on rough roads.

  • It works good for me - 2004 Ford Expedition

I purchased this beast around 2008 with 22,000 miles on it for little of nothing, Did not want the four wheel drive but the price was to good to pass up, It is great but it does suck up the gas. I am always towing something and it is good for that and winters all wheel drive is cool. Now it is 2014 with only 70,000 miles on it running strong. If you can handle the gas mileage get on. I see many of them with well over 200,000 miles on them so it will last with regular maintance.

I bought this Expedition after saying I was done with Ford after 2 bad experiences with Ford vehicles in the past. I turned in my lease lemon 05 F150 in 06 and saw this Expedition on the lot and something told me to give Ford 1 more try. Im glad I did. I bought it with 37k and 4 yrs later and with 76,XXX + miles it has been a great vehicle. Only issues Ive had was a rear end whine and a sticky brake caliper. Thats it. Both fixed under warranty years ago. It has been the best bad winter weather vehicle Ive ever driven and thats saying a lot here in Michigan! Its made me a Ford Guy again. I think you should buy one.

  • 225K and going strong! - 2004 Ford Expedition

For anyone thinking about getting a Ford Expedition, dont think any longer! If you have the need for a people mover that is bulletproof, reliable, and of high quality, this is the vehicle for you.... I have had this Ford since new and now have 225K miles on it without any major problems... Just have changed the oil every 5k-10k miles, and kept up with scheduled maintenance...thats it. Have 3 teenagers into sports, hauling family for ski trips, etc - you get the picture...Once the wheels fall off this Ford, I wouldnt hesitate to get another one... hope this helps..

  • Great family hauler - 2004 Ford Expedition

Have 85k on our expedition and it has been a great vehicle. This vehicle does it all. We tow our camper, plow the driveway, and load it up for vacation (storage box on roof, basket on rear hitch). You cant find a crossover that will be this versatile. Gas mileage is not great but try to pack a family in a prius. Had a few minor problems but I usually fix myself. Overall an excellent vehicle and plan on purchasing another one in a few years.

Im a die-hard ford guy and the expedition did not prove me wrong. Have ran it 3 years and 80k. Only has needed brakes and tires. Rear seat material seems to be a little dry rotted but with 2 boys it doesnt really matter. Always runs strong, wife loves it. Bought a new fusion but the wife will never give up her expedition. When we go on vacation, we put a bubble on the roof, rear basket on the hitch and shes good to go. Found a homeowners plow for the front and she even plows the driveway in the winter. Need to tow no problem. Have towed 5500 lbs piece of cake. Now looking at a camper to tow. You cant find a crossover with good mpg that will do as much.

  • Still Glad I own it - 2004 Ford Expedition

I bought this car new in 2004. Has custom steering wheel and faux wood dash from dealer. This SUV is great. Simple comfort and easy to drive. Much better handling once I got rid of the Contitrac tires that came OEM and upgraded to some excellent Goodyear Forteras. Only one maintenance problem with rear compressor which was ~$450 to replace. Only have 47,000 miles on the truck. I think this truck will last a long time.

Im a working musician/bandleader. My band performs at upscale banquets and hi end country clubs,. we often work in tuxedos. I need a vehicle that is both presentable and functional. My Black expedition has served me well and I continue to be very pleased with it. I do however, I only have two comments. I dont need third row seats, I prefer not to pay for Leather seats that are berried under cargo. Give me the option of storage compartments in that area instead. My second comment is to provide some tie downs in the cargo area. Hopefully, Ford realizes that Expedition owners and drivers arent all soccer moms.

Considering the price of these vehicles’ new, I always look for a new used one. Believe me, no one else knows or cares. At over 50K brand new, I get the same luxury for around 30K, or less. I think the Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer, is one of the most awesome SUVs on the market today. They are as reliable and dependable as any Toyota, and like Toyota, they don’t change style much. For an SUV, you just can’t go wrong. I have 160K on mine now, and it purrs like a kitten. But, as an engineer, I can’t stress to you the value of maintenance!! You keep the fluids changed and tune it you will be one happy camper. ALL of

  • My best car ever - 2004 Ford Expedition
    By -

I bought my 04 Expedition Eddie Bauer about two years ago. When I bought it it had 130,000 miles on it. It seemed to be in excellent condition when I bought it, especially for a vehicle with that many miles on it. Since then I have put another 35,000 miles on it, and every one of them has been completely trouble free. This vehicle has performed flawlessly the entire time Ive owned it. Ive never had a vehicle with this many miles on it. Its still my vehicle of choice for long trips! We recently returned from a 1000 mile trip up to the mountains, and as expected, the Expedition gave us no problems at all. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a reliable, roomy car.

My husband bought me my XLT last year with 52K miles from original owner..I love my truck I feel safe in it, love the DVD system, 8 passenger seating, electric 3rd row seats, moonroof, back up sensor.. this truck is loaded. Only complaint is the support in front seat isnt so good and I wish the DVD player wasnt right in the middle of the mirror and of course gas but it is a 4wd v8 so what do you expect. Over all love love my truck!
