Model Overview:

Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.

In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

  • Rental good enough to own - 2015 Ford Edge

Very car like ambience, ride quality and handling. It feels like the center of gravity is much lower than it actually is with flat cornering and a composed ride. Impressive NVH suppression in Titanium edition despite the bigger wheels. Wait for 2016 and Sync3, as the current touch screen is often counterintuitive and as slow as molasses. Good connectivity and power supply options available except USB below center stack is almost impossible to reach. Hands free lift gate leads to cavernous and well finished cargo area. Back seats roomy and with easy ingress/egress. Not sure about structural build quality as you can watch the hood sheet metal vibrating a bit along the power bulges stamped into it, but the cage structure seems quite stiff and protective. Flashy lighting and upscale features. A very good Ford.

  • Great car but for your butt - 2015 Ford Edge

My new Edge has the ecoboost 4cyl with trailer package. My experience is that it does everything well EXCEPT FOR...... (see below). It provides a comfortable confidence inspiring ride. The interior is well done. Road noise, rattles etc. are negligible. Fit and finish is good. It tows very well. Gas milage is very good 14mpg towing 3,000 lbs and 23mpg otherwise. EXCEPT FOR ...... The front seats are not comfortable. They appear to be designed for children and Twiggy. I am an average person, 59" 170 lbs, the seat is too narrow for me. Someone got carried away trying to put a racing type car seat in this model. The seat bolsters on the side of the seat are too pronounced without adequate room in-between. The result is that there is not adequate room for you butt. The side bolsters squeezes your bum together just like a pair of too small shoes squeezes your toes together. My front seat passengers have also complained of this condition. As I like this car, I will take it to an automotive upholstery shop and have the seats redesigned. I wish the dealt steering wheel would be more adjustable - - my wifes Dodge Caravan adjusts wonderfully. Butt I dont think I can swap that out :-)

I have owed 3 Edges so I guess I like them, but Ford never gets these 4 things right. 1. The front door handles are to far to the front and hard to pull close. 2. No protection on the rear bumper top so the paint gets chipped taking things in and out. 3. The area under the console to store things is waste, you can not see what is under there, you have to feel around, dumb. 4. Gear shift is to close to the dash board and in park hard to get to the bottom controls. These things may be small but I find them annoying.

  • Great except for front seats - 2015 Ford Edge

The new Edges is a great vehicle except for the plastic base of the front seats. Bolstering is good, but the plastic base sides prevent flexibility in the seat bottoms and prevent comfort on extended trips. Big miss for a great new design

  • Love the new Edge - 2015 Ford Edge

After having my new 2015 Edge for about 6 weeks I am overall very pleased. The 4cyl turbo charged engine is more powerful than the 6cyl that my 2008 Edge or 2013 Explorer had. It has great acceleration. The braking is much improved and does not have that mushy feel that many Ford vehicles have. The new exterior design is sportier and more sleek than the previous Edge. I love the new two tone leather interior giving it a higher end feel. I miss the power lift gate that my Explorer had and wish it was a standard feature. The interior cabin is much quieter than my last two vehicles. There are also more display features for fuel economy etc.

  • AC STINKS AND FORD KNOWS IT!!!!! NICE BUT PLASTICY INTERIOR - 2009 Ford Edge
    By -

Have had Our 09 EDGE SEL WITH VISTA ROOF for 2+ years and love most of it. This car has been great except for the air conditioning. If the temp outside is over 75 degrees...FORGET ABOUT IT! AC STINKS ARSE. Have had it recharged and tested.Have cleaned filter screen behind glove box.Weak as water!IthinkFORDshould be ashamed of themselves they know this AC system sucks and should be responsible and RECALL all EDGES 2007-2010. Have heard they know it is a manufacture defect that causes some of the refrigerant to bypass the condenser! Everyone I know who has an EDGE says the same thing...The AC STINKS!!!!!!!!!! IF you are looking to buy one test drive it on a very hot day with salesman.

  • Cant See Out - 2014 Ford Edge

Right rear axle seal leaked immediately, three days for dealer repair. 14 degrees this morning, windows fogging and defrost sadly can not clear side view of even the mirrors. Embarrassing to have this when showing off our new car. Fuel consumption worse than my V8 pickup.

  • Nice overall car. - 2013 Ford Edge
    By -

Overall this is a pretty nice car. The ride is fairly smooth, the cabin is quiet and comfortable, the engine has plenty of power even for a crossover that is a bit overweight like this one. The my ford touch is a bit of a pain to use, could have been made much simplier, and the transmission is a little rough shifting at times. The awd is better than not having any, but it will never have the ability of some of its competitors like Subaru, Audi, or even Toyota, just not nearly as capable.

  • 2013 Ford Edge SEL - 2013 Ford Edge

A loaded SEL was the best bang for the buck and allowed for easy customizing. Not a fan of Fords attempt at Chrome and Blacked out elements as upgrades, The SEL had all the safety features I needed.

  • 2010 Edge Sport - 2010 Ford Edge
    By -

I traded in my 08 Acura TL for an Edge Sport with the 22 inch wheels because I needed something bigger as my family is growing. I have had no regrets! I was worried the ride with the 22s would be harsh, but for an SUV with the big rims, it rides really well! MPG are good for the segment of vehicle. I towed a 5x8 trailer from Kansas City to Virginia Beach and doing 65 mph the whole way i got 20 MPG, even having to go through the West Va. mountains. 3/4 full trailer, Wife, 2 dogs and me and just front wheel drive and it did amazing! The Edge looks great, rides great and I feel good letting my wife drive a very safe dependable vehicle. We have put on 30k in the last 1.5 years of ownership.
