Model Overview:

Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.

In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

  • Love it! - 2007 Ford Edge

Bought mine a month ago, and I love this car more and more every day. I have had no problems. It drives well, feels tight, great looking exterior, and tasteful interior with buttons in all the right places. This is my second Ford, but wont be my last.

We looked at a variety of smaller SUVs... downsizing from an 11 year old Tahoe Z71. We waited for the Ford Edge 2016 to gain the Sync 3 and Drivers Assist package. The Sync 3 is very easy to navigate. My son has a 2015 Explorer Sport with the Ford Touch and its not near as user friendly. I must admit it was a bit unnerving the first time I started to change lanes on the freeway WITHOUT turning on my turn signal and then have the steering nudge me back into my own lane. Now I remember to use the signal. LOL. The Edge is an extremely quiet ride and the interior is nicely appointed with soft surfaces everywhere. We got a Pearl White Titanium AWD with all the options with the Ceramic interior. We special ordered the Edge and it was well worth the wait.

  • Terrific Vehicle! - 2007 Ford Edge

What a vehicle! Spacious, comfortable, sharp looking, quiet ride, and from early experience it appears to be built well with solid craftsmanship. The Edge is well designed in the cab allowing easy access to the controls and giving each of the passengers ample room and drink storage. The exterior design is certainly a head turner -- especially when you equip the vehicle with the 18" wheels (which come standard on this trim line). My Edge is black with the camel leather interior -- it looks great. So far, the performance of the engine and transmission has been flawless. The 6 speed automatic shifts smoothly and allows me to cruise at high speeds at only 1500- 1700 rpms.

  • The Best SUV on the Planet - 2007 Ford Edge

Ive been driving a midsize SUV and been waiting for this kind of fuel efficient crossover long time. Test-drove Murano, but heck, its too overpriced. Finally I test drove an Edge and just I was sold to it. The fuel economy is much better than I expected and the vista roof gives me a huge view to the sky, which is terrific. So nice looking outside and very BIG inside. The inside space is one of my favorites. The gauges and controls are convenient and friendly. V6 and auto go very well together. I love to drive my Edge everyday. Its fun to drive. The trunk space is also very generous and 2nd row seat is big enough for my 6 5" son. 18" tire is a good idea, too.

  • Unhappy with interior redesign - 2015 Ford Edge

I drove a 2007 Ford Edge until I purchased my 2015 Ford Edge. Overall both have been great cars as far as fuel efficiency and smooth ride, however, I do have complaints about each. The 07 had very little range of motion for the AC vents, which could not be completely closed off and could not be directed off the passenger seat which meant traveling with my husband I had to keep a heavy blanket in the front seat as he likes the AC cold. The seats were not comfortable, especially the middle back seat; VERY hard. I couldnt wait to get my new Ford Edge and immediately, on the test drive, discovered that the seats were far more comfortable than the 07 and the AC vents had full range and could be closed off completely. Thank you Ford! Unfortunately for everything Ford fixed, I discovered other nuisance problems: 1)the storage in the door, where I keep my water bottle - because of the contoured design of the door handle, I cannot easily remove the water bottle without bumping into the contoured handle, causing the bottle to slip from my hands an spill on the floor, and I am a small person, with small hands; 2)the convenient tray in front of the gear stick in the 07, which was the perfect place for me to place items while driving to work (about 4 x 6 or so)- cell phone, vitamin container, office keys, is no longer there so NO place to set my stuff; 3) the center console and cup holders are now so far back that for a shorter person like me, I cannot grab a cup from the cupholder or open the console with my right hand as it is all set too far back. I have to reach over with my left hand while driving to pick anything up from the cupholders. En the 07 the cupholder was beside the gear stick, not behind it and the armrest was in a comfortable proximity to the seat; 4) the door handle, 07 design was a closed handle so if I wanted to drop a small item - paperclip, Tylenol, whatever, for ease in grabbing quickly - is open now so NO tiny, convenient little door storage. I realize all these may seem petty, but they made enough difference in my daily travel routine that I will NOT be purchasing another Ford Edge not do I plan to keep this one for any length of time!

WE were impressed the car until it had 1900 miles on it. The transmission started acting up then went out. The dealer said they would rebuild it but decided to install a new one in. Hope full after two week in the shop it will be ok. If I have any more trouble I will be going back to a GM I never had any problems with GM car or truck. I was a loyal GM employee for 42 years this was the first ford I ever bought. We liked the style an size of the ford edge that is why we bought it.

  • Great Car for Young Retirees - 2007 Ford Edge

My husband, 62" and I, 56" both love the comfortable ride. We looked at many crossovers and SUVs before going with the Edge. We did add most of the options including the Vista roof, towing package. We love the power adjustable front driver and passenger seats with the Plus package. Our son has a Honda Pilot and we thought that would be our buy, but the Edge is much sportier and has a quieter, smoother ride. The ground clearance is the same. We did our time with kids and vans so dont need or want the 7 passenger seating vs 5. We compared reviews and specs for the Honda Pilot, Honda CRV, Volvo CX 90, Toyota Highlander, Toyota RAV. Just ran 1600 miles to Las Vegas and back. Great!

  • Great Car with Recent and Alarming Issues - 2008 Ford Edge
    By -

I have a 2008 Ford Edge with 55k miles - 3 Times in the Last year when I have been attempting to accelerate- All of my warning lights turn on - My spedometer gets stuck at zero, and I am unable to accelerate above 5 miles per hour for a significant, and dangerous amount of time. Took car into shop and they were unable to find any issues. Looking online it seems many other people have had the same problem and ford is unable, or unwilling to address the issue. Very Dangerous.
