Model Overview:

Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.

In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

Ford did a great job with this vehicle. I am always getting compliments on the sleek look. The ride is comfortable and quiet even on the highway. The panoramic roof is awesome and one button fold down rear seats are a very convenient feature. I love everything about my Edge!

Im at just under 2000 miles and loving every minute. This is a great car. I suggest driving one and not taking some of the so called experts advice.

  • Great Car! - 2007 Ford Edge

I had been looking at CUVs for some time and then I test drove this car. My drive was mostly on the freeway and I was shocked at the outstanding ride. Bought one on the spot! Have since gone on two short trips and could not be happier! Beautiful exterior topped only by the interior. Vista roof is amazing. Love the 18" chrome wheels. Mileage could be better but this car is by far the best in this class. You owe it to yourself to test drive the Edge and make sure you take it on the freeway as it just glides down the road!

The braking distance, which has been much discussed, has not been an issue other than that it is longer than my 05 Acura TL or my wifes previous car, a 00 Focus. Exterior design and interior design are spot on, with a surprising amount of legroom in the second row, even for passengers 63". As the car is now only 3 weeks old, we have had no reliability issues. The new 3.5L V6 is a little noisy on heavy acceleration from a stop, but very quiet at speed. The vehicle feels planted in the cloverleafs, with minimal body lean and no tire squeal. We cross-shopped this vehicle with the BMW X3, Mazda CX-7, Cadillac SRX, Mitsubishi Outlander, and Toyota Highlander.

  • Should be Recalled - 2011 Ford Edge

My 2011 Ford Edge is serviced regularly, just before the 5 yr mark it broke down while driving. Found out that there was water in the engine oil and I need a whole new motor at a cost of $7K for a car that was under 5 years old. Because i drive my daughtet to her club soccer tournaments on weekends the mileage was over the warranty and thus Ford would not warrant the motor. A car this new should not require a new motor! Something is definitely wrong with Ford and now the back up camera is flipped upside when reversing.

I think Ford has done a good job on this car. It is fun to drive, handles very well, Comfort level is good. A very good road car. I havent had any problems with my brakes, but I dont tailgate either.

I had a Mercedes previous to this car. I thought I was taking a step down in luxury, but it doesnt seem to be that way.

  • Best 5-Passenger SUV Ever - 2016 Ford Edge

Edmunds drop-down menu does not allow me to select the exact vehicle I bought, which is a Ford Edge SUV, Titanium, AWD, naturally aspirated V6. - I opted for the 201a package as I did not want the lane assist (i.e., a friendly nudge when one changes lanes without using the turn signal; who needs that?). This is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned. The engineers at Ford really thought of everything. Every detail is just perfect. Air conditioned front seats (three levels of a/c). Front and rear heated seats. Synch-3 interface could not be easier to use and the graphics are easy to see and beautiful. The Sony stereo will rattle the neighborhood (but I dont do that, Im a normal person). The acceleration is fantastic. Placing you foot under the bumper lifts the automatic lift-gate, which is also height-adjustable. There are three memory settings for different drivers to select from for the power-drivers seat (with a button to choose 1,2, or 3). Also a power passenger seat. Ceramic perforated leather is extra comfy and breaths easy. Adjustable lumbar support and adjustable head rest. Ergonomic layout of the dash and interior is superior to any other vehicle Ive ever been in. Height of vehicle makes it easy to navigate through traffic. You will notice the quality of the vehicle build is superior from the first time you drive the car. The 19-inch tires contribute to some slightly noticeable cabin noise, but it is not enough to complain about. The Vista-roof is awesome and easy to adjust to the position you desire. You can adjust the color of the LED displays via the Synch-3 interface (the door sill has an LED "Edge" display which can be adjusted to the color you want, etc.). Plenty of room in the cargo area and rear seats. I got rid of the factory carpet floor mats and bought some WeatherTech all-weather mats (which fit perfectly). The car came from the factory with a nice rubber floor mat for the cargo area. The car is beautiful and the ride is superior. One review I read dinged the Ford Edge and recommended some Korean-made Kia... bwaaahahaha. [non-permissible content removed]. Id rather have my Ford Edge (and save $20,000+) than any luxury SUV. I did lots of research and compared the Edge to similar vehicles from Toyota, Honda, GMC / Chevy, Subaru and Jeep and selected the Edge and am extremely confident that I made the right choice. The engineers at Ford really did their homework. Great job.

I have owned at least 10 Fords, but this is the best.. Absolutely love the Edge. Comfortable, convenient, sporty, fun. Cant say enough. Beats the Expedition and Escape by a mile....pun intended!

I shopped for a few SUVs, tested Escape and Honda CRV and both were too small for me. Then I tested the Ford Edge Titanium with all the options and it felt the perfect size for me. I even started out wanting the V-6 engine and tested both the V-6 and 4 cylinder EcoBoost and decided on the EcoBoost because the power was there and the MPG was higher than the V-6. The EcoBoost engine is so quite and has great power so I decided to go with that plus its the standard engine and the V-6 is a option over $600.00. I bought the Titanium Model with the Tech Package and 20 inch Wheel upgrade package and it has the new Sync 3 which is great. I think if you are looking at a Mid Size SUV you need to look and drive a Ford Edge.
