Overview & Reviews
Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.
In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

2007 Ford Edge SE 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl) - 2007 Ford Edge
By Amanda - February 4 - 2:59 pmI have also had the Power Take-off Unit (PTU) replaced in my vehicle along with metal that was in my transmission, oil leak. Just recently i was on a steep hill and my car drifted ever so slightly backward and the transmission made a horrible sound and the whole car shut off and all my lights came on. I do love the car and its great in the snow but transmission and mechanically its bad. I never had an issue with other Fords. Just disappointed because it is a beautiful car.

I Love My Edge! - 2008 Ford Edge
By lbwow - February 3 - 1:27 pmIve had my Edge for about a month now, but have been eyeing them ever since they first came out in 2007. It was between this or the Honda CRV and once I drove the Edge the contest was over. I love how much space I have in the Edge. The center console is big enough for me to put my purse in when I dont want to drag it into a store. There are cup holders everywhere. Love the way it looks sporty compared to some other CUV/SUVs. I feel very safe in this car. Its definitely bigger than my Civic but not too big to feel like Im driving a tank. Overall, I love this car.

Love it - 2007 Ford Edge
By Tim - January 31 - 2:30 amI was very skeptical about buying the edge with all the reviews so I checked for myself. The ride is great, the braking is better than my Explorer :). Weve had it for about a month now and couldnt be happier. Everywhere I go people ask we "what is that?" All of my friends want to ride in it.

Great SUV - 2009 Ford Edge
By Quaid007 - January 25 - 6:58 pmI bought the Ford Edge based on looks, the Sync system, and Fords recently emerging reputation for quality. So far I am very satisfied with the entire car as a whole. The drive is smooth and quiet with good acceleration when needed. The body styling is attractive in a timeless way. It looks masculine and beefy, unlike the CRV or the Vue, and it doesnt have any over-exaggerated curves that might make it dated in a few years, like the Murano. The interior is roomy, comfortable, and stylish (despite what some professional reviews say). The best part is the Sync system and touch- screen display--it makes the car fun to drive. Ford included all the right options for the price.

So Happy! - 2007 Ford Edge
By noodles - January 24 - 9:34 pmThe Edge is so comfortable, great for our family of four. 2 boys, 11 & 14 they need a lot of space to stretch out. My husband is 64 and 300 lbs and hes comfy. We got the black paint w/the black leather interior, sweet. Its gorgeous. Love the navagation system, sr, cd player and tons of pre-sets for everything. Heated seats, dual climate controls. Smooth ride. The car handles pretty well, not as tough as I thought in the snow but I didnt get the AWD. There is a button to press for slippery conds, that does help. Super quiet inside. Great package inside and out. 20,000 miles, cert. pre-owned with 100,000 m warranty. 120 miles on 1/2 a tank, no complaints on gas mileage.

My wife liked the exterior design - 2008 Ford Edge
By Marco Basto - January 12 - 8:05 pmNo problems until now, poor air conditioning, good acceleration, poor dashboard gauges, to evaluate reliability I will wait to put more miles on it but we drive 2000 miles to Texas and no problems

Ford Edge - 5 Year Life Span - 2011 Ford Edge
By Michele Bond - January 9 - 12:15 amI have (had) a 2011 Ford Edge Limited and maintained it according to service manual guidelines. I was out running errands on a Saturday and it quit moving. I had to get it towed to the auto repair shop and learned that it needs a new engine!!! Hello. That is a $7-8K repair for a car that is only 5 years old. Ford customer service was of little or no help other than to say that the car needs to be at a Ford dealership. Not happening...the car wont move and I would need to have it towed again. I suggested a 3-way call between me, Ford customer service, and the car repair shop, which was not possible. Did I like the Ford Edge? Yes...loved it up until 3 days ago when it stopped working and needed a new engine. Definitely not reliable and not recommended. And, Ford is little or no help. I dont think that it is acceptable for a car manufactured in this day and age to only run for 5 years and then require an engine replacement.

Lemon - 2007 Ford Edge
By vmorin - January 5 - 7:11 pmVehicle is a lemon. Avoid purchasing. Returned 5 times for ptu unit leak. Oil leak so bad caused engine fire. Back from garage less than a week and leaking again. Transmission needs replacement, shudders and rolls backwards on hills. Rear hatch panels seperated from vehicle- twice before being replaced. Gas miliage not even close to advertised. Worst vehicle I have ever owned (6 prior)

Ford Edge - An Out of the Park Home Run - 2008 Ford Edge
By Gordon - January 3 - 12:41 amThis is the first SUV I have ever owned and never understood the attraction until now. I have been a continuous Ford owner since I was a teenager and I own a number of Fords including a 1964 T-Bird, 1995 Lincoln Mark 8, 2002 Lincoln LS V8, 2002 T-Bird and now the Edge AWD LTD. This vehicle is comfortable, quiet, solid and well equipped. The exterior and interior styling is beautiful with the leather interior and it rides like my Lincolns.
