Model Overview:

Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.

In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

  • Pleased with the purchase - 2016 Ford Edge

I bought my 2016 Edge SEL last month. I elected to get the 3.5L V6 and really enjoy the acceleration it offers. Im still on my second tank of gas and I am getting 21.7 MPG in a mostly rural setting. I havent had the car out on the highway yet. The ride is good and the drivers seat is quite comfortable. Visibility is good except for the back right side- there is a large blind spot there. The stereo is average; I got sync3 and found it easy to use. Im not crazy about the voice activated commands so I probably wont use them too much. The all season floor mats are a joke. Save your money and buy WeatherTech mats! Option I wish I had-the 2.7L ecoboost! I didnt want to spring the extra cash for the sport version.

  • From Fusion to Edge! - 2007 Ford Edge

I traded in a 2006 Fusion SEL V-6 to get the Edge. The Edge has the engine ride and style that I wanted. There is the room I need with a child and a dog. Great looks, people stop me in parking lots to ask about it and look inside. They say it looks like a Lexus. All in all it is just what we need and want in a CUV. Also its very fun to drive! I knew I would miss the Fusion but the Edge fills the bill and than some!

So far I am very happy with my Ford Edge. Another coworker bought one the week before me and weve both noted that they are very zippy. The Edge has the power to take off right away which is helpful getting into traffic and is very smooth. The steering wheel feels good and everything seems to be in a place that makes sense. The hands-free technology is great with the bluetooth connection to your phone. You can make calls/receive calls and hear texts without being distracted. The lane assist is helpful and there are so many camera and distance auto-detect features that if you get into an accident it will be your fault not the cars. The distance auto-detection is helpful when pulling into tight spaces like a packed 2-car garage. The quality of the interior is excellent. I think the Ford technology package is better than the Acuras where the user interface is blocky. The kids love the feature to swing their leg under the back to get the cargo hatch to open. My only minor materials issue is some of the plastic edging on the rear door feels sharp and could be smoothed a bit. The heated/cooled seats and climate control is great. Both of my large dogs fit into the cargo area so they never have to sit in the back seat. I felt that I got just a good of a vehicle as the Acura MDX without the cost.

  • I like to live on the EDGE - 2007 Ford Edge

I love my EDGE. It is fun sporty and elegant all at the same time. Although the gas mileage is not what they say. After 2 months I only get 14 miles to the gallon city but thats still better than most cars today. I would not trade my EDGE for any other crossover in the world. I test drove all other crossovers made, and this one has just that extra EDGE.

  • Experience with Edge after 2 months - 2007 Ford Edge

My biggest gripe about my Edge is the interior! Bland to say the least! However, I have been very pleasantly surprised at the gas mileage so far. I have been getting over 19.5 MPG. I have owned many Fords in the past, most of them sedans, although I did own a full sized Ford Bronco. The Edge is fun to drive and handles the mountain roads around my neck of the woods very well.

Bought this for spouse and she loves it! This SUV looks and rides great. Very smooth v6 motor and smooth shifting transmission. Heated leather seats are great. The 20 inch chrome wheels make this very look sporty. Had car for a year and the ride is smooth and great for trips!

I travel on business and have driven just about everything domestic and import. But, theres something about this car that you cant quite put your finger on. Their engineers thought- through the details to make it fun, carry a lot of stuff, and get a lot of compliments at the gas station. You cant believe how much fun it is to drive. You honestly have to restrain yourself. It has 13000 miles now and except for the new car smell being gone, it feels/sounds and drives as perfect as the day I bought it - better than the Toyota I traded in. My Toyo was good - but, this is unbelievable. And, my wife is happy. She laughs that this is what is born when a Mustang marrys an Explorer
