Model Overview:

Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.

In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

  • Nice Job Ford! - 2008 Ford Edge

Traded in a 2006 Hyundai Tuscon. This Edge is sweet in the pearl white color. Drives beautiful. The ride and handling is superior to even my 2007 MKZ Lincoln with all wheel drive. Read the brakes arent that good but I find they are fine. Good feel and braking so far. Only have 60 miles on the truck.

  • Like the Edge - 2008 Ford Edge

Really like this Edge. Had a Mazda CX- 7 that was repurchased by Mazda. Looked hard for the replacement vehicle and have been pleased with the Ford. Had Fords years ago and they have definitely improved.

  • 2nd time is better - 2010 Ford Edge
    By -

This is my second Edge due to not seeing a better fit for me from a price/quality/ride/space perspective. My first Edge was quiet, responsive and reliable. The exterior design was fresh and the interior was pretty nice if you overlook a few cost cutting shortcuts on trim. The broad, stable road stance and powerful engine are all still intact. Changes are subtle but important. Biggest of the changes is that the SYNC system is now available. Next the drivers window goes up automatically, better sound insulation in the cabin yields a quieter ride, and a lower handle on the rear lift gate improves leverage. All make this a better vehicle.

  • UGH! Consider something else - 2013 Ford Edge
    By -

It appears that I may have gotten the DUD of the Edges. I purchased mine new in 2013 after having an accident with a teenager who totaled my previous car. I selected the Edge because it was nice to look at, and it was a fantastic buy. I regret that impulsive purchase now. Since I purchased this car it has been in the shop 7 times, 4 of those in the first 6 months with A/C unit now working properly, and the other 3 times Ive had to have my door latch changed and a sensor in my dashboard fixed. My car is low mileage. Right now its sitting at 31, 200. In addition to these issues, Ive had three dead batteries due to corrosion at the battery leads. Its not an easy fix, and theres really no reason to have to replace batteries so many times. I really want to love my car, but I cant overlook these issues :( UPDATED 09/13/17 at 40,600 miles. Still getting those new batteries....But its still handling well as it should for having so few miles on it. The front Ford Emblem is now silver--but looking around at many new fords 2012/13/14 that seems to be an issue. Youd think they would want to have their emblem be identifiable...or not.

  • From to freestyle to FLEX - 2010 Ford Edge
    By -

After having a 2005 ford freestyle limited AWD, and turning the fstyle in for the FLEX I am so far impressed with Fords improvements. The only improvement would be in fuel mileage- I am avging 22.3mpg, as compared to the fstyle at 21.9 which was larger and AWD though the performance of the 3.5L 6-Auto is far superior to the 3.0L and CVT. The comfort is phenomenal, better than Cadillac DTS seats. The style, design, ergonomics, and cargo capacity, along with the vista roof make for a very enjoyable and fun vehicle. Extremely practical, fun, and stylish & brisk performance. Edmunds recommended the rouge or venza, but those shld not be considered for obvious rsns. great CUV from a grt company

  • excellent Crossover - 2010 Ford Edge
    By -

drove a liitle over a month. Its good Vehicle in this category. The engine is queit but the initial speedup from 0 to 30 takes long time after that the engine is powerful. The suspension system is very good for 20" tires. rear and side view is not good. but it has wide angle mirrors on both side mirrors. so actually make it safer to drive when you change lanes. The speak bass is good but overall speaks quality is not good even as my Winstar! The dashboard looks like cheap. The vista roof is awesome! Overall its very good car that can compete with Lexus RX series if you dont mind the brand name.

  • Wishing I bought it now (I lease..) - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

Okay, it might be a bit early to jump to such wild assumptions, but I love this vehicle. Not seeing a lot of them yet out here, so I get the "What kind of car is that" question followed by, "no way that is a Ford". So the ego of course is inflated, but driving this thing is where you will fall in love. On ramps with all four wheels pulling are instant smile makers. Stomp the accelerator at 65 and feel yourself pulled back in the seat when the auto tranny smoothly downshifts to 3rd and 5500 rpms and you rocket past that pain hovering at 65 in the left lane. I thought my 525 would always be my favorite driver, but the Edge has made that a distant memory.

  • So very disappointed - 2009 Ford Edge
    By -

I bought my 2009 Edge in May of 09 and by this month (Oct 09) the car is having transmission issues. It also had to have the front passenger speaker replaced...twice! Needless to say that i am horribly disappointed with Ford and regret getting rid of my reliable GMC Yukon. I thought I was going to save on the mileage, but I would have preferred to keep spending a ton on gas than have to deal with all the issues this 5 month old car has given me. I will never again purchase Ford or any other make/model this company makes and will do everything I can to tell people to avoid Ford vehicles like the plague! I thought Ford had fixed all their issues, but obviously this isnt the case!

  • Worth postponing early retirement! - 2017 Ford Edge
    By -

I have been looking at all the different SUVs on the road for the past year and decided that I really liked the body style of the Edge. Once I actually got inside & took it for a test drive there was no going back. I absolutely love my car. It is above & beyond what I expected.

  • Big Change - 2009 Ford Edge
    By -

This Edge is my first cross over. I replaced a Hemi Durango so I was hoping for better fuel milage. So far this thing rocks. plenty of power with great manners, and lots of room for a 63 guy. Brakes are a little weak for such a light car.
