Model Overview:

Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.

In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

I traded in my 2009 Chevrolet Malibu LT for my new Edge. When I test drove this SUV, I was HOOKED! Awesome performance and very fun to drive. Sporty look inside and out! I feel safe in this vehicle and I LOVE the room!

Was very nervous about going from a Lincoln Navigator that I loved to a smaller Ford Edge Limited but wanted better fuel economy with a new vehicle. Just bought but initial impression is I have more options (than on my 2003 Navigator)and much better fuel economy for half the price of a new Navigator. The only thing I gave up was a little space that I rarely needed. The ride and comfort is far superior to any other vehicle I test drove from Fords competitors (except MKX). If this vehicle continues to perform as well as it does now...Ford should be proud!

  • NEW EDGE EVEN BETTER!!! - 2010 Ford Edge

We bought a 2008 edge 2 years ago. But after seeing all the incentives decided to order a 2010 edge sport. with zero% financing and the new sport blue and two tone interior. So we pulled the trigger and upgraded. Glad we did every thing is improved. Even being a sport with 20" w/t combo it still is quieter and smoother. Mileage has improved. Way to go Ford.

We bought our edge when our grand prix was going downhill and we needed a bigger car due because of having a child. Weve never owned a ford because Ive always been weary on buying them but I was very impressed with it. Test drive was awesome. Car rides really nice and smooth. Plenty of leg room and a lot of space in the back. I enjoy driving this car and I am so glad we found the edge.

  • nice change from .G.M - 2010 Ford Edge

I looked at all the crossovers,I had an Envoy, OK , but not really,I checked on the EXUINOX, the dealers I dealt with didnt seem interested in selling . I tried to look at a Terrain. could not find one (in real time) I have always been a G M person. But the attitude that had left me wondering if the service would be the same way,,, The ford dealer ,welcomed me ,curiously and seemed to be interested in what I was looking for,I drove the EDGE ,,and that was it for me ,,,I had a winner.

  • Outstanding Choice - 2010 Ford Edge

Without a doubt, this is the best vehicle of about 75 that we have owned or leased over the years -- including our other vehicle which is a Honda. The Edge has a great ride, a very smooth and responsive engine, a nice and easy-to-use interior layout and controls, comfortable seats (and that is from someone who has had major back problems for many years), very quiet, and all the luxury items that you would expect from a much more expensive vehicle. It is just the right size for driving around town, parking is a breeze, and it has very adequate luggage space for trips plus excellent space when the rear seat is folded down. From our perspective, we couldnt be happier with this vehicle.

  • Riding the Log Flume - LEAKY NEW 2015 FORD EDGE! - 2015 Ford Edge
    By -

*Updated 4/7/16 - Scroll Down We purchased a new 2015 Ford Edge SEL (3.5 L Cyclone V6 Series 4.0) on 2/2/2016 in Kenosha, WI. We noticed the windows fogging SEVERELY after taking it through a car wash, and then anytime it would rain (to the point the windows would remain fogged even with the defrosters on high). Also noticed water droplets in the tail lights. Took it to the dealership on 3/25/16 and learned it is LEAKING inside the interior of the vehicle! As of yet, our dealership is unable to diagnose the exact source of the leak. We have since learned that there is a LEAK PROBLEM WITH THE 2015 FORD EDGE AND DEALERSHIPS WERE INSTRUCTED NOT TO SELL IT. In researching this vehicle, this issue might escape the attention of consumers because it is not officially labeled a "recall." In hopes of a resolution, we spoke with the Ford Regional Customer Service Manager (866-631-3788) who was adamant that Ford WILL NOT buy back from us this structurally defective vehicle. They insist our VIN# is not included in the leak issue - although the saturated interior of our vehicle seems to suggest otherwise. If we attempt to sell this vehicle in the future, WE will have to disclose to potential buyers the very same defect that Ford concealed from us - and incur a financial loss. After all, who would pay full market price for a vehicle knowing it leaks inside? This situation puts us in a bind in many ways. To date, weve made only 1 car payment to our bank. Will this vehicle even last for 59 more payments? Besides the financial repercussions, theres health and safety concerns. Our son has severe asthma and allergies, including a documented allergy to mold. How long was this leaky vehicle subjected to the elements in a dealership lot before we purchased it? And, whats lurking inside the moist carpeting and overhead material, the cracks and crevices? We expressed these valid concerns to Ford, as well as to the dealership, to no avail. They refuse to buy back their defective new vehicle, insisting their only obligation is to repair it and "dry it out" by running the vehicles heater. We can only conclude that the well-being of children doesnt rank high on Fords list of priorities. In exchange for buying back their defective vehicle, weve even proposed buying another Ford - a 2016 Ford Edge, or even a Ford Explorer (assuming no defects). As long time GM owners and first time Ford owners, we were excited about our new relationship. It appears that Ford does not reciprocate that zeal in their customer service, however. It ceases the moment the customer signs on the dotted line. UPDATE: We stopped by the dealership on 4/2/16 for an update. Last wed heard our vehicle was taken to a glass shop and the windshield resealed, which failed to stop the leaking. Next, it was taken to a body shop where a new windshield was recommended, and then ordered. To our horror, on 4/2/16, we stopped by the dealership and found our new vehicle - leaks and all - sitting uncovered, in the pouring down rain and sleet, in the dealership lot - where it has been for days awaiting arrival of the new windshield. In the very least, they could have covered it with a tarp. To be continued.... UPDATE (4/7/16): Update: A "pin-hole size leak in the body caulk of the upper right passenger window" was discovered and filled. A glass company came again, squirted window cleaner and blew air from inside the vehicle. The leak revealed itself on the outside where the glass cleaner started bubbling. Dealership said water was in the carpet and flooring, and on some wiring, but that the vehicle subsequently passed the leak test and water should no longer enter the interior. Ford also is replacing the right and middle tail lights. Hoping no further water damage surfaces in the future from this leak. Our vehicle should be done Friday, April 8th!

  • Im suprised how much I love my Edge! - 2008 Ford Edge
    By -

Im a faithful Ford buyer. I feel theyre safer & better built than any other American made car. I needed to trade my Taurus. I started transporting my grandfather, and he had a hard time getting down and into my Taurus. (Hes 93 and 6 foot tall) I looked at the Edge because of ease of entry for him, not because I saw myself driving it. It was OK, but just OK. After driving it for 2-3 days, I LOVED THIS CAR! Its fun to drive, looks good on the road - I get compliments, and is comfortable for distance traveling. Would I trade? Only for the Lincoln version. I could see myself buying Edge again.

  • Ford Warranty - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

The Edge is a good overall vehicle. Major complaints - CD changer broke, should never be sold in anything - old Delphi junk. 36,000 mile warranty too short compared to other cars available. Cheap Mazda/Ford rotors rusted after 18 months, but I was over the mileage warranty, so I paid $200 for replacement. Just received Ford recall that the coolant system may cause engine damage. Overall-not a bad vehicle if you buy low end model. Not sure if its worth it for the fit/finish/warranty and lack of quality in the SEL/Limited versions. When this one is paid for, probably wont purchase another Ford until they improve warranty. I sent my concerns to Ford and received no help.

  • Highly recommended - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

This vehicle is one of the nicest Utility vehicles that Ive ever driven. It has a quiet and comfortable interior, and the suite of luxo-goodies doesnt hurt. The engine delivers power smoothly when requested. Handling is good and adds to the fun-factor, but the Edge is no sports car. It is heavy and, although the Edge maintains control, you feel that weight when you push the limits. Overall, a pleasure to drive. I appreciate its just-right size when compared to the larger boats like the GMC Acadia. With 800+ miles on mine, Mileage is OK at 19 MPG.
