Overview & Reviews
Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.
In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

Cubic Zirconia in Diamonds clothing - 2015 Ford Edge
By Dissatisfied customer - December 2 - 8:57 amI just leased my 2015 SEL in October. I love the way it drives and handles on the road. However it has been in the shop twice with electrical issues in a month. The first time was when I tried to turn on the heat and no air came out. It turned out being a faulty pin according to the dealer. The next time was an electrical issue that prevented the car from starting and just about every warning light came on in the process. Im beginning to question the reliability of this model. I traded in my 2013 Focus for the Edge, thinking that I was getting a better made vehicle , as I had electrical problems with the Focus, as well. To add insult to injury, the dealer (Lester Glenn) has a ridiculous loaner car program where there is a two week wait and only about 3 vehicles, according to the service manger. Are you kidding? Perhaps if there is that much volume in the service department, the dealer should invest in more loaner cars. Also, they should give priority to customers who purchase vehicles at the dealer. FORD= Fix Or Repair Daily!

Nice SUV, Bad build Quality - 2015 Ford Edge
By Vince - November 27 - 10:02 pmI bought the 2015 Titanium Edge a couple weeks ago. The car is very nice and rides well, but the fit and finish is very poor. I had to get trim piece on back door replaced due to severe misalignment with rear window trim. The upper section of the driver door is severly misaligned with the rear door while the middle and bottom sections are aligned. There is what looks like a N shaped defect in the leather trim in backside of passenger front seat. The passenger front drink holder has a constant rattle when a drink is in it. There are two spots on outside rear passenger side door that seem to be defects but look like dents. I choose this car over other brands because of its comfort and features, but did not catch these things before buying. I spent nealy $40K and regret purchase due to these issues.

Whaaaat? This is a Ford?? - 2015 Ford Edge
By Genevieve - November 26 - 11:36 amThis is one of the best prices vehicles for all its options. I literally was able to get every option I could think of (outside a heated steering wheel) and most car brands didnt even OFFER all these options or wanted $10k more for all of them. I exceptionally happy with the mpg, handling, and technology. They are truly putting Out their best effort and my consumer confidence is rapidly climbing. Go Ford!

Worst car purchase ever. - 2011 Ford Edge
By Wes Howard - November 19 - 8:26 pmI have had (4) Ford trucks and loved them. No problems. Great trucks. Love the look of the Edge and I bought mine from a dealership, one owner, 62K miles, great CarFax, great shape, no issues best I could tell after inspecting and driving. After 9 months and putting 26K mainly highway miles I have spent $3000 on a leaking PTU - replaced PTU assembly, a shock rear shock gone bad - replaced both, brake issues - fixed, an axle seal gone bad - replaced, a leaking power steering hose - replaced, a transmission that had to be reprogrammed (no charge for this), bad rear wheel hub assembly - replaced.........and at the moment I have a back seat that will not go down which I rarely ever do but the dealership informed me that the release wire/cable had broken and that repair is a bit over $300 and today my sunroof opened and would not close. And the dealership this afternoon looked at it and had no clue what to do other than say bring it back when that have a full day to look at it. At the moment this lemon of a car is in my driveway with the the sunroof wide open and thankfully its a clear night. Funny thing is Ive owner a Toyota 4Runner and I know how dependable those cars are...I was deciding between the Edge and a Toyota Highlander and the Edge was my choice..and the only thing I can remember that sales guy saying who had the Highlander was you better keep in mind, theres a big difference between a Ford car and a Ford truck. Man if only I had listen to him. There you have it. I just got my bank approval back and I cannot trade this piece of junk quick enough.

Powerful Titanium 2L - 2015 Ford Edge
By Gerry Partida - November 14 - 10:58 pmWe bought our Edge 4 weeks ago and we have enjoyed the car immensely. Today I drove our Edge up to Big Bear Mountain which is 30 miles and an elevation climb from 1500 feet to 7200 feet. I was concerned about the power of the turbo 2L engine, but I am happy to report that our Edge powered up the mountain equal our better than my V6 Acura TL. We have been able to get 30+MPG on the freeway and average about 24 MPG combined. Love the remote engine start this evening with the outside temperature at 20°F. Looking forward to our next trip in 2 weeks on Pacific Coast Highway between Carmel and Morro Bay. We will update on the car after that trip.

Really like this vehicle - 2015 Ford Edge
By Richard - November 13 - 3:49 pmWe bought the SE and there are two things that I dont care for. If you leave the fob in the Edge and lock the doors with the lock on the door they will lock, the same as locking the keys in your old car. With the electronics they should be able to prevent this or give a warning when the fob is left in the Edge. My Edge has no keypad entry. They give you a key but that is probably at home. I do not have the auto stop/start feature. Wish that I had gotten the auto start/stop feature.

An Engineers Perspective - 2011 Ford Edge
By R. Eads - November 4 - 6:00 pmI bought this car new. My wife drives it primarily. Its now traveled just over 55,000 miles. We have owned mostly SUVs and trucks recently so this was our last venture into the land of unibody, transverse engine mounted vehicles. Overall, Im very satisfied with the vehicle. Its outstanding features are in the technology it brings to the segment. The adaptive cruise control borders on magical. It is very hard to fool and is very able to sense lane changes and switching of lanes. I find it very impressive and it makes long drives across interstates from state-to-state-to state a breeze during construction season. You set the distance between you and the next car. You set the speed. It keeps the distance and life is great. The Sony sound system is very good and the bluetooth integration is also great. It seems much more adept compared to GM, Toyota, Nissan, and Dodge/Fiat for the same year and then some. My edge is AWD and the torque vectoring is exceptional in keeping the vehicle aligned. With good tires, the vehicle does exceptionally well in snow, better than classic SUVs. Even a Jeep Grand Cherokee seems less capable in a snow/ice scenario than does the AWD Edge. Ford gets high marks here. From a reliability standpoint it has been excellent. There were two warranty items. First was the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM). Ford issued an extended warranty on this module. It started acting flakey, the display would dim on its own. It was replaced at no cost. The second item was the brake booster. Again Ford issued an extended warranty on this item (up to 150,000 miles) it was replaced at no cost. The brake booster fail resulted from a failure in the rubber diaphragm of the brake booster. I suspect that the fuel tank vapor recovering lines that connect to the intake manifold are also tied to the vacuum supply for the brake booster along with the intake manifold. This loosely ties the fuel system to the brake booster system thus allowing fuel condensate to accumulate in the brake booster. Alcohol in the fuel is no friend of synthetic rubber materials in your vehicle and may be the ultimate root cause of this failure. The resulting failure manifestation is a very stiff brake pedal that gets stiffer over time. I would not be surprised if this leads to a recall as it is a potential safety issue. To me, neither of these two problems would be deal breakers if the question was "would I buy another one?" knowing what I know now. I would buy another one. I think it has many strengths for the price point and the things it does well (AWD, room, comfort, sound, technical aids like BLIS and Adaptive Cruise), it does very very well.

Get the Drivers Assistance Package - 2015 Ford Edge
By Johnson - November 4 - 12:14 pmWaited from May order until September build and October delivery in order to obtain Drivers Assistance package on a Titanium Edge with 3.5 V-6. After a five hundred mile freeway trip, I am very glad I did. It is a wonderful workload reducer and safety feature. Really a fine enhancement to a comfortable driving experience. Also like the blind spot alert and the drivers wheel alert shudder when straying out of lane. Got 25.1 mpg on the freeway and looks like it will be about 19-20 overall. The car is a comfortable five star that was over my initial budget, but glad I went for it. We have aged up and now need safety and comfort more than value.

2015 Ford Edge Titanium *Guards Green* - 2015 Ford Edge
By Sage O - October 20 - 8:55 amSo I am a 24 year old and have had my 2015 Ford Edge titanium with the 2.0 eco boost 4cyl in the guards green color for a bit over a month. So far, very satisfied with the car. The color is awesome, almost like a Greyish-green. Great ride height, good visibility of the road. The 4 cyl, in my opinion is enough power for the car. I would imagine the 6 cyl version being terrible on gas mileage. I drive mainly city, stop and go traffic in Brooklyn and I am averaging 16.2mpg for approx 1200 miles I have already put on the car. Interior is extremely comfortable. A lot of technology!!! Bluetooth is very easy to use and responsive. Touch screen display is excellent as well. I have ambient lighting in the vehicle as well which I love. Another feature I find my self using is the foot activated rear lift gate. Very useful believe it or not. Also the auto start fuction from the key fob is excellent. Use it almost every day, I anticipate using it daily once the winter hits the north eastOverall I am very satisfied with the vehicle and deffinetly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury SUV

BMW performance on a budget - 2015 Ford Edge
By JJ - October 15 - 10:54 pmI was originally going to buy a Taurus SHO but decided the Edge Sport would be more practical for my specific needs. I have owned many cars over the years and put a lot of miles on some pretty bad roads in all types of weather, unfortunately I cant comment on the Edges winter performance yet. What I can tell you is that this crossover is absolutely great on the highway and very pleasant to drive in an urban environment. Its quite, and soaks up bumps and irregularities in uneven road surfaces like a big luxury car. What it doesnt do is have a ton of body roll or wobbly feeling like a lot of vehicles in this segment. I suspect this is due to the stiffer springs and bigger anti sway bars on the sport model. Cargo storage and access is very good, the stereo is better than average, the navigation system is pretty straight forward and loads fast, visibility is also good, however I personally find the inability to turn the lane departure system completely off rather annoying as I dont always use turn signals so that little shudder it sends through the steering column when Im passing is a bit distracting. Yes, it has bunch of bells and whistles but the real reason to buy this thing is the engine. The 2.7 v6 twin turbo is absolutely incredible. The power is very linear and triple digits happen in the blink of an eye. The thing is you never realize how fast your accelerating until you look at the speedometer or the line of cars in the rear view mirror and it does it so smoothly and quite. Its not a Corvette or Porsche 911 but I can assure you an X5 or Lexus is going to be embarrassed if they challenge you on the 4 lane. My point is to find the level of technology and performance you find under the hood of this thing you would have to spend a lot more and it will be from Europe.
