Model Overview:

Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.

In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

  • But the A/C system (doesnt) blows - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

Love the Edge, no going back to my unreliable and mostly unresponsive, GM vehicles. The Ford is great, seems very safe and reliable. Our main issues are the A/C (always on max, not enough air flow from vents to keep you cool in Arizona) and gas mileage (17- 19). The vehicle had 21,000 miles on it when we bought it, should be better. Also, there is a peculiar smell occasionally, smells like natural gas and we see some light wisps of smoke out from the hood area. Dealer says nothing wrong with it. For the price, though, its a great vehicle and wed never be able to buy a Murano here for the same price range!

  • My new small SUV - 2008 Ford Edge

At first I was a little worried about down sizing from the Ford Expedition that I have had for 5 years, but I now love it. It would be even better if it got better gas mileage. I love how it handles and looks. I think the engine sounds a little funny but I think it is because it is a 6 cyl. Overall I love it..

  • Ford finally gets it - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

I was shopping for an SUV for 10 months. My choices were down to Lexus RX400, Mazda CX9, Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX. For the price the Ford Edge was the winner by far. It handles very well with quick cornering response. The 263hp V-6 is a hot engine. I hear Ford is already thinking of dumping it. Dont do it! I love the Vista Roof. Its like driving a convertible SUV. I have to agree with a previous review. The navigation system is wonderful but no free updates. That stinks for a $1200 option. All in all I love this vehicle and recommend it to anyone looking for a car.

  • Love it! - 2008 Ford Edge

Bought this car after looking at Honda CRV and Jeep Compass. Too many CRVs on the road! I love this car! I get compliments all the time. Its fun to drive. Mileage could be better but most of mine is city driving. My only complaint would be with getting in the car.I am of short stature- 52 and getting in would be easier if there were a handle to grab on the top.

  • Model T Seat Comfort - 2015 Ford Edge
    By -

2015 Ford Edge is a great looking car; but looks can be deceiving. If you want cloth seats you can not buy the Titanium upgrade (which only has leather; but boasts variable drivers seat controls). So opt for cloth which I did with the base model and the drivers seat has little or no control for comfort adjustments. The seating is rock hard and offers very little to make it accommodating or enjoyable. The tiny screen that displays the rear view camera image is a waste... so small you need glasses to use it with any accuracy. I dont both using that image generated by the otherwise clever rear-view camera. I cant get better than 23.9 mpg after 6,000 miles and I am a conservative driver with no lead foot by any means. I like the size of the Edge when compared to the smaller Escape or larger Explorer. I am leasing and have about 2 plus years to go on this. My thoughts at this point are to look outside the Ford or Lincoln family for next lease to see if I can find an SUV/Crossover with much better front seat comfort.

  • Room for improvement - 2013 Ford Edge
    By -

My biggest piece of advise on this SUV......drive it at night time before you buy it, because night visibility is horrible!! Front seats are not comfortable but back seats are great. Love how the back seats recline. Were a family of three so plenty of room. Love how fast it accelerates in "sport" mode. Ride can be a bit rough, but 22s will do that. Ive had a couple issues with the driver side door not registering its closed. Had to take it in on two separate occasions to have it fixed. Had a sensor go bad & back up camera stopped working so had to be replaced. Overall I like my Edge Sport, but the lights on it are ridiculously bad. Would I buy it again....no. Looking forward to the day I trade it in.

  • Great, but - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

We own or have owned 2 competing vehicles this year. Picked the Edge based on payment & 98% on looks. My 07 Hyundai Santa Fe & 08 Hyundai Veracruz are leagues above the Edge in build quality, refinement & pamper level. Edge is quite quick, handles nice. Lots of looks, comments from other drivers. But if one doesnt care so much about looks, the Santa Fe or Veracruz are simply night & day in quietness, refinement, smoothness & quality. A difference likened between Toyota Rav4 VS BMW X5 V8. The Edge is nice to drive & acceptable. The Hyundais are simply impressive every time you drive them. Id have to say they are 3 - 5 tiers above the Edge.

  • Nice car- sweet design - 2007 Ford Edge

It has a great feel of the road. Very stable, feels very solid. The road noise is at a minumum. It has plenty of room.

  • Love my Edge! - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

I have owned my 2007 Edge for 2 weeks now and I love it! Was hoping for higher MPG (so far 21 combined city/highway). It is fun to drive, comfortable and quiet. This is the 1st Ford I have ever owned and I think I made a good choice.

  • Now I can be objective - 2007 Ford Edge
    By -

My Edge has the vista roof. Unfortunatly, the headliner was not attached properly and it was haning down and it rattled like crazy. It took four trips to the dealer, but they were really good and finally got the parts. Rattle and sagging are completly fixed. Now, I can drive this car without being constantly annoyed. I get great gas mileage (24 mpg hwy) and the car is very easy to drive and fairly responsive for a SUV. I like the reverse stiching in the seats.
