This Year's Model Updates:

Chevrolet offers revised 16- and 17-inch aluminum wheels, and 17-inch all-season tires are now optional on LT models. Other new features include a tire-pressure monitor and Hydroboost brakes that provide more reserve stopping power and decreased pedal effort, according to Chevrolet. A traction assist feature is available on two-wheel-drive Tahoes equipped with a locking rear differential. The trailering package includes a 7-to-4 pin brake wiring adapter. Finally, for added safety, there is now a front-passenger seatbelt reminder.

Pros:
  • Strong engines, roomy and versatile interior, numerous available amenities.
Cons:
  • Spotty build quality, interior materials could use improvement.

  • Very Happy - lots of potential 5.3 l - 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

Purchased used with 50K miles. Typical 15 to 18 on the highway. 12 mpg with 16 ft boat. We installed a Hypertech Econ programmer. Boat went to 15 mpg, highway steady 19 to 20 between 60 and 65 mph. Installed a Flexalite electric fan. In my sons words "the fan is sick!" 23 mpg on the highway! Have not towed the boat. Only vehicle in the family that can carry all of us any distance (all over 6). Power increase is noticeable! This thing is within 1 mpg of our Toyota Camry! Why didnt GM build it this way?

This is my first Chevy vehicle ever! The previous owners bought it new and had all the service records for it.The truck had 52K miles when I purchased it and has 59K now. No major problems yet, my local chevy dealer said though I needed a new a/c belt, and something in my steering column needed to be replaced, cost was about $250 with labor to repair both. My rear brake light went out, now that was expensive... the part itself was $250, and you cant buy it at any part store cause its a LED light. Great smooth ride and great pick-up. Love the space. The truck is not to big nor to small for a single guy with no kids

  • Love my Tahoe - 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

Love this truck, very reliable, only had 2 warranty issues and I have 96k miles on it. Need to stay away from Delco batteries, had to finally get an interstate as Delco kept dying in less than a year. Now teaching daughter to drive it. She loves it also. Still drives like new, even with high miles. Good seating, kids like DVD player, great AC, really keeps inside cool on over 100 degree days.

This is the best big suv. None of the fancyness of the Range Rover or others, but it has that rugged American feel. The ride is good for a vehicle like this.

  • Junk transmission/Fuel pump failures - 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

Actually a 1996 with 196,000 miles - Two transmissions - fuel pump failure in middle of nowhere - replacement sounds on last legs. Did they just invent a fuel pump and auto transmission OR as I suspect the ever increasing desire to reduce costs. Bought a Honda Pilot - GM could learn a lot from Honda

  • my 2004 Z71 - 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

This is my 3rd Chevy Tahoe. Apparently I like them very much! : ) I love the size, comfort and handling..and style is great. Have the top of the line Z71 this time and has it all! Even Dvd player and sun/moonroof! THE only thing mine didnt have was heated seats which I was surprised but its ok. Ill probably always own a Tahoe, havnt seen any others with as much style except for maybe the Escalade but I still prefer the Tahoe body style over all.

  • So far, so good - 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

Had a few GM glitches in the first 30K. Odometer went out, major repair: A/C went out, and typical steering knuckle needed repair. After warranty fixed these items all has been well.

  • Nice and sporty Z71 SUV! - 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

Our driving mainly consist of 70% highway and 30% city driving. Overall, between my wife and I driving this SUV, we are getting an average of 17.8 MPG. This is based on the computer MPG read readout. We love the the Tahoe for its overall performance, roominess, features and comfort. I read some reviews and noticed some bad reviews on the cheap plastic materials used. Okay, maybe but keep in mind this is an SUV.Its meant to be rugged not a luxury SUV like Range Rover or Mercedes. I dont mind the interior materials as-is.
