Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

4 years and going strong - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By John in Colorado - June 23 - 9:57 pmI have now had the Colorado for 4 years and 26,000 miles. I have had no problems with this truck my complaints are more related to design and engineering. This truck has a lot of little flaws that I believe could have been worked out by engineers with a little attention to details. For example: You cant put down the drivers sun visor without moving the rear view mirror. Then you need to adjust it back. Please! Also, when its very cold (Im in Colorado) the windows dont work properly or dont work at all until the interior warms up. Once again, whats all this testing I hear they do to vehicles. Theres much more, but too little space.

Take this truck and ... - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Truckhound - June 23 - 9:20 pmThe truck I have is a company vehicle Ive used since new. It only failed to start once and I only needed to wait 10 minutes to have it start. Reason unknown. This truck has been serviced regularly and performs flawlessly. Canadian winters are no obstacle as long as you have winter tires and keep a couple of sand bags over the rear axle for severe winters. If driven with a light touch the fuel economy is outstanding even with a decent load. The interior is very spartan cheap in fact. It is functional, the climate controls work well but I dearly miss a center armrest of some kind. There isnt much this truck wont do. You can take this truck, put it to task and it wont let you down!

Excellent truck! - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By silver08colorado - June 23 - 3:29 pmThe truck has decent stock power and performance for the 5 cyl. I had to make some slight modifications to increase its overall power and now Im up there right around the stock v8. I got the truck with 22 miles on it, and Ive put on over 24,000 miles since. This truck has a mean look to it. Even though I have the silver birch color, I would have liked the silver to be a more true silver like the Toyota. The gas mileage isnt the greatest, I average about 260-280 miles per full tank before the "low fuel" light comes on. I have the cloth interior which I enjoy. Only issue I had was a loose connection on the 4wd box which was fixed under warranty.

Good Midsized Truck - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By Matt - June 19 - 6:13 pmIts a good midsized truck. Its much better than the s-10 it replaced was underpowered and had too little interior room. The 4 cylinder is adequate and gets good mileage. Interior is comfortable and has enough room. I like the interior space dimensions. The exterior is attractive. The only downsides are the occasionally squeaky brakes and door gaskets which once in a while make noise on bad roads. The Colorado is a good truck. Glad I bought it and would recommend to other potential buyers.

Like this truck - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By A Cossick - June 6 - 12:43 amOnly owned a few weeks so far - I want to address some of the complaints I read here before buying. First, the back of the seat does adjust and there is a lumbar firmness adjustment. My wife is particular about back support and she really likes the comfort. Second, the rear headrests do restrict view a little, but all you need to do is fold down the seat. If someone is in back their head would block the view just as much as the headrest - use the rear view mirrors. We have the Z71 with the 3.7. The ride is not as smooth as a car but it passed the wife test, she really likes the ride. Not a rattle or squeak anywhere either (bought it used with 13k). Overall very pleased so far.

09 Colorado with 5.3 V8 - 2009 Chevrolet Colorado
By jhwhite - June 3 - 1:13 pmI have to disagree with the Edmunds reviewer on my vehicle. With the 5.3 liter V8, this truck is more like a sports car with lots of power. The ride is better than I expected from a truck and the interior, although not fancy, is nice. I passed up on a much more expensive "quality" truck with fewer features and less power due to GM incentives and great pricing. Im very happy with my decision.

Bad Engine - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Eddy - May 25 - 1:50 pmAround 2500 mile i had loss of power. And then around 16,000 mile timing chain and gears were replaced. And then around 18,000 mile the oil pump went out which caused the engine to go out. now it has been in the shop for about 8 weeks and GENERAL MOTORS says its not there problem because it is 2010 now even though problems started under there factory warranty. it has been a nightmare. i have always liked gm up till now, it wont happen again.

First Impressions - 2010 Colorado - 2010 Chevrolet Colorado
By Martin - May 22 - 5:04 amI just purchased a new Colorado after owning an S-10 for the last seven years and 160K miles. I did a great deal of research prior to my purchase, focusing mainly on the Tacoma, Frontier and Colorado. Both the Nissan and Toyota received higher reviews from the auto experts, but the consumer reviews were mostly positive for the Colorado. I have only driven this new vehicle for a couple of weeks and my initial impression is that I like it...very much. I drove all three and the Colorado seemed to have what I was looking for. I loved my S-10 and if I enjoy the Colorado half as much, it will have been a great purchase.

My New Colorado - 2010 Chevrolet Colorado
By Mike - May 11 - 2:05 pmI like the handling. It seems to respond better to the touch. The power is quite good. I like the roomy cab. I dont usually carry 3 in the front but now have enough room to do so. The rider can stretch out and is less cramped than in my old S-10. I seem to ride higher and get a better view of whats going on around me. My wife likes this feature.
