Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

The Little Truck That CANT - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Heather - August 9 - 11:07 amThis thing stinks. The the squeals loud when you make a left turn. (Its been serviced 4 times for this, Problem still Unknown) The lights on the stereo have gone out...twice. The A/C SWITCH has gone out twice, only 4 works. I am so frustrated with it. I have had enough and want my money back. The ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS scare me and I worry that I may be stuck on the side of the road with my baby boy. The inline 5 engine is crappy.

never again! - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By jim baylock - August 8 - 4:01 pmBought my Colorado in jan 2009. Everyone says gm quality is as good as anyones. So figured id give them a chance. Fit and finish very poor. Orange Peel in paint. Motor knocks on startup. Constant brake problems. Lots of rattles. Terrible seats. Traded it in today for a Honda. Glad to see it go. I will never buy a gm car or truck again.

Very disapointed - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By Danny - July 26 - 9:19 pmI have had a lot of trouble with my truck. Engine noise when starting, bad brakes and air noise in the cab.None of these have been repaired nor I dont suppose they will be as the dealers say. The engine noise is metal tolerance. Ive looked all over the window sticker and it doesnt say anything about an engine knock that you have to live with. The last dealer I took it to fixed it for me. It doesnt knock now because the engine is full of oil additive. The rear lug nuts are worn out because the dealer blowing brake dust out to repair a brake petal situation. The doors are adjusted so tight they pop when you open them. Now thats service. Product is probably good. Service lousy.

Awesome truck - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By mattkoerner - July 24 - 10:33 pmIve taken many road trips in my truck. It is a 5 speed manual and has gotten up to 31.25 miles per gallon on the highway. I get 21 miles per gallon in town. The power isnt too bad with the manual transmission either. All in all, I would say its a pretty sweet truck.

Great so far! - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By Porkchop - July 12 - 8:31 pmI have owned this truck (my First) for a few months now and love it. It was used with a little over 9000 miles on it. Very easy to get in and out of. Have the 4 cylinder model which has plenty of power for me and is good on gas. Everyone who has been in this truck comments on how smooth the ride is. There right... takes bumps and bad roads very well! Just one heck of a smooth ride.. i still am amazed to this day how nice it is. The interior is not as nice as it could be but is not that bad either. in all i am pleased with this purchase.

Good Truck - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By Rohn - July 6 - 1:45 pmI have enjoyed this regular cab truck. after reading the edmunds review my resonse is this is a truck not a muscle or luxury car. I average 21 - 23 city. 25 - 27 highway with the I4. it has plenty of power. I had the bed fully loaded taking my sons stuff to Iowa from Michigan. I got 24 on the way there and 27 on the way back (empty). I have had no major issues with the truck. It is comfortable to drive and I am a big person. Plenty of leg room.

Wanted more, it is what it is! - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By The Rig - July 2 - 7:16 pmI will say that the exterior of the vehicle is hands down the best of all the compact trucks on the market. I was also very surprised at how much room this truck has for my boys car seat in this roomy crew. The Tacoma just did not have that kind of room. Though here is where it goes wrong for me. The truck just seems cheaply made. From the cheap looking interior, to the rough fit of the doors. I was spoiled with my 03 Honda Accord and just need to remember I guess, that this vehicle is American made, and it is what it is.

My 04 has been great - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By Bill - June 30 - 5:33 pmI purchased the Colorado to move the kids in and out of college apartments. Also to carry bikes and haul small fishing boat. I have the 2 wheel drive with limited slip rear axle. With snow tires on the rear its great in the snow. I just came back from picking up a 850lb trailer in Colorado. I got 26 mpg going out and 22.7 on the way home with the trailer. I drive the speed limit. This truck has been flawless over the last 5 years. Z85 suspension is bouncy if its empty. But with a small load (120lbs)in the rear it rides smooth. The value of this pickup is its reliability and low cost.

Not As Great - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By Not As Great - June 30 - 11:54 amHello bought mine used in Jan.09 love how is looks but there has been a few problems since then, found out in the inline 5 motor it overheats or runs hot when you are towing, happened a few times to me already. Motor runs loud, tire pressure sensors always need to be reset. Gas mileage is not as good as I was lead to belief for a 5 cyl it should be a lot better. I love the interior room very comfortable on long trips. Bed lights are always going out but I still Love my Colorado. One suggestion invests in a spray on bed liner the stuff that it comes with stinks. Hope this helps

Very Reliable Truck - Trailers Great!! - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By scott - June 22 - 10:05 amI have had pretty good luck with this Chevy. I bought it with 8K miles, and it now has 52K miles. I have driven across country with a boat trailer weighing 2500 lbs, as well as a camper weighing 3000 lbs, and also a camper weighing 4000 lbs. It pulled all of the trailers smoothly with no problem. It has the sport suspension package which helps great for handling. The longest drive with a trailer was about 600 miles, and it was the 4000 lb(24 ft) camper, I had no problem keeping it at 60-65 mph across KS and MO. I had the stabilizer bars on. It handles a trailer great with the added Class III hitch, aftermarket. Best gas mileage I had was 26mpg with full bed going 65mph.
