  • A Pleasure - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

We traded an 03 Passat for the Jetta TDI. No complaints. A pleasure to drive. As it is a small wagon you cant expect a lot of room. The biggest problem that Ive had is the smell of diesel fuel on your hands after a fill up. (really, not much of a problem is it?). The biggest problem we have had was the rock that hit the roof. The good news, it missed the windshield but it did put a dent in the roof.

This is the seventh VW I have owned in my life and it has been the best handling, and most fun to drive of the lot of them. The seat, 6 speed gear box and 18" tires make it a blast to drive in the tight twisty country roads here in Wisconsin. I did get a second set of tires for the long winter months here and it still handles the road fine.

  • Nice Car - Poor Build Quality - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

Buy another car. Within the first 11 days of owning my New Jetta: 1. The driver’s side light cover fell off. 2. The outside temperature sensor failed. 3. The driver’s side door rattles 4. The center console cover rattles. A month later I am happy to report that my car has been back to the dealer twice and nothing is fixed. In fact the service manager called me to let me know that the temperature sensor has arrived; but Volkswagen has instructed the dealer that they can not install this part and that they must return the part and wait for another one. Nobody can tell me when my car will be fixed.

  • Not your VW Golf - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

Have owned both a Golf and a Jetta and would say that for the price, your best bet is to go for a Golf which is much more reliable than a Jetta.

  • Great Gas MPG, Great Car - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

Great car, a bit more refined compared to the last few years. The 1.9l with the 6 speed auto works great together. Averaging over 40mpg so far. I have had it 14 days and and over 2000 miles on it so far. Cant go wrong.

  • Best Car to have and drive - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

Jetta Diesel SW w/auto, gets over 40 mpg in town and upward to 48 mpg on the highway. No problems, only been to the dealer for scheduled maintenance. Totally recommend, good on city and highway driving, could not recommend enough, great car.

  • Decent Value, Not So Decent Quality - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

Purchased my 2005.5 New Jetta 2.5 in June with 27k miles on it, like new condition. More features than everything else I looked at within this price range - loaded with leather heated seats, auto windows, wipers, and headlights, moonroof, etc. 13k miles later... (I drive a lot, especially visiting home every few weekends from college) This car is very fun to drive. It can be a little hesitant when accelerating, but does better on the Sport mode, though that quickly drains fuel. Runs smoother on mid-grade than regular. Mechanically reliable, but has minor other problems... trunk suddenly stopped locking the first time, window buttons peeling, wipers suddenly wipe for no reason, etc.

  • TDI is a great engine - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

Ive now had the Jetta wagon with the diesel engine for about two months. Assuming it lasts (the engine assuredly will, time will tell about the rest of the car)it is a wonderful car. Comfortable, road-friendly, intelligently designed (they even have a sunglasses holder), this is a great car. And, Im getting 40 mpg. It loves to cruise at 80 mph. Great car.

  • Driving the new TDI - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

we bought the new Jetta TDI just last week. It was the second the dealer has received and they sell on the spot. We had to put down a deposit in order to have a chance to buy it. This is not a small car anymore, we bought it as our family car (family of four). We already own the TDI wagon which has been great for the last 3 years but it got a little tight in the rear for the kids. Once we took it on the road we decided to buy it that day. It is the TDI with package 1 which includes the moonroof and the premium sound system. No need to have the package 2 or 3 unless you want wood trimming and leather seating. The leatherette feels like real leather but it is more durable.

  • One of the best cars to own! - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

This car is the second of my 2 volkswagen Jetta TDI wagons. I have had no problems with this car so far and expect none. This car comes with a 12 year no rust through guarantee. In MN that is huge!! It means no need to buy another vehicle due to having a rust bucket. The diesel engine will run at least 10 years at the annual mileage before having significant maintenance. VW is approving the use of Biodiesel in their engines, so I can have a more environment friendly automobile.
