This Year's Model Updates:

A completely redesigned Jetta sedan has arrived as a midyear replacement, but some versions of the previous version are still available. The GLI VR6 version of the old model was dropped from the lineup, while the GLI 1.8T added an automatic transmission to the options list.

  • Very nice job! - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

Completely happy with this car. Performance is top notch. Finding features every week that I didnt know I had. Styling is one of the best I have seen from VW in a while. The 18" BBS rims and Audi TT brake kit painted red is incredible for the view. The body kit is also wicked. And those seats...WOW! The car loves and hugs you as much as you love it!

  • Good daily commuter car. Not fun. - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

Weve owned our 2.5L Jetta since new, but Ive been driving it since about 44K miles. Now has 127K. This is a well-built, full-featured, and generally dependable daily commuter. New it was $27K and it has some features missing on my wifes $50K 2011 Audi A4. While it is a good "A to B" car, there is nothing fun or inspiring about this car. If that is not a priority in your car ownership, then no worries, the interior amenities will more than make up for it. But if you want something thats fun on the on/off ramps, and inspires confidence when you go to pass, then the 2.5L 5 cyl. is not your engine. Go with the 2.0 Turbo. Just regular maintenance, but some inconvenient repairs.

I actually had not reviewed this vehicle before i bought it! I just fell in love with it as soon as i saw it. Its fast and the panels are beefier than the original standard Jetta. I bought the car without even driving it! Just knowing it had a 1.8 Turbo 6spd Manual was enough to seal the deal. It is everything i wanted in a car, And i strongly suggest buying one!

Ive had the New Jetta for about two weeks, and Ive been very impressed with it! It is much bigger than the previous model and has tons of luxury features that were not available before. Overall this is a great car and very fun to drive!

  • Terrible Car - Will Never Buy One Again - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

I bought my 2005 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 the first day it was available in Texas - Huge mistake! My car has been in the shop 5 times in 9 months, and the worst thing about it is that I am still having problems. The sunroof has broken twice. The speakers rattle terribly! They have already been fixed once, but I still have the problem. There is a clicking in the dashboard that they supposively fixed (still there). It is an automatic, but I can feel my transmission stick as it goes from gear to gear. The clock doesnt keep accurate time. They were unable to fix either of these problems. When I start the car, it is extremely loud! I am a first time VW buyer, and I can guarantee that I will never buy another!

I love driving this car! Ive had older Toyota Camrys and a Honda Accord...and my 2005 Volkswagen Jetta Value Edition feels so much more powerful. Also, it looks really nice.

  • One fine auto... - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

This is now my second consecutive Jetta and I love this one even more than my first. The interior is flawless: from the svelte aluminum accents around the gauges to the totally killer Recaro racing seats--Im in love! The car is relatively quick, and very responsive. However, the car lacks upper end torque. When doing 60 mph in my VR6, a slight pump on the gas would send me sailing above 80; the same is not true with this 1.8T. Dont get me wrong, off the gate this car would blow the socks off of my old car, but it definitely lacks the get-up-and-go at higher speeds. Aside from that, I have never been happier with a vehicle.

  • The 4 Cylinder Jetta Sucks! - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta

I have not had this car for a year yet and Im already having problems. Like other owners, I have electrical problems with check engine lights coming on, coolant lights and all seem to be "fine" when checked by mechanics. Also the transmission sticks when driving. It sometimes jerks when trying to accelerate going uphill. My drivers side door squeaks when I open it. Ive lost a hubcap and on a rainy day the tires slip. Also the fuel economy sucks on the highway as well so Im left wondering, why did I buy this car?

A fun car to drive. It has lots of acceleration for normal highway driving. The fuel economy is wonderful at todays prices.I have gotten as high as 49 mpg on a trip, and always get at least in the low 40s.Slightly pricey, but nothing except hybreds come close to the fuel economy.
